Hi everyone-I've had a really busy day and I am worn to a raveling, to quote the Tailor of Gloucester.
We have no Father's Day plans as dh and I have an agreement not to observe it or Mother's Day--just more money spent and stress for everyone, we think--but we're sort of curmudgeons that way. Birthdays and Valentines Day are also not a huge deal. We do cut loose at Christmas though.
I have never had anyone but my Dh (and medical staff) present at any of my births, however, I think that because this is my last baby, I'll let dds 9 and 11 1/2 be there. Dd 11 1/2 wants to be a missionary/nurse/midwife, so she's particularly interested. I might have them stand by my head when I'm pushing and the baby comes out as I think they might be a little embarrassed about seeing my privates (shocking!
) You couldn't PAY ds 13 to be in there (and that would be embarrassing for me too). The little ones would be way too distracting.
Oh and I made Melanie's muffins, except that I used only half the walnuts and added some craisins, I used real sugar (but reduced it), and in a fit of laziness, I baked them (a quadrupal batch) in 5x9 bread pans. They are delicious. Next time I will use 3 pans instead of 2.
take care, ladies
Maggie
