The Butt Book...anyone have it?

Hi, I do have it and like it although I haven't gotten really serious about following all of it yet, trying though..... I am glad I bought it.... Rhonda

I've seen this advertised in Oxygen magazine. Tosca Reno writes pretty good articles.

Rhonda, are the exercises in it any different than what is in the Glutes Issue (if you have that one?)

letswork, thank you...you are so sweet! I really appreciate the compliment!

I just ordered the Glutes special issue. I don't want to buy a book that is going to say I need this machine and that machine. I workout at home and like it that way. Unless it is mostly dumbells and barbell workouts...anything that I can do at home.

I just have to tell ya, that you look FABULOUS! really )) . Did you get results like that from P90x? And too, may I have a sneak preview of your P90x workout rotation.

I am on my six week with P90x and upper body is coming along nicely. Even tho, I haven’t been as dedicated as I’d like. I love P90x CS&T. I think that is what really helped me strengthen and become stronger in my UB, so many push-ups. I’m really getting stronger. With my chin-up bar, I now can do 1 full pull-up. Its’ going to take some work…

I’m doing P90x not in any particular order, I also use Cathe’s….Imax, CTX, PUB, PLB L&G. I think they complement each other. Back to you. How did you get a body like that, your Abs are awesome, please share. Thank you.

Teddygirl~

Thank you so much Teddygirl! Goss...I'm starting to blush:+ :+ :+

I credit most of my build to Cathe...definately the abs and legs (ME abs took me a long way)

P90X is excellent for getting the arms to pop...from all the push-ups and pull-ups.

Here is what I did...I followed the Classic Rotation but added treadmill 6 days a week for cardio. I didn't follow P90X to the bone either. I never did Kenpo (watched it once) and I did YogaX 4 times or so (so freaking long...I can't do Tony for that long).

I always did the Monday, Wednesday, Friday P90X workout followed by treadmill.

On Tuesdays, I did GS Legs or PLB and treadmill. I did PlyoX a few times here (instead of treadmill) but I can't do Tony 5 days a week either.

Towards the end, I didn't do Back and Legs from P90X. Instead I did the Back portion of P90X Back and Legs with the leg portion from HSTA...KILLER workout!

I wanted to add what I did for the "active recovery" weeks:

Treadmill 6 days a week and Cathe's endurance workouts...2-3 a week (Muscle Endurance, Muscle Max, Power Hour) or a circuit (Gauntlet or HSTA).

I did Core Synergistics twice...ever, but again...needed a "Tony Break".

Hmmmm....I never feel that way about Cathe! But of course, Cathe never shoves a flexed bicep into the camera saying "If you want guns like these, you need to work hard".LOL!!! Even if she did...still love her!

Thank you Sarah,

You know I feel the same way. I can’t stand to be without Cathe No matter what routine I am doing. Love that gal! ;o)

I find myself doing Kenpo twice a week, I really enjoy this workout. And, I’m noticing a big difference in my thighs & hips. Plyo that’s my favorite. Never did Core Synergistics. There’s a few tape of Tony's I never even open yet. I think he done a good job putting P90x together.

If only I could get me buns up in the morning and hit the treadmill for an hour, like I use to do. I’m going to really *fight* this week to get myself re-train for my morning workouts.

My first challenge is to get up tomorrow and do CS&T, if I accomplish this. Then I’m back on track for morning workouts. Thank you so much for sharing. Teddygirl~

This is how I started my week.

Monday: P90X Kenpo X
Tuesday: Cathe’s CTX/UB & Ab routine ouch!
Wednesday: PLB (Floor & Abs)
Thursday: am: P90x CS&T
pm: P90X Plyometrics
Friday: P90X Legs & Back
Saturday: am: treadmill
pm: PUB
Sunday: am: treadmill
pm: PLB

Hi Susan, yes I have that one too, I will look thru them tomorrow and check out the exercises and get back with ya on that.... Rhonda

Sarah!

Okay...I'll chime in, too...you really do look fantastic!

Just curious, when you say "treadmill," are you running, walking, what???

Thanks, Michele

RE: Sarah!

I usually run. I just started varying the treadmill work. I'll do sprints, run hills, steady state, HIIT. Anything to keep it fresh and keep my body guessing! When I run hills (run a hill for about 1/4 to 1/2 mile, then walk fast for a bit, repeat) I always feel it in my glutes the next day! LOVE THAT!!! Nothing fries off calories like my treadmill...at least that is what my heart rate monitor says. Combine that with solid strength work and good stretches...winning trio!

Thanks Michele, for the very nice words! I really do appreciate you guys saying such wonderful things! Huge hug to ALL of you!:* :* :*

RE: Sarah!

Thanks for the quick reply! I guess I'll have to get back on my treadmill and kick it up a notch!

July 1st is my "get serious" date. I've been slacking for the last couple weeks (kids getting done school has not helped my workout schedule) but I've told them July is it!

Thanks again!

Hi there,

My suggestion - skip the Butt book. Although, it has information on exercises to lift your bum, and a section on nutrition with recipes, if you're a seasoned exerciser (and I know you are!) you won't find anything new in this book. In my opinion, it's good for beginners, intermediates. The exercises outlined are the classic, tried and proven lower body exercises (you're already doing these with Cathy). If you're still curious, visit a Barnes and Nobles or Border's book store and see if they have it in stock. I found one at Borders and spent an afternoon in the store reading it and decided not to buy it.

The Glutes issue of Oxygen, however, is worth the money. It's a compilation of past issues of Oxygen that focused on lowerbody training. Lot's of variety. It's a keeper. I have it for over a year and still refer to it.

What is kenpo? And I will be buying Muscle endurance if it will help me looking more like you. That is awsome and I do not think you need any butt book. I am going to look in O's mag to see what is up.

Hey Susan, the Glutes special collectors Issue probably has more exercises in it for the glutes, the butt book, has more nutritional imformation and alot recipes for slimming soups, and meal menus for one week....
If someone is really interested in it, although I do like the book I probably wouldn't be using it for anything other than the exercises... I would sell it....

Rhonda

Hi Roxy!

KenpoX is the kickboxing workout that is part of the P90X series. It really isn't that bad. However, if you need Cathe like I do...KickMax is the way to go or Kick Punch & Crunch. Personally, I don't put these in very often...not as much as I should!

If you are itching to buy, Muscle Endurance is a GREAT one! When I first bought it, I was doing it 2X a week! I still work it in to my rotations...I love all the leg presses! Now, if you buy ME because of me...tell Cathe to give me a cut! :)

I did order the Glutes Special from Oxygen...it just isn't here yet. I will go to a book store and flip through the Butt Book. Thanks so much, guys! I really apprecitate the help!
