TOSCA RENO

Ok, if I'm gonna get one of her clean eating books...which one do you recommend? There were at least three on Amazon when I just looked

I would suggest the Eat Clean Diet Expanded Edition. It explains the premises of her clean eating lifestyle. I also have the Eat-Clean Diet cookbook, and there are some good recipes in it. My problem with cookbooks is that they don't come with someone to do the shopping and cooking for me! :)

I hear you, Jan!

I love the Eat Clean Diet Cookbook! It has some great recipes in it, and my very picky DH loves them. (Believe me, he is not a clean eating kind of guy!) But Jan is right -- you still have to shop, cook, and wash the dishes yourself!

I have her first book and I do have a little bit of love/hate about her - she's a bit dogmatic and repetitive but I blame that on bad editing...mostly :p. However, eating clean = good stuff and she's where I started with it.

One thing that I wish her book had was fiber content for the recipes.

Do the newer books list fiber grams?

Yes.

Her Eat Clean Diet Cookbook lists fiber content; also calories, calories from fat, protein, carbs, sugars, fat, and sodium.

The cookbook is my favorite

I use the Cookbook all the time but I do like to go back and look at the first book occasionally to remind myself. The recipes in the first book are good too. I have the Family cookbook too. The first half of the book is all the same stuff but how to apply it too your family and only half the book is recipes. I am not sure that kids need to be as hard core as what she is suggesting however the recipes are pretty good here too. I have celiac disease and have to modify most of the recipes that have wheat but they all turn out well. It can be hard to find low fat gluten free food, so it is nice to be able to make it.

The cooler plans are really the ticket!
Good luck
Heather

Thanks Kathryn!

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check it out and see what's what. Still loving the Ellie Krieger - hate to have to return it!

Why are you returning it???

As for Tosca Reno, I really love the cookbook too. I have the Eat Clean for Kids/Family and it has too much chat for me and only a few recipes - I didn't realize that when I bought it. Men's Health Muscle Chow is good too. He uses some sweeteners that I don't use but the foods are whole foods. There aren't pretty pictures though like in the Eat Clean books.

Which one?

So which one is most beneficial to you...the one with the most recipes? Are they simple recipes? I'm just not one with a lot of time and I really need this but I don't need more recipe books (if you know what I mean!).

Tosca's recipes are not as simple as Muscle Chow - not sure who you are asking the question to, but I will answer :) The only Tosca book with enough recipes to be worth it, IMO, is the Eat Clean Cookbook. I think Target has that one so I looked at it first. Muscle Chow is amazon only. It is targeted to men so it is easy and the recipes are good. It also gives you 3 phases - relaxed, lean and ripped, and recipes for each and/or ways to alter the recipes for whichever phase you are in.

You're welcome!

Still loving the Ellie Krieger - hate to have to return it!

I'm enjoying Ellie Krieger too (thanks to this Forum)! However, she is much less hard-core than Tosca. The Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup was delicious -- I made it on Monday. Looking forward to more great recipes from her.

Get busy!

Well, just copy your favorite recipes and check it out again if you need to! I do that with recipes I love anyway, so I have them all in one binder in the kitchen.

The library... great idea!

you could just get them all from your local library first! that way, you can decide for yourself which book you want, and if there are only a few recipes you really want you can just copy them. i am also a huge library user and request lots of stuff through the inter-library loan system (someone else mentioned this). what a great resource!

Ah, I love Ellie Kreiger's recipes! :) You can get most of the ones in her cookbook (actually probably all of them) online at foodnetwork.com. I have the cookbook and then realized that later. Also, her show "Healthy Appetite" contains all of the same recipes (although the new episodes seem to have new ones). :)
