TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE! CHECK IN 2/1-2/9

Hello! Quick check-in. It was POWER HOUR MONDAY today! (I'm back from Carmel - nice trip - but there's no place like home.)

I met the lovely "LovingLife" from the ya ya site. She brought her cutie James (and dashing DH) downtown for about an hour. She's just what you would imagine - down to earth, funny, cute, and looking good post partum!

Debbie, beta blockers are probably not the first choice BP med for an active woman - but with your migraine history and the fact that they haven't ruled out your kidneys (renal artery stenosis) as a cause - a beta blocker is OK. If your kidneys are normal (and they will be) please ask your doc about an ACE inhibitor +/- a diuretic. The beta blocker does inhibit the heart rate. You are probably not able to get into the 85% zone to which you are accustomed.

Finally! My computers are operational!

Hi Gals --

The computer problems I mentioned in my last post continued until yesterday. I had planned to post last night but a friend needed me. Her brother is in the hospital (and has been for a month) with some life-threatening conditions. Supporting my friend was a higher priority.

WildPony -- So glad that the source of your headaches has been found! I was getting very worried about you because they had gone on for such a long time. Sound like you have a very good doc.

Gloria -- SL!! What a killer tape! I used to do that one a lot.

Robyn -- So sorry to hear that your job opportunity didn't pan out. I work in the IT consulting industry (Sales) and I really feel your pain. It's a brutal market for IT folks right now. Hang in there! It's not your skills, it's the economy. I work for Computer Horizons so if I can be of any potential help for you, just send me an email and I'll get your resume to the right office. I work in Cincinnati, but we have roughly 40 offices across the country.

As far as goals in January, I did pretty well. Not perfect but very well. Still working on those costumes. The Roman soldier has been a killer. The instructions were downright goofy! I had to devise my own method and it took longer.

Still working on my yoga/FIRM/yoga/FIRM rotation. The biggest thing I've noticed is enhanced upper body strength. I was already strong from doing the FIRM for years and yoga has made me even stronger in the upper body. The flexibility is improving very slowly.

Gotta run. My best to all!

Juli

RE: Finally! My computers are operational!

Happy Tuesday Ladies,

Well am I excited!!! My DVD’s came late yesterday. Whoopee!!! I have only previewed Muscle Endurance which looks great and I have just finished my word document of that w/o to put on my wall.
It helps me sooo much to write out what exercise, equipment, poundage etc that we will be moving to. I’m such a space that I get my w/o’s confused with one another so having it all in a nice organized document makes my life sooo much easier. I am doing this one today since I got my 4.25 mile run in yesterday and my fat burning walk too. I didn’t mean to run the extra .25 mile but a good song came on and I just couldn’t stop. It’s okay though since snails are passing me by as I run. ;)

Well I’m off to preview another and take more notes. I’m so excited!!! Did I mention I was excited?

Gloria- Dh loves to cook I have only had to learn how to in the last few years. That’s when the extra weight showed up. My first choice for cooking was “Mickey D’s.” Thank goodness I finally learned how to cook or I might have ended up on Jerry Springer needing to be cut out of my home. Ha ha ha.

Michelle- The pics of you and Renee are great! Why didn’t we do that? DUH!!! Hey thanks for the beta blocker info. I sure don’t like having to push myself sooo hard trying to get up and stay within my limits. According to the chart I use my 85% max is 148 beats per for me. I have been hitting and staying around 141 or so when I’m in a steady pace. Although it has been so hard to stay up there even at a full run. Forget about it when I’m walking I’m lucky if I can get up to 113 without walking on the ceiling. She has me on a small dose just 25mg of Tenormin and 10mg of Elavil. She says that the elavil should help with my headaches although I researched and found out it was an antidepressant? Hell I’m not depressed. I go back to her at the end of the month after both of my tests are back. So we will have a nice chat at that time about the new drugged up Debbie. Don’t get me wrong I do like her I just want to make sure that anything I have to take is totally necessary, ya know? I will ask for ACE inhibitor +/- a diuretic too. She mentioned something about athletes not doing well with BP meds. Hey I may not be on the next Olympic squad but I am an athlete no mistake about that. I could kick her butt. ;)BTW How did the research presentation go?

Juli- Sorry to hear about your friends brother. I hope things work out for him. What a nice supportive friend you are, I’m sure your g-friend appreciates it too. Glad to see ya back.

Have a good day all,
Debbie

Hi girls. Gloria-Thanks!! for asking about me. You're so sweet! My back's much better after I babied it for a few days. My workouts so far have been:Sat-Body Max, Sun-Rest, Mon-WF, Today-IMAX2.Tomorrow's plan is either CF or new Steaming Cardio if it comes in mail. FS I love the concept of getting out of comfort zone. That's what I've been doing with Cathe tapes. I was much more comfortable with some tapes I've done over and over for years. BUT...They were not challenging me enough or using new muscles.

Wildpony-I'm so sorry you're having trouble with the BP meds. My DH has had that struggle for years. He was like a walking zombie on the new heart rate meds for awhile. Your body will adjust but it's hard to wait for that I know. Hang in there Debbie. You've come too far to let anything or anybody stop you now!!

I won't be as buff as many going to HH but I KNOW I can't work out any mnore often or any harder than I have last few months. I'm going in the best shape that I can reach for my age and fitness level. That's all anyone can ask!!

Hi to Bita, Juli, Otisan, Robyn, FS, WP, Fitdoc and others. Sorry I've been gone but it's been SSSOOO BUSY at work. Ck with ya'll tomorrow. Janice(Also the one and only):)

RE: Finally! My computers are operational!

May I just say I LOVE Imax2 with all my heart mind and soul. What a fun cardio workout. I tacked on the abs from cardio&weights (gotta love DVD menus) - so my workout is done for the day:D

Juli, sorry about your friend:( That costume project is all time consuming!

Debbie, I'm not joking when I say I consider you an athlete. You workout everyday - and you workout hard! (Some of the anti-depressants have other properties that make them useful. The Elavil is not being given for depression - rather for your migraines. I wonder if you could perhaps see if the beta blocker alone controls your migraines? By the way, what is your blood pressure now?) The presentation went well - but I had more fun in San Francisco with you!

Take care guys.

Janice! Great to see you back! I think you'll be doing circles around everyone in HH, don't you worry about your "buff zone". Be sure to keep a journal, you're going to have an awesome experience!

Juli, I'm sorry about your friend's brother. You're absolutely right about having priorities. I wish your friend comfort in this difficult time.

Fitdoc, welcome back! I love Carmel, and the whole PCH experience in that area. My future BIL lives in Los Altos and I hope to be making my way out there soon! Also, have fun with your new parcel :)

Wildpony, what kind of treadmill do you have? My brother is looking to get one to supplement his soloflex. BTW, what song had your ear that made you walk the extra quarter mile? :)

Last night I did the cardio & chest to CTX (I forget what the names are now!) and tonight I'm doing the one with the shoulders. That's "All Step"? I previewed it last night and it looks wonderful. I'm not sure which workout to do tomorrow. Legs or arms?

Gloria, on day 2 of the tank top rotation, do you do cardio with LL? I know I'm getting ahead of myself!

Waves to everyone else!

Hello to my wonderful friends,
Hope you are having a beautiful day.

Have a minute to check-in. I did Mindy's Interval Express and Pilates.

Have a beautiful day.
Bita:)

Janice, judging from you workouts your back is fine. You're a hard woman to get down aren't you. When is HH? Isn't it sometime this month? Can't wait to hear about it.

Fitdoc, glad Carmel was nice but it's nice to have you back to look after Debbie. It's good to know she's getting her second opinion here and kind of you to help. Especially after that comment about taking out her Dr. Come to think of it, I could take my skinny little gyno and maybe my dentist too. We all have our fantasies.

Otisan, no cardio with LL but sometimes I substitue S&H legs or SL on that day.

Juli, your friend is lucky to have you. I said a prayer for her brother.

Tennis got rained out today. Bummer. I've piddled around the house. I'm having a reception for my Dad and his new wife Saturday, so there's lots to do. My sisters are coming Thursday to help. I know we'll get everything done, there's just so much last minute stuff. One thing is for sure. I'll appreciate my free time on Sunday.

Waves to all!
Gloria

This morning workout was TAM.Some comfort zones are nice to be in.I miss my old firm workouts. It's TTOM and it's rainy. My energy is slowly being drained.Very tired.Going to take a nice hot shower and relax.Take care TC's

hi everyone..didnt have time to post yesterday ...I did S&H bi's&tri's that was all for yesterday.I wanted to squeeze in my walk but making dinner took up more time than i thought.Today was the WONDERFUL Imax!!on the last interval w/the airborn jacks i had my husband watching....so of course you have to use good form!!

Hi ladies! Hope you are doing great! Hope you don't mind me rushing my posts! It's been so extremely busy.

Today is PS legs and abs, and 15 min. body bar:BLS.

Have a wonderful day!:)

Hi everyone!

Today really SHOULD be a rest day. I'm doing a CTX with my daughter in the afternoon so I really need to get a rest day in.
I think I have overdone it with that IMax/PH rotation I just finished!

So far this week
Sun - S&H Legs/SHoulders
Mon - Imax and Kickbox
Tues - Step Interval

Gloria - Yes I think I somewhat overdid it with the working out - last week my hamstring was sore. My daughter is 17!

Juli - Yes I know it's the market that is the trouble. I actually have had 3 nibbles in a month - so that's good. Yes I will take you up and mail you my resume. Thx.

Well gotta go do some positive thinking - some days without a job are tougher than others! I find working out a WONDERFUL release but need a little rest too!

Have a good day all!

Hi all,

A quick check in to report I did Stepfit today. My first Cathe workout and I still like it. Not a killer, but plenty to work up a sweat.

Robyn, I have a 17 year old son. My oldest son is 20 and off at college. I'll be an empty nester next fall. Weird.

Gotta get busy. Sounds like everyone is on a roll this week.

Gloria

Hi again-Well it didn't get lost so I'll try again one last time. Thanks Gloria-I usually am hard to keep down. Most of the time I'm pretty "up". This AM I did Pilates Plus. It's Pilates/yoga/ballet all in one long tape. Great for core strenth and stretching.

Fitdoc-Welcome home and thanks for taking good care of our Debbie. I LOVE IMAX2 too! Even tho it kicks my butt!!

Otisan-Hi to you too! Thanks, glad to be back! Having VERY busy day at work and I'm alone for today and toomorrow! :-(

Hi to Juli, Debie, FS and others. Hope to be able to talk tomorrow if things slow down. Til later.....Janice

Hi Girls --

Just a quick note as I'm at work. Did SS last night and heavied up on the weights.

Robyn-- I think you can access my email address from my profile, but just in case it's [email protected].

Thanks to all for your kinds wishes and prayers for my friend's brother. He sure needs it. The docs are talking about renal shutdown and that's really bad.

My best to all.

Juli

Gloria, I'm happy for your dad's getting married. I remember you talking about his future wife. Have a wonderful reception!

Smiley, How cool it is that you workout with your daughter. My living room is too small for even me to workout, let alone with someone else. BTW, I'm getting married on 10/18- 255 days according to knotnews. That tank top rotation is going to come in handy next month :)

Janice, I'm sorry that you're having troubles with the computer. My beef is that I have to log in every time I want to post. I keep taking for granted the Ya ya's and Fitprime having me on file so I don't have to log on every time. How is your back? I hope you are healthy and ready to take on HH :7

Last night I did CTX "All Step" with shoulders. I'm REALLY loving this series. After doing Firms for so long, it's refreshing to have posture pointers along the way. A simple "arms back and down" and "core braced and firm" really makes a difference when I'm tired. Tonight is LL. I previewed it last night, and I'm in for an @$$ kicking for sure!

Have a great day all :)

HI all!Got my new intensity series in today and i did muscle endurance..talk about a fun workout w/ cool music too!! ialso did a 4 mile powerwalk.

Otisan...that was robin that was working out w/ her daughter...i do think that is awesome though..i would love it when i have kids if they wanted to work out w/ me!!!

Have Fun Everyone!!

Morning all,

Just finished PS CST&BBA. I'm so proud of myself. I did both sets of pushups big girl style! No more knees for me. Granted, they were a little on the shallow side but I'm counting them as the real thing anyway. This tank top rotation is giving me so much more strength in my upper body. Y'all are really making me want this new Intensity Series though. I'll be really interested to hear about your results from it. Have a nice day.

Gloria:7
