TAXES!!! Ugh!!

Just looking at the 2011 proposed budget gives me pause. For example, I would like to know what the $2.58 BILLION titled "other discretionary programs" in national defense is. How much good could be done with 2.58 BILLION DOLLARS??!!

Budget visuals

I found the interactive budget link very interesting... more understandable than a big list of numbers (eyes glazing over). The visuals really help me.

It's interesting to see where it all goes (or is projected to go). After all, that's our money....

Oh, and don't get me started on State funded housing. My dh works for a Section 8 property and there are so many losers living there on OUR money doing nothing when in fact, they are capable of working. They have new cars, huge screen TV's and get money back at the end of the year. WTF???

Dh and I keep saying we are going to quit our jobs, file for wellfare and then sit back and let the state take care of us. Why not? It seems easy to do.

Ugh, . .Debbie, . .I totally agree. I get so frustrated because I know that there are people out there that need and use welfare and section 8 the RIGHT way but that the majority use it the WRONG way. I heard on AM radio that California is the highest cash pay wellfare state in America and that 80% abuse the system. This pisses me off something feirce because we pay through the nose for our medical and all these people who get free medical care don't have to pay a dime, . . as a matter of fact I'm paying for them to get their medical care.
I don't know if you watch The Simpsons but I thought that was so funny that episode where Homer gains 300lbs so that he could qualify for disability and does not have to work. He ends up having to wear a mu mu dress because his clothes don't fit him and realizes that being overweight and farting around eating all day is NOT a good thing.

Too bad we can't just pick and choose how are taxes are spent. That is why it is so important to pay attention to what our representatives in government are doing to make sure they represent the interests that are important to us. I for one would much rather pay taxes to help out Americans in need than to pay for unncessary wars that just make other people rich.
