The med ball AB workout in Muscle Endurance... worth $25?

I need advice from all you Cathe-fans who have the new Intensity Series VHS. I admit I only ordered the Pyramids & the Cardio & Weights/IMax2 DVDs and then I went out and purchased a 10lb medicine ball before I realized there was no med ball used in any of these workouts.

So I'm considering buying the Muscle Endurance VHS tape because (a) it will tide me over and (b) it has 9 + 1/2 min of ab work using the medicine ball that I have. I find I don't do total body endurance weight routines often (I have PowerHour and don't do it frequently) because I prefer heavier weight workouts with fewer reps. So I'd mostly get this tape just for the ab work.

What do you guys think? Is the ab work with the medicine ball challenging and unique enough to justify buying an entire $25 videotape?

P.S. I love challenging ab work, I have Cathe's Ab Hits DVD, love Tamilee's I Want Those Abs Part 2 (!) and other ultra-tough ab tapes.

Thanks,
Dawn P.

If I had a medicine ball, I would order one of Mindy Mylrea's strength tapes that uses a medicine ball. She uses that darn thing in some of the craziest ways and I always feel it the next day.

I love Cathe's strength work but when I throw Mindy in there, it changes things. She is a big proponent of the medicine ball.

But I will admit I did Muscle Endurance for the first time today and loved the workout. $25 for ab work seems like a lot.

Dawn,

I could have sworn that the Pyramids use the medicine ball for ab work also. I may be wrong. Check some of the more detailed descriptions for more info.

As you can see, I've had the series for 2 weeks now and all I've managed to do so far is preview. I'm such a couch potato lately. :( Can't seem to shake the feeling either. I thought the new vids would do the trick but no!

Hi Dawn! Hubby & I just finished ME for the first time and the AB work is very challenging. For that matter, the whole tape is challenging. Give it a try. You could always do less reps with heavier weights to get your money's worth out of the tape. Cathe uses a 10# plate for leg presses on the mini step, but we substituted the 10# med ball & it worked fine. BTW, the only tapes that use the med ball are ME & BootCamp. PUB & PLB use the stability ball. Oh, also...I was able to use a 10# med ball for all the exercises and was able to finish all reps! (I was dying!:7) Hope this helps.

Hi Dawn!

Just wanted to give you my two cents worth. Muscle Endurance is a great tape. It is tough and challenging and my muscles really feel it. The ab section is great! I don't think you will be disappointed with any of the tape. It is a nice, challenging change from lifting heavy and your muscles will love it. Just look at Cathe!

Dawn,

Have you considered buying the terminator DVD - I think that one will have a section where you can do all of Cathe's ab works from these videos. What I have found nice about the medicine ball is now I know how to incorporate it in Cathe's Abs Hit video. I use the medicine ball for all of my ab workouts now. I am hoping to see good results.

I hope that helps you I also do like Muscle Endurance - I like it better than Power Hour - I have worked it in my rotations only once a week - since I like breaking up my upper and lwer weight work.

Hope it helps,
Cheryl

Robin,

I'd be interested just to know which ones you considered really good and challenging. I'm always on the lookout for something to get my abs!

hehe

Thanks!
