Tracy Effinger "Squeeze"

Cathlete
Do any of you use 3# weights for all of Tracy's exercises or do you use 2# weights?

Is there any special reason why she used 2# weights?

Thanks,
Darlene

RE: Tracy Effinger

Darlene,
I use 3# weights. I think you just want to pick a light weight that's going to give you a challenge but still allows you to complete all the reps.

RE: Tracy Effinger

Total hijack, but L Sass - I just looked at your picture trail. Your kids are SOOOOO cute! And I am SO JEALOUS of the size of your workout space! ;-)

RE: Tracy Effinger

How is this workout? I saw it advertised in my new Collage Video catalog. It looks good, but I have never heard of this instructor before.

RE: Tracy Effinger

Erin - it's quite different from anything I've done before, though I love it! I've recently been doing more of the ballet barre work like Fluidity and Lotte Berk. The best way to describe Squeeze (actually it's Tracy's own explanation from an e-mail she sent to me when I told her this w/o rocks) is Lotte Berk with total athleticism. Highest weights I've used are 3# and I cannot imagine going heavier than this. And boy do you feel it - at least I do. I'm just trying to figure out how to incorporate into my w/o schedules. (Tracy also said she'd like to do a super tough lower body squeeze w/o - yay!)

And red mct (Marie right?) - thanks for the compliment. My monsters do keep me hopping, which is why I need that workout space. :) I'd lose my mind otherwise! HA

RE: Tracy Effinger

I just wanted to tell you that I finished the Full Body Squeeze this morning and LOVE IT!!!! I was amazed at how it kicked my butt. I'm adding it in my 1/2 marathon training schedule. I am going to email Tracy and tell her to make more workouts, they add a really nice variety to my Cathe's.

Marcia.

RE: Tracy Effinger

Thanks to the both of you for the input. I will have to look into this workout further.

RE: Tracy Effinger

I just tried this workout this morning and I like it. I love how fast paced it is and I really like Tracy. However, I don't like the abdominal section. I just didn't feel it. Maybe I'm doing it wrong...

I love that she keeps reminding me to tuck my pelvis under because I always forget to hold it there (it makes such a difference when you do!)

I absolutely LOVE the glute work against the wall. I usually don't feel those that much, but all the different positions really worked my tushy!

Overall, I recommend this workout. It's something new and different and is wonderful to do first thing in the morning!

RE: Tracy Effinger

Mine just arrived and is still in the shrink wrap. I plan to start this weekend. Do you folks think I can use my pilates ring instead of the ball, or should I buy a 10" toy ball? I think there's a toy store in my neighborhood.

As for the weights, I have some soft 1-lb. ankle bands I can hold in my hand for starters. I mean if the INSTRUCTOR is using 2 lbs., I'm too much of a weenie to use more. :p

I'm very excited!! :7 :7

RE: Tracy Effinger

Nancy, You will love the workout, perfect for an "off" day, or a day you feel less motivated, but still want to "polish" off every bodypart.

I use 2-3 pounds, but yes, your 1 pounders will suffice, the exercises hurt after awhile--just wait, you will see!}(

Also, the Pilates ring would probably work just fine, but the toy balls are pretty cheap, I would go ahead and buy one just to have it.

I have gone through 3 already, my dog runs into my gym and grabs mine and pops it everytime though!I guess he likes to "work out" with mommy!:)

RE: Tracy Effinger

I like this workout, just to change things up. I used 3# weights the first time through, but switched to 2# after. I find that I can maintain my form with the "squeeze" more effectively with the 2's.
Nancy~ I recommend that you get the toy ball.
There is no way that I could do this workout more than once every couple of weeks. I'm sorry, but the camera work, switching from studio to rooftop, bugs the heck out of me. Maybe it wouldn't be so annoying to me IF she was doing the same move in the same postion in both places, but she's not. I'm PMS-ing right now, so I don't dare put this DVD in the recorder, I may strangle someone!

RE: Tracy Effinger

Wow...I take back what I said earlier about not liking the ab workout. I feel it now!!! Especially my sides (from the side-bending). Ouch!!!

I used 3's this morning and that worked well for me. I'll probably switch to 5's in a month or so.

Sarah, I don't like the shots of her on the rooftop either. It seems pointless to me. I do like her in the studio, though. It seems very personal.

RE: Tracy Effinger

I started with 3 lbs on this workout (thinking 2 lbs was ridiculously light) but ouch! I had to shift down to 2's pretty quick. I usually do heavier that with my Cathe workouts. I should mention that I'm still just intermediate. Plus I've only done this workout once. I'd suggest starting with something you find reasonable and you can always shift down or up as you go (as long as you keep even on both sides, of course).

RE: Tracy Effinger

Nancy, I'll be interested to hear your feedback, after your first "squeeze" session. Maybe you should postpone the trip to the toy store for the ball purchase;-)

RE: Tracy Effinger

I continue to use this workout primarily as an add-on, and I'm still lovin' it! Esp. love the lower body & ab work, which I find to be tough. I'm not sure what a pilates ring is exactly, so I would say do spring for the kickball. The camera work does not bother me. I kind of like it, actually.
