DVD's and/or books. After my morning awakening (they are always traumatic at my house!) I have decided must center self and relieve stress in addition to cardio/weight w/o.

Thanks in advance for all who offer HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!

I am very fond of David Swenson's Yoga Short Forms and Eoin Finn's Yoga for Happiness. Each allows you to practice at the beginner, intermidate and advancd levels. As you become more proficient, you can adapt the workout to suit you. I love yoga which is, of course, a form of meditation in itself.

Thanks for suggestions, will check into those. I am former fitness-aerobics instructor, flexible and love to stretch. Am STAH mom with 4 sons, 3 still at home (2 w/special needs) and I homeschool them. I just need a method to the madness to work some calm time into my life.

I am a stay at home mom and a homeschool mom of three ( 9,7,and 3). I know about peace and the need for calm. My favorite's for stress relief are Gaiam's Yoga Conditioning for Women, Yoga conditioning for weight Loss and, Yoga for Stress Relief. For a kick butt yoga I love any of the Bryan Kest and also Iron Yoga. Enjoy. Karen

Hi Karen -

Thanks for suggestions.

Nice to hear from a fellow HS mom. My at home boys are 11, 8 & 8.

I've actually looked at the Gaiam series of DVD's and the Iron Yoga.

Now must figure how to justify my Cathe preorders, the additional Cathe I want, and multiple yoga DVD's........hmmmmm......must go think now.

It's already been a long day....thinking hard.....maybe need chocolate......}(

yoga complete for everybody. it has like 45+ practices for all levels, times, and purposes(my favorite is hips and legs practice). i also enjoy bryan kest's power yoga for hour long practices.

Hi, Melody -
Sorry for the delay in answering. I had to get home and find the books! These are on Zen meditation, and I really like them.

Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind - Shunryu Suzuki
The Three Pillars of Zen - Roshi Philip Kapleau

I enjoy meditation, though I don't do it to seek enlightenment in the Zen way. The things I've found the most helpful are to sit quitely on the floor. Breathe deeply from the gut - really focus on the air coming in and out. It's quite different from breathing from the upper chest like most of us do. Relax the neck and shoulders. That takes some effort - a lot of my tension is there, along with clenching the jaw! Also, focusing on breathing only, helps to clear your mind of distracting thoughts. Enjoy!

Shannon-

Thanks for the book recommendations. I wouldn't be seeking enlightenment either -sometimes liviing in the dark has its own rewards.

Had to laugh when I saw the word Zen. I homeschool and in history we were in Japan yesterday and therefore hit upon Zen Buddhism - only one DS called it "Zinc Buddism". Can you tell we use zinc lozenges when immunity is low?
