Suggestions/Recommendations, Please!

Hi, I just started learning Cathe's Max Intensity Cardio and I love it (and I thought Gin Miller's Intense Moves was tough). Anyway, I really don't like complicated choreography but I enjoy Cathe's teaching style, personality, etc. Consequently, I'm interested in buying more of her tapes. What would you all suggest for someone who's new to Cathe? What tapes would help me learn her choreography w/a relatively small learning curve? I'm rather intimidated because I've heard her steps are complicated and very dancy. Thank for any suggestions you can provide. Suzanne

I think the best tapes for learning her moves are Step Heat, The Wedding Video, and Mega Step Blast!! Her Crosstrain Express series is pretty easy to follow too, IMHO. I like Gin Miller's Intense Moves too! I've heard that Cathe's Interval Max is awesome!! I belive those are supposed to be more athletic moves and not as dancy also. I've also heard that it is harder than Intense Moves. I haven't done this one yet, but I will here before the month ends:)! I'm hoping it is harder, I love a challenge!! Of course that's usually why all of us are Cathfans, she gives us a challenge! Anyway, I hope this helps you with your decision making. Let us know what you get!!

I'm fairly new to Cathe myself. I've had MIS for 6 months, but just got Mega Step Blast and Step Heat. I also have Interval Max, but haven't tried that one yet(I've heard the steps arn't bad, but the intensity scares me). Anyway Mega Step Blast and Step Heat were very doable for me :-wow , and I generally have trouble following complex step. It's amazing how much good and consistant cueing helps.

Hi Suzanne!

I would second The Wedding video and MegaStepBlast as good starter tapes. Also, you might want to consider adding strength work into your program. Both Maximum Intensity Stength (which compliments Max. Intensity Cardio well) and the PS Series are excellent. If you are not used to doing weights, you can start out very light and build from there. (I just remembered~The Wedding video has strength work in it also, so that would be a good starter tape for weights also.) Don't be intimidated by Cathe because her excellent cuing and "fun-style" make learning her tapes easy!:) Good Luck and let us know what you decide. Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH

Those are all great recommendations, but I also wanted to add in Step Max. It was my first tape after MIC and I still like it. Whatever you choose, you will probably end up wanting all of Cathe's tapes. She teaches so well, that you can pick up the steps without much trouble and still get a great workout!

I first learned about Cathe through VideoFitness and was so intimidated my her complex choreography that I was afraid to order her tapes. My first tapes were Body Max and MIS. Since BM is one of her less choreographed tapes - and it compiles moves from most of her step tapes - I was able to pick up her steps fairly easily. Now when I try one of her tapes for the first time, I'm familiar with her "around the world", or "hop, 1/2 turn" moves. And like any fitness tape, the more you do it, the easier it is to pick up the moves.

A Big Thank You

Thanks to all of you for your great suggestions. I'm not quite as intimidated about ordering more of Cathe's stuff--I'm a real klutz-a-roo, so complicated steps aren't my thing.
Now I know what I want Santa to put in my stocking this year (will help work off all those cookies & stuff, don't you think?). I've been doing The Firm for strength, but I might try one of Cathe's strength tapes just to diversify. Again, molto grazie amicas! Suzanne

RE: A Big Thank You

Hi Suzanne

One more suggestion: I started with Step Max and Step Fit. I still love both of those tapes! Believe me, I am not the most coordinated person around and it was several months before I had the courage to try tapes like Step Works. Good Luck!
