This week's rotation

Hi Jeanie,

:) Don't usually check my messages on the weekends, but it's Sunday night and time to plan the week ahead -- both for work and for exercise. Sigh...

I'm so glad that your dad is okay. Scares like that are difficult. I just found out that my brother-in-law has skin cancer -- and we are a very close family -- and so this is disconcerting.:( To say the least. Hopefully we're going to be catching this in time.

Hubby and I went out -- with our daughter, too -- we had a great time -- sent to Black Angus -- I love that place.

Thanks for your compliments -- you are too kind. After doing some of the Cathe workouts I've noticed I've trimmed down a bit here and there -- not much -- a quarter of an inch here and there -- but it's enough for me.:)

I told my chiropractor's wife today about Cathe -- found out she also likes to work out to tapes, but she didn't know about Cathe -- so we may have a new exerciser here soon.

Your workout plan looks like fun. I've pulled out a rotation from Cathe's September Rotation -- #600 -- and I am going to try that -- I'll change it a bit as I want to try some of my new workouts.

Anyway, Jeanie, it's so great that you come and visit my site. Hope your weekend was great!

This week's rotation --

Monday: IMAX 1 -- convert to low impact

Tuesday: MIS

Wednesday: Rest -- Stretch

Thursday: Running Sprints: Warm up with a light jog for 10 minutes and then do twenty 30 second sprints (run my fastes for 30 seconds and recvoer 45 seconds to one minute, for twenty cycles). Cool down with a walk for 5 to 7 minutes and stretch for 5 minutes. (This is from Cathe's site.)

Friday: Muscle Endurance

Saturday: Tae Bo Circuit -- his 48 minute circuit

Sunday: Rest

I'm actually looking forward to the sprints -- I used to walk outside every day and I sometimes miss getting out first thing in the morning.

Oh, by the way, did High Step Advanced on Saturday -- really challenging -- gee, I really like that workout -- it and Circuit Max might very well be my favorite workouts -- although it seems my favorites tend to be those I've just done. I think I just like Cathe.

I also plan to get all of Cathe's new workouts -- I know I should preorder them and save some money, but knowing me I probably won't. Sigh...

Okay -- now if I can only plan my work schedule so easily.

Hi Karen Kay,

Glad to hear you had a great birthday. Birthdays aren't so bad when you still look young, huh? LOL!!!!

I have modified my diet during the past three weeks. I've been eating more complex carbs and cutting down on the fat. I'm just coming off the two-week Intensity/Body Blast rotation. And guess what? I'm fitting into pants that were too tight! I'm not sure whether to credit it to the new diet or the workouts but I'm very pleased! I think I'm going to continue this rotation and make it a four-week rotation.

By the way, I'm thinking of ordering the HSTA. I love Boot Camp, and this one is supposed to be similar in style.

Have a great Monday!

Hi Jeanie,

Gee, I'm so glad to hear that you're now fitting into pants that were too tight. Gee, if I were you, I wouldn't change a thing -- just keep going with what you're doing. You know the old saying, don't change a working installation. You know, since I've added Cathe's intensity to my workouts, I no longer am struggling with my weight -- and I used to struggle -- I was not overweight -- but gee, keeping my weight that way was really hard work -- but now -- with these intense workouts at least twice a week, I haven't noticed a problem -- knock on wood.

:) Notice I'm planning on doing an intense workout on Turkey day -- by the way -- what do you do on Turkey Day? We usually throw a turkey in the oven and then go to a movie -- come back and eat -- makes an entertaining day.

I love the Intensity series -- at first that's all I was doing, but now I'm starting to add in some of Cathe's other workouts, as well.

I have all of you at FitPrime to thank for telling me about Cathe -- I'm so glad I found her.

Have a great one, Jeanie.:7

Hi Karen Kay,

You are right -- why mess with success? Prior to my finding Cathe, I did mostly FitPrimes and Firms. Personally, I think I need more cardio -- Cathe's workouts give me that. I love both the Intensity Series and the Body Blast series.

I did notice your tough Turkey Day workout! We go to my brothers for turkey and traditional American trimmings and then to Cesar's mother's for turkey and Puerto Rican style side dishes. Needless to say, I'll need to work out extra hard this week!

Today's workout was Boot Camp. I really heavied up and it was tougher than usual.

Off to sleep -- catch you later.

-- Jeanie

Hi Jeanie,

Wow! What a fun day you have planned for Turkey Day. I love the sound of some of those dishes. Hmmm...

Well, I'm glad that I had planned nothing but stretching for tomorrow -- my brother-in-law goes into the hospital tomorrow for surgery and I will take him there and stay there and bring him home -- I'll take alot of my work with me...luckily I can work almost anywhere.

Today I did Muscle Endurance instead of MIS -- mostly because of the time factor -- I wanted a shorter workout. Gee, I really like this workout, too.

Will probably use the evening to do the stretches since we have to be in Santa Monica (and it's a good hour away) by 7:30 AM. Going to have to get in bed early.

So today I bought a watch with a second hand on it so I can do all those sprints on Turkey Day -- I was so proud of myself for finding it and actually getting it;) Am looking forward to working out outside for at least one day this week. But I know I couldn't do it constantly like I used to -- because I love my tapes so much.

Jeanie -- I was like you in that before I found Cathe, I did almost entirely FIRMS or FitPrimes -- but through all of you at FitPrime I also discovered Collage Video (love it) and Janie Saffell and Tae Bo -- I like them all -- but nothing compares to Cathe.

I, too, think that I was needing more cardio -- specifically I think I needed some anaerobics as well as aerobics.

Anyway hope your workout is great tomorrow. Any prayers you could send my brother-in-law's way would be most appreciated.

Have a great one.:p

Wow Karen Kay, you are a woman on a mission! I was lazy and didn't work out yesterday. I'm not sure what workout is on tap for tonight, but I'm sure it will be a Cathe.

I have been praying, and will continue to pray, for your brother-in-law. I've always had so much faith in the power of prayer. It is wonderful that he has you to lean on during this time. You are a great sister-in-law (can I borrow you? LOL!).

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hi Jeanie,

I haven't posted since last time mostly because I've been busy with my brother-in-law. I did go with him on Wednesday and stayed with him all day at the hospital. The doctor said they got all the cancer removed -- he goes back into the doctor tomorrow to see if the limp nodes in the area are positive or negative. Also, we'll need to do a cat scan to make sure that the cancer didn't travel anywhere else in the body. But he's doing well and I'm glad that I was able to be there for him.

Anyway, Thanksgiving was great. I did exercise -- stretched out and then did the sprint workout. Only did eight -- that was all I could manage. Oh my gosh was I sore -- and still am. Sprinting uses entirely different muscles (especially those around the groin area) that are still sore. Gee... I am going to add this to my weekly rotation, however. Did workout on Friday and Sat., though can't remember what I did -- something a little easier probably.

Anyway, this week's rotation:

Mon: Sprint -- 10 minutes warm up -- did 12 sprints, then a walk and stretch.

Tues: Muscle Endurance or Power Hour

Wed: Rest -- stretch

Thursday: IMAX or IMAX 2

Friday: Muscle Endurance or Power Hour

Sat: Circuit Max

Oh, I did do MIS on Saturday, come to think of it -- this was a good workout -- I loved all the instructions on form. I do, however, like Muscle Endurance better.

Have a great one, Jeanie.

Hi Karen Kay!

So glad you popped over here, because I've been worried about your brother-in-law. I'm glad to hear that things went well. I bet the whole family was relieved and had a better Thanksgiving.

I was lazy on Thanskgiving Day -- didn't work out at all. However, the Wednesday before I did one of the premixes on the Step Blast/Step, Pump, & Jump dvd -- it was 85 minutes and VERY tough! I burned around 650 calories (a record for me!).

I haven't figured out a rotation for this week. Yesterday was Step Blast and today will be High Step Training Advanced (the UPS man just dropped it off).

Glad to hear you like MIS. Do you have MIC too?

Have a great day!

Hi Jeanie --

It's so great to hear from you. I've been so busy here before Christmas what with all my regular things I have to do, and worry over my brother-in-law. I have missed coming to FitPrime to chat and hope to have this worked out pretty soon. Sigh...

I'm so glad that you had a great Thanksgiving. Sounds wonderful, by the way. I was pretty good -- but did gain weight (about 1 pound is all) and have taken that off now. Gee, I really like getting out there in the morning and sprinting -- it's exhilerating -- I know that's misspelled.

Anyway, I'll come on tomorrow when I hope to have a bit more time to post and post a new link for December. Did sprinting today -- 10 minute jog to warm up, stretch a little and then did 14 sprints today -- that's more than last time -- and am not as sore, either. Walked for about 5 minutes after to cool down, stretched a little and that's all.

Off for the rest of the day.

Have a great one.

Karen Kay,

So good to hear from you and know that everything is okay.

Holiday eating is tough for me. Everyone is always wanted to stop for dinner and drinks. I went out last week, and I'm going out again twice this week. How am I EVER going to get these darn 15 lbs. off? LOL!!! By the way, the pictures on your site are great -- you are just gorgeous! I noticed that you wear some very high heels. I do too, and lately I've been having trouble with my achilles (spellling?) tendon. My doctor blames it on wearing high heels during the day and then coming home and going barefoot or wearing sneakers. He said I need to stretch my calves more often. Do you ever experience that problem? I was reading here on this very forum that another lady is also suffering from the same injury and was told the same thing.

Today I did Cathe's "Push Pull". It's a total body strength workout and it uses the stability ball. I really enjoy it. I'll probably have to go easy on the cardio workouts until my calf muscle gets back to normal.

Talk to you soon!

Jeanie:7

Hi Jeanie,

You are so sweet to say these things -- I really felt as though all you at the low carb forum at FitPrime were part of that tour -- I know you had to listen to me go on and on about it.

Anyway, I wear very high heels, it's true. And not even a shattered ankle (done years ago) has kept me out of high heels. My chiro told me the same thing -- he said to be sure to stretch the calf muscle area often -- the stretch where one leg is in front of the other -- about a foot and a half -- and the back let is bent and the front foot is flexed -- is a good calf stretch. The only problem I have with heels -- and I don't have many -- is that I have to have shoes that support my arch -- and so I hunt for shoes that give me that support, otherwise, my feet and even that tendon hurt after a while. But if I have that arch support, I seem to be able to wear them all day -- and often do.

We had a friend from the Blackfeet rez staying with us for a while and her comment to me was -- gee, you wear high heels even when you're cleaning house... Problem is, it's true. Not real high heels to clean in-- but an inch to an inch and a half heel.

But I, too, go barefoot around the house, and I don't have a problem with that either. Actually my chiro said that opposite to what some people think, high heels are actually not all that bad for you because it puts your center of gravity forward a bit -- which is good for the back apparently.

At any rate, you might try seeing if having the arch support makes any difference -- and then be sure to stretch the calves really well. Hopefully that will help that problem with the tendon.:)

I'm going to start a December rotation thing here since these messages are getting a bit long to get to.

Thanks again, Jeanie, for your support. I really mean it. You're wonderful.
