Supersize Me

I just saw this movie http://www.supersizeme.com last night with my Fiancee. Has anyone else seen it yet? I have to say, it was pretty informative!! I bet this movie will have a big impact on some people.
The scary parts for me were the doctor appointment check ins.

I heard about it, it won't show in Utah though, But a radio station was talking about it and said if you super size a big mac meal it will take you 7 hours of straight walking without stopping just to burn the calories in that meal alone.

I saw it and it was AMAZING! Honestly, this one confirmed everything i had ever thought about fast food and McDonald's! I hate the fact that McDonald's goes after kids and tries to lure them in young! Its wrong. this movie will open your eyes & really shows the danger of ingesting that crap! It practically became life threatening for the guy who ate the all-McDiet! Truly awesome movie - I haven't stopped thinking about it since I went to see it on Saturday! Twenty thumbs up in my book!

Yes! I can't stop thinking about it either. It was amazing how almost every nutritionist said not to ever eat it. They also said how it's actually toxic to the body. It really scared me when his three doctors were comparing the results of his liver changes to alcoholism. Oh...and the part where they described how chicken nuggets were made. Yikes!

Fast Food Nation by Eric Schosser is an interesting book. You might like it if you liked Supersize Me. It deals with the fast food industry and the meat industry and the impact on consumers, workers and farmers.

I read that one too! I could never eat a McDonald's hambuger after reading that book....now, with the movie and the stuff about McNuggets - I could never eat one of those either!

Anyone interested in fast food & its effects on the body need to see this movie. Dani is right about the toxic affects on the guy's liver - it floored me! I just couldn't believe that it was life threatening after just 22 days! Amazing. the book was great too!

I've been reading a lot about this movie. That man spent a year and a half trying to get back into the shape he was before the movie. However, I don't know if the movie theaters over here will play it. I'm guessing I'll have to wait till it hits the video stores.

Another thing, this is not a movie against McDonalds per se. It is about the fast food industry in general. He chose McDonalds because of a pending lawsuit that two people placed where they claimed McDonalds food made them sick. (I don't know all the details about that lawsuit). The McDonalds Corporation has never made any comments about the movie, but they are making changes to the menus(hmmm interesting).

By the way, just curious, how do they make chicken nuggets? Please share the details.

I just read about it, and what the filmmaker went through (hair loss as well as other negative effects).

McDonalds tries to spin the facts by saying (as all sellers of poison food do) that their products can be part of a balanced diet. And they try to redeam themselves by offering "healthy" alternatives like this new adult happy meal with a salad (um..any dark lettuces on that? how about broccoli? garbanzo beans? raw sunflower seeds?) water and a pedometer.

Okay...please don't read any further if you don't want to know. Also, please correct me if I'm wrong. This is what I got out of it.

They take the whole chicken (without the head, including the feet) and then turn it into mush. Then they take the mush and form breaded nuggets out of them, freeze dry and package.

Note to self : "if you want to eat chicken nuggets learn the healthy way to do them and prepare them yourself. Never eat those again"

Ewww chicken feet?! OH MY!

Thanks for the info Dani.

In the movie, it was revealed that McDonald's new yogurt parfaits (the large size) have the same calories as a sundae. Ditto for at least one of their salads with dressing. Just something to keep in mind.
