The Ruins--OMG!

This movie scared the crap outta me! I read the book & the book alone was totally edge-of-my-seat throughout, but I had no idea a filmaker could beat my imagination when it came to fear. :p I actually had to cover my eyes a couple of times!

If you like horror & suspense definitely to check this one out.

I read this book last summer on the plane going to WA and boy did it make me squirm in my seat. Not sure I could handle the movie! Never knew foliage could be so terrifying!!!

OMG!
That movie was so disgusting! I couldn't stand it. I couldn't watch some of those scenes I pulled a blanket up over my eyes. I just couldn't take it!

I seen this and it was so sick! I was shocked as to how gruesome it was. But if you closed your eyes through the disgusting parts it was actually a pretty good movie.

I loved the movie too, in fact I just got the book.

Did you see the Descent? That movie made jump out of my seat!

It is gross! And scary! It's hard for me to say which was scarier, I lean towards the book b/c I have an overactive imagination. Crap, I can make a cheese sandwich scary if I think about it enough. :p

But it's also very suspenseful & relatively creative for a horror movie/book. A good storyline that builds & keeps you on the edge of your seat. I'm not a huge fan of gore movies like Hostel, but I enjoy a dose of gore now & then if it goes along w/a good story.

Disturbia was another good one that I saw recently. Funny how Alfred Hitchcock never goes out of style!

I guess I'm in the minority here- I went to see this when it was in theatres and my friend and I both found it hilariously bad. (I'm not allowed to pick out movies anymore :p) To this day we're still cracking jokes about the tequila--huge rock--hunting knife scene.

"He's in med school." Oh, you got me laughing again just thinking about it. Lol, I guess I'm morbid.

And seriously, who wears white pants and flip flops on a hiking trip? No good can come of that.

Hmm, I have to go see this. It's been a long time since I've seen a good scary movie, and I love scary. I don't like the scary movies that are overly gruesome to try to scare you. I much prefer a scary thought provoking plot. I think that the last scary movie that creeped me out was that Zodiac movie, and mostly because I live in Napa and it's creepy to think that this happened minutes away from where I live and that they never caught the guy. The scene where he just stabbed that couple really got me too.

That scene in the Zodiak really got under my skin too. That kind of stuff just boggles the mind.

The Mist was really freaky. Marcia Gay Harden was excellent, and I thought it was amazing how they made the people in the grocery store more frightening than the actual monsters outside. The scene with the young Air Force soldier had me in tears, I think it was one of the most psychologically horrifying things I've ever seen.

I think the scariest movie I've ever seen was Cabin Fever. I would absolutely NOT recommend that to any germophobes. I almost had to sit it out in the lobby and wait for my friends. I settled for keeping my eyes closed for about half of it.

Nadja! LMAO! I guess a goofy young college girl wears white pants & flip flops to hike. But you must remember, they never planned on that hike until the night before. Perhaps she did not have Amazon-appropriate clothes with her?

I cannot believe you laughed at the tequila/rock/knife scene. That was about 5 minutes I spent in the dark b/c I just couldn't watch! EEEWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! OUUUUUCCCCCCCCHHH!

I read the book, but after seeing the trailers for the movie, I decided to pass. It seemed to have nothing to do with the book. Did it follow the storyline? I hate it when they re-write a book to make the movie. It's almost always a mistake. Was this worth seeing? Maybe I'll wait until it comes to one of the movie channels.

No Kidding, this was very scary, I saw it last night. Alot of gore but a good story. Almost makes me glad I can't afford a vacation. Sandy

Nadja, The Mist was actually a TV movie a few years ago, & I thought it was a better version than the movie theater version. Tim Daley had the lead role, & they never actually showed the monsters so you had no idea what was "out there." Very suspenseful.

Lynda, the Ruins movie def. followed the book. Almost verbatim.

Where have I been? I read The Ruins last year and didn't know they made a movie of it. I'm glad to hear the movie follows the book closely. I hate it when they change it too much. Not sure I want to see it but it was a scary read.

I saw The Mist movie theater version and all I can say is that it had the most disturbing ending. I felt just sick to my stomache thinking about it!

OMG! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry! Yeah, disturbing is a good word for it.

Yes! I was just flat out depressed. I tried to spin it around in my head into being consciously aware of and heartily appreciating our current friendly dimensions.

During that part where they're dealing with those flying critters, and then someone knocks over the mop or something and starts a fire- I'm not sure if I was laughing or crying, that was so stressful! You're thinking omg, how can this get any worse? I know, a fire.

Darn Laura! I got a hankering for the TV version now but I just checked Netflix and they don't have it. Does it get replayed sometimes?
