Tlt's vs. Cathe

Has anyone tried these and compared to Cathe? If so, then how do they compare? Are they easier or more difficult? What do they do that Cathe's workouts don't?
I am considering buying them. Thank you.

HAYDEE! LOL!

There was a long thread about this recently... maybe you can do a search to find it.

I have two of the TLTs but I'm ashamed to say I have thus far only previewed them. They look interesting but are different (functional fitness) and certainly not Cathe-intense. My SO spent a lot of time while we were previewing commenting on how out of breath Susan Harris was - did anyone else notice that? I didn't until he said something and now I hear nothing but her heavy breathing. :)

Of course, I am notorious for buying "other" workouts and then just doing Cathe, so perhaps I'm not a good judge for you! }(

They are very different workout styles, so it's like comparing apples to oranges.
They are both "difficult" in their own way (TLT's require balance, use of stabilizers, core strength).
What TLT's do that Cathe's workout don't, IMO, is help with muscle imbalances, strengthen your stabilizing muscles, and improve balance and flexibility.

I have them all but have only done one so far, Endurance for Movement with Tracie Long. I would say that they cannot be compared to Cathe. They're entirely different from a Cathe workout.

The TLT's are functional fitness workouts. What they do is work your body on an unstable base, either with a stability ball, one legged work, or gliding on paper plates (I used those slick furniture mover thingy's), pretty much working your whole body with an emphasis on your core. The only equipment used is a stability ball, 3-6 lb squishy medicine balls, 3-10 lb dumbells, and paper plates or rags or furniture mover thingy's.

They're excellent workouts and I think will help to strengthen your body for more rigorous workouts like Cathe. I think they're also good to prepare you for other sports. I can definitely see where they would fit into a freestyle workout.

Again, you can't really compare them to Cathe--that'd be like comparing apples to oranges, but they're good in their own right.

Kathryn is good at explaining things--maybe she'll chime in here.

ETA that I see Kathryn posted--Hi Kathryn!

I believe it is advisable to use capital letters when refering to the "TLT" workouts!;)

I was surprised at how much I sweat during these workouts. They don't seem that tough upon viewing, but when you get all sorts of little muscles moving in ways that are unfamiliar to them, it is a challenge.

Okay, TLT. I am a horrible typist. I never got beyond the manaul typewriter. Prefered it. Was able to catch mistakes before the letter hit the paper. Oh well,
How about calories? Do you think they burn many calories?

>How about calories? Do you think they burn many calories?

Functional Fitness workouts supposedly can burn 30% more calories than traditional weight training, because there are a lot of muscles working at the same time.

I don't use a heart rate monitor, but going by "sweat factor," I think they do (especially the three other than FYC).

Agree w/ Kathryn on them being apples and oranges. They are completely different from Cathe but just as great in a different way. I'm on a Cathe hiatus this month and doing a TLT/firm 30 day rotation that Tracie developed. Even w/ modifying, I found myself very sore after Cathe strength and cardio. The dread factor was creeping in and I was tired a great deal of the time. (Note that I'm 45 and have lbs. to lose.)
So for the last 2 wks. I've been feeling stronger and with more energy. Oh, and with the walking I've been doing for cardio, I've dropped a few lbs. My shoulders and back feel better, my posture is better and I just am enjoying the change of pace.
Like Cathe, Tracie is a true professional and her workouts are well designed. I'm grateful for the variety and feel fortunate there's so much out there for us to choose from.

Kathryn, how do the TLT's compare with Core Foundations?
