Tae Bo while pregnant?

Hey everyone,

26 weeks pregnant with #1 and trying sooo hard to keep working out! I have been alternating walking a few miles a few times a week with my Tae Bo tapes. I did my Cathe tapes up until maybe 20 weeks and now they're too difficult.

At what point do I start to scale back on my workouts? I can still do Tae Bo pretty easily with minimum modifications. And can anyone recommend any additional Tae Bo videos (I have the BootCamp series, Fat Blasting Cardio, and Total Body Fat Blaster) for me to do while preggo? They seem to be the perfect intensity for me right now.

Thanks in advance!! :)

I did tae bo during my pregnancy as well as turbo jam. I recommend the tae bo live tapes0beg. or adv. depending on how you feel. Tae bo extreme is another good one while pregnant.

Thanks! I really appreciate it!

Did you skip the ab movements? I do squats instead---I don't know if I'm supposd to be working my abs?

Probably not the right forum for the TaeBo discussion, but I'm a loyal TaeBo'er and have been for many years.

Shellie Blanks-Cimarosti is pregnant, due in July, and still doing TaeBo 6 days a week at 8 months along. If you do TaeBo, you know who Shellie is - if not, she's Billy's daughther and right behind him in all of the videos. Most of the instructors I know have taught up to the last week of the pregnancy.

It really depends on you and your body.

Hi! I have really loved doing Tae Bo as part of my workout routine during pregnancy. I am now 32 weeks, and I find that I cannot kick as high as I could before becoming pregnant, but I do my best. I really enjoy the "Capture the Power" series. You can get this set of 4 dvd's at billyblanks.com for $29.95. I have only been doing the "strength" and "power" workout (I lost the other two dvds during my move last year!), but I love them. One thing that I particularly like about them is that they are effective, but not too fast paced for me, even now. Also, I find that you can really adapt your tae bo workouts according to how you feel. If you're very tired on a particular day, just don't punch as hard or kick as high.

As far as ab workouts go, I still try to do them, but it's not nearly the same as before pregnancy. I could keep up pretty well until my belly got big, but it's harder now. I usually try to do the same ab work, but I do it more slowly (so I do half as many reps as they do). If anything feels too uncomfortable, I just don't do it.

I hope that this helps!

Sincerely,
Elena

She just had her little boy!
Rocco John Cimarosti was born on 7/11!

Congratulations to the whole Blanks clan!

Hi everyone - DH and I are now talking about TTC our 1st in the next few months and I'm already freaking out about how this is going to affect my workouts.

With respect to the ab work, do you modify it so you're not lying flat? I have heard that you should do ab work lying flat after a certain point in your pregnancy.

Also, with respect to workouts in general, can you continue to do your regular workouts until you feel you need to modify, or should you scale back immediately? I'm really confused about all of this.

And for those of you who already have babies, HOW do you fit in your workouts? I normally do cardio in the morning and weights in the evening. I have enough trouble getting myself ready and out the door for work on time!

Hello:
I took kickboxing up until the day before I delivered. And taught core strength on the ball until 9 months. The Jack knives on the ball did get comical though.

Do whatever your body allows. The one thing I learned from my doctor, is that no one agrees on what we can or can't do. I did a lot of core work on the ball for abs.

I also did use a belly belt thru my pregnancy for the high intensity impact cardio. It can be tricky to adjust, but it helped ALOT.

I also did any type of sit up and ab work my belly would allow. You could tell after I delivered that I did have ab muscle...either that or it was the medication and lack of sleep that had me hallucinating.

My daughter is 10 weeks old. I am 4lbs shy of my pre-prego weight. And thanks to the support of my husband, I am able to fit an hour of a workout into my schedule. I always say, if you can't find that little bit of time for yourself, how can you give of yourself?
