Thigh Size

I would like to know what is the average size of a womens thighs. Does anybody know what is considered average? I read somewhere on this forum that if your thigh is more than 21 inches you should not lift heavy weights if you dont want to get any bigger. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I don't know what the average size is, but I know that my thighs were about 26 1/2 inches before I started STS (heavy weights), and at the 3-month mark are now about 24 1/2 inches. At one point in my life when I was lifting heavy and eating clean, I got them down to 21 inches. So that rule doesn't seem to apply to me - the heavier I lift, the more I tighten up.

No heavy weights for me

Of course, everyone is different, so you should try everything, but me legs tend to be heavier & they got smaller when I went to all body-weight exercises especially using Gliders, and spinning classes 3X per week. They are now 19", an all time record smallness for me, and MY PANTS ARE GETTING TOO BIG!

I don't know the measurement answer, but I do remember hearing that 25% of a womans total body weight is in their thighs! ARGH!! Terrifying thought!

Well I was just curious because I considered myself to be a pear shape because of my legs. I thought that they were unproportioned to the rest of my body. One of my thighs is 20 1/2 inches wide. Last year they were 22 1/2 inches. So they have gone down. I read an article about your body type and how to eat and work out for your type. All along I thought I was a pear but that article got me thinking am I really a pear shape or just being too critical of my legs.
