thinking of selling CTX

Cathlete
I am thinking of selling CTX series that I just bought on DVD. I know some people love them, but I haven't found a love for them yet, and I am not sure if I will. I like some of the step, but I am not crazy about the floor hi/lo stuff. It makes my knee hurt. Part of me wants to sell them to fund toward the intensity series - part of me wants to keep them so I can build a full library...but will I ever use them again? *sigh*

If I do sell them, would you recommend ebay or using one of the video fitness forums. I know they have trade sites...maybe that would be an option.

Sorry - I'm babbling!

Amy

Are you really really sure you want to sell them??? I'm not crazy about hi-lo either, but the rest of the workouts I use all the time. Leaner Legs is a staple that I do at least once a week. I also love all the ab work in this series. And for a quick intense step workout you can't beat Step N Intervals or All Step. Kickbox is great too.

If I were you I'd hang on to them, but if you do decide to sell I'd recommend one of the fitness forums. I'm sure someone will be very happy to take them off your hands, and because they're on DVD you should get close to what you paid for them.

Here is a case in point for keeping the CTX DVD:

I was all set to do my Cathe workout scheduled for today, and I mean literally...the dvd was loading...when the phone rings and it was our satellite guy wanting to stop by in 30 minutes to install a new part we needed. Of course I wasn't going to say no to him, we need the sat fixed, so now my dilemma was I needed a very short workout ASAP so I could be done before he got here. What I did was use the CTX disc 2 warm up, kickbox, arm drills and stretch. As I was taking my workout shoes off he was pulling up in my driveway. Granted, I didn't get the long workout I had planned for today but at least I got something in. If I can find the time later today I will try to do the other two segments I missed on the CTX disc 2 today (arms and abs).

I would recommend you keep the disc. But, if you don't use it then it is merely taking up space and I would recommend selling it on Ebay. Cathe's sell for almost new price...sometimes even more, on Ebay. It's craziness.

I sold a couple of CD's once (granted, these were audio CD's and not DVD's, but I'm trying to prove a point). I look back now and regret that I sold them. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to pull those CD's out and play them since I sold them. I regret it.

I don't use my CTX every week, and there are a couple of workouts in the series that I'm not crazy about, but I couldn't do without All Abs, or Step and Intervals when I need a quick, intense workout. And Leaner Legs is a nice supplement to PLB. All Abs is awesome!! I can say that this special collection of ab workouts single-handedly kicked my ab work beyond the next level entirely! And my cardio capacity took a huge leap after doing Step & Intervals just a handful of times.

If you really want to sell them, we can't stop you, but I just don't want you to regret it 5 years from now like I did with my CD's.

I agree with everyone else. Give it more time before you sell it. I love CTX for all of the above reasons and the music is so great too. I first had it on video and I loved it but now I have it on DVD and love it even more. You can do so much with it.

If you're not crazy about hi/lo, are there other parts of CTX you like and find you can use/mix and match with Cathe's other workouts? I didn't like PP/SS when it came out, and waited a full year before finding a good way to use it. I don't use the hi/lo in CTX. The only Cathe hi/lo I like and use is the one in SJP. I keep CTX mostly for the step segments, the UB split and Leaner Legs. Boy, you can't go wrong with LL.:)

Never let go of a Cathe DVD. Ever. You would be amazed at how you rediscover uses for them even if it's only once every three or six months.

I have ctx on video and love the arm workouts-kickbox-10-10-10 and leaner legs but the others I don't do.I think the kickbox workout is a killer.I say keep it for a while I sold pp/ss dvd not long after I got the body blast and after seeing it on fit tv rebought it.I absoultly love the 3 times thru premix on this dvd and use it instead of p90x.It is now one of my top workouts I reach for.and for me I have always hated power hour I have had it for a couple years now.I am doing it once a week and love it.I NEVER thought I would like powerhour even thou most love it (now so do I).It just took time for my love to grow for it.

I agree. Don't sell until you evaluate the mix it up options. I frequently combine the upper body workouts with PUB, for example biceps of CTX with PUB biceps as I am a proponent of really working out one body part hard once to twice a week and CTX and PUB together is great. Leaner Legs is also wonderful and I rotate this with my PLB and Slow and Heavy Legs workouts. On low energy days, I do only the cardio from a selected CTX and I don't like all of the cardio...for example, I don't like the Kickbox one very much. Sometimes, I will do two cardios from CTX when I want a sustained lower intensity cardio workout such as the one I am planning for this evening. Don't sell!

As much as I love Cathe, I don't like the WHOLE series. I'm not a big fan of hi-lo, but I know I couldn't do without the leaner legs, the ab workouts, and the upper body split. I also got the Cardio Kicks and Circuit Max DVD and never use it. I put in Cardio Kicks on Saturday to try it out again and I LOVE the power drills. I still have DOMS today and I don't remember ever sweating buckets like that!

Adding to my earlier comments, I still consider myself a "newbie" to Cathe because I have just started buying her DVD's. I DO have several of her workouts on VHS, having recorded them from FitTV, but something I'm finding with the more DVD's I buy (I now have CTX, Cardio Fusion, the entire HC series, and will be receiving RS and Ab Hits on Wednesday) is that I have started mixing and matching. For example, I'll do abs from CTX, then the chest, shoulders, and tris from PUB, then the GS: Chest & Tris Supersets premix. Or I'll do Step & Intervals from CTX and match it up with 15 minutes of Imax 2 or Step Blast.

I just wouldn't be able to part with any of my Cathe DVD's. My regret over having sold those CD's (as I mentioned earlier) in a garage sale taught me the valuable lesson that I might not like something "right now", but who's to say that in 2, 3, 5, or 10 years I'll still feel the same? I sure wish I had those CD's back!

I agree. I don't mix and match the workouts like everyone else does...and I should. Call it laziness on my part  or just not taking the time to figure out what works together but my experience today taught me that I really NEED to start timing the segments so I know how long each one is and then I can better mix and match when I get into a situation where I need a shorter workout, like today.

And not all of the CTX series is great. I still hate that arm drills segment. It just seems totally useless to me but I did it today just because I normally skip over it and I haven't done it for over a year. Well, today reaffirmed my opinion of that portion of CTX!:p

But the CTX DVD is very versatile on it's own and most of it I do like. And I can see where other's will tack on CTX segments to other workouts because most of the CTX segments are fairly short in duration.

Having a multi-disc DVD player would be a tremendous plus too!

Hi Candy,
We have been told repeatedly that we can't use this forum to buy, sell or trade Cathe videos/DVDs or make an offer for such. The threads that do so end up deleted. It seems we are allowed to make suggestions but are not allowed to do any transactions or offer to make transcations on this forum. Just posting for your info since you are new to the forum.

I too only use portions of the CTX series, but I really swear by them. My personal faves are:

Kickbox plank and ab routine
Leaner Legs traditional ab routine
10-10-10 hi/lo segment
Power Circuit circuit segment

In fact, there are very few Cathe workouts that I do strictly as produced - but I always buy the whole taco on the first day of presale because I know there will be things I can use, and things I can hold in reserve.

I'd say give them a little time (since you "just bought them"), then if you still feel you won't use them, sell them with no regrets. You can get a good price for them on Ebay (I did, when I sold my set: too much impact and torquey moves for my tastes. Besides, I have 200 workouts, and don't need to keep those I won't use). You can use that money towards something that will be of use to you.

I don't use CTX all that much anymore, but I would never want to give them up. I like to pull them out if I want a different upper body workout and Leaner Legs is still a killer. Plus, I love the cardio from All Step for a quick cardio workout.
