Tricep work in the PS series ????????

Cathlete
Hi All,

Just wondering if there is Tricep work in the PS series ?

I am on a CTX roll (thank goodness), and as a different body part is worked each day, I am going to try what Cathe does, and work each body part for 40 minutes, so I am going to take different bits out of MIS and PH until I get either PS series or S & H series ? So, which series do you think I should go for ?

Many Thanks

Anna

Hi Anna!

Yes, there is tricep work in the PS series. The tricep section is about ten minutes long. Personally, I think the tricep work in CTX is harder, but that's JMHO! I would get the PS series first, then go for S&H.
Have a great day, Anna!!!

Today is the yesterday you worried about~and all is well today!!

Cathe has said not to split the work of PS. She did say that you can split S&H and do one part per day. So for that reason I would suggest S&H. PS is a great series, but the triceps are worked in the chest and shoulders segment as well, which won't allow enough recovery time if you do one part per day.

Forty minutes on each body part seems a little excessive. Are you sure Cathe suggested that? I could see doing legs for 40 minutes, but not triceps. Please enlighten us on that, if you could.

I read it over at the Firm Ya Ya's, maybe I should post this to Cathe ? Now that I think of it, 40 minutes would be a bit excessive. Honeybunch, if you were to train a bodypart per day, how long would you yourself give each bodypart ?

Anna :)

Editing to say, it wasn't Cathe who stated 45 minutes (I know, I mis-read it and thought it was 40 minutes, yikes), but Cathe stated she worked a bodypart each day to get into shape for the Intensity series, and as I am working a body part per day anyway in CTX, I thought I would spend a bit longer on that body part, say an extra 10 minutes ? Excluding Leaner Legs, that is ?????????

Depending on which method you are using - heavy with longer rests, or lighter with shorter rests - for upper body work no more than 20 minutes or so. I know with the S&H series, it can go to 30 minutes, but that allows for longer rest.

When I do my own workouts, it's around 10-15 minutes for the one part per day route (not legs, or course). But then, even with legs, it's not much 30 minutes, and tack on abs, still way less than an hour.

Anna-
That's an easy one! If you want to work one body part per day, you
want Slow & Heavy. Each body part is about 30 mins on S&H, and it was MADE FOR doing one body part per day. I always do it that way, and just love it!

Thanks Nancy,

So far, I have been tagging on the weight exercises from MIS, to the CTX series bodyparts, and it has been really good, because they are a bit slower.
45 minutes definitely would be a bit excessive !

Jillybean,
Do you know which thread it was that Cathe said PS couldn't be split up? I ask because I've split it up on occassions and haven't had any problems. I like to tack PS after doing CTX for a little extra work on the body part I'm working for the day. I have read that if you work a push muscle one day then the next day should be a pull muscle. I just find this information confusing because CTX is split up and PS is just as easy to split up so long as you work each muscle in the correct order.
