Hello everyone:
Please send good vibes our way. Not sure if anyone has had to do this but my mother (I'm adopted) has been having mental illness issues for years and we now are dealing with going for guardianship. Basically this is taking away all her personal rights.
It's tough but know we have to do it.
She is mentally ill and REFUSES to take her medications. She is paranoid and hears voices but refuses treatment. I could go on and on. Today when I tried to get her some help she told me to shut up and mind my own business. Last weekend she tried to dry the clothes in her stove at 400 and forgot about it. They have turned off her stove. One of the "imagined" voices tricked her into doing it. We have tried MANY times to get her help but she continuosly refuses. The state does not consider her a threat to society or herself. She is convinced she is moving "imaginary" and has called multiple movers, who then realize there is no house. If someone does move her she has no home and will be homeless.
It's going to be an ugly contested battle. Long story but since my father passed away in 89 she has had many episodes. We were not close growing up but I now realize a lot was because of her mental illness. I'm a single Mom and my kids have always come first. The day she had her last move was the day my son was diagnosed with the brain aneurysm. She lives out west near my brother. She has said such horrible things about my brothers little girl (5) they nolonger talk.
My relatives are all very supportive and say I need to do this and my father would be proud. This means the world to me.
Needless to say it's difficult to deal with work and stuff. Thank God my son is doing well. The initial meds were effecting him cognitively but the new ones are much better. In fact this week he got a 99 on an Algebra II honors test on logs
I haven't been able to motivate to work out, know this would be good but with the life and death situation and now this with my mother, I'm quite worn out.
Anyhow thanks for your thoughts
