Suggestions, please...

Hey guys,
I want to expand my Cathe library. I want to get some more aerobic/circuit type exercise, but I'm not good at the step (tragically clumsy). What are your favorites??? I like the Step, Pump and Jump that they show on FitTV. I can handle the little bit of step in it. Is the DVD version longer? I'd appreciate any suggestions

PS Sorry for the many posts. My little boy started kindergarten recently, and I find myself bored/sad. So, in addition to playing with my 2 year old, I've been visiting the Cathe forum a lot lately!

I would also recommend the high step workouts. Loads of fun. Also, do you have Bootcamp? It's tough, but doesn't have any complex step in it.

SJP comes on a DVD with Step Blast, which is a straight step workout. There are lots and lots of premix options using either or both workouts, but if you're not much for stepping, it might not be the best use of your funds.

You might consider Cardio and Weights (the DVD also contains IMAX2). I think the step is fun and not quite as intense as some of the other step workouts. The premixes are nice too.

Another suggestion is to get Low Impact Step which also has Total Body Sculpting on it. This one is rated beg/intermediate and it provides a nice intro to Cathe and her style of step.

Ha! Thanks shelley! I guess I'm going to have to cave and buy a high-step. I do have Bootcamp, and LOVE it! It always amazes me how much I sweat doing that workout each time. I wish I could buy the new bootcamp that comes with the 4-day split separately... I was thinking of getting SJP on VHS where it's the single workout. I liked Debbie's idea too. I actually have done IMAX2 on FitTV and could keep up. I just substituted the dancy/turning steps with simpler steps I could do without falling. :) The funny thing is, I used to be a dancer!!!!!!

Thanks guys for your suggestions!

Drill Max - very intense cardio, all athletic moves - no complicated step patterns.

KPC and Legs and Glutes - there's some great premixes on there to get a great lower body and kick box workout combined.

I agree with the High Step workouts and Boot Camp. HSTA is one of my favorite workouts of Cathe's - tough circuit and great weight work - my legs are fried by the end. But it is known as Leg Press H*ll for a reason - you do 6 sets of 15 each leg in this one!

And Stephanie - you hit the nail on the head with how to attack Cathe's step. Sub the twisty torquey moves for ones that are more simple. I love IMax 2. If you can do that, then consider getting The Terminator DVD which is a combo of IMax 2, Cardio and Weights, Boot Camp and Muscle Endurance. Both Gauntlet and Viper are GREAT circuit workouts and only use IMax 2 for the step.

Ditto what Christine said! I especially like how you can use the different premixes (such as "Cardio & Lower Body Circuit," etc.). Another one of my favorites is Power Circuit from the CTX series - a great mix of hi/lo, step, and kickboxing along with lower body weight work.

Another vote for Drill Max -- this is my new favorite! Just did it this morning and I was dripping sweat -- love it! The weight work on here is some of the best I have seen!
