Suggestions for a second job?

Hi there:
I don't post here too often, but I like to read all of the posts here to get good information. Now I'm hoping to get some advice here.

I'm in a position where it seems the income from a second job would be very beneficial to my financial status. I'm a teacher and not making enough really to support my two girls as I would like (6 years old and 1 year old). I was thinking of trying the sales thing with either Silpada or Lia Sophia. Has anyone ever tried this out? I'm wondering if anyone would have any advice about this. I just don't have the time available for a second job that requires tons of hours. I just need a supplement, but don't know if this is really worth it or not. Any suggestions?

I don't have any experience with sales of that nature, but my sister sold Mary Kay for awhile, and I know she found it a bit tough to juggle with her FT job. Eventually, she let it go. I think to be really successful in those ventures you need to devote time and effort to doing a lot of networking.

Have you thought about tutoring?

Sounds like you might be a single mom. I know how important it is to spend quality time with your children, and with a second job that is very tough to do. IMO try not to work a second job. Instead, try to save money. It is one way to benefit your financial status and keep your family together.

There are many ways to do it. Purchase your clothing at a second hand store. You can buy so many wonderful things there. Designer clothes are included as well.

Always try to make meals at home. Restaurants can be so expensive.

Purchase things only when necessary.

For entertainment; rent one movie on the weekend, instead of going to the movies. There are lots of family games and activities you could do together. Fitness (walking, running jogging, Cathe; us a stroller for your little one) board games, card games. Even clean the house together.

I might be way out of line here, and if I am I'm so sorry. I just wanted you to think of another alternative than getting another job.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Maybe I could do some tutoring on the side and try those suggestions for saving money. I'd definitely like to make enough with the one job...one would think that one job should provide enough money to live on, but these days the cost of basic things is just unbelieveable! Anyway, thanks again for the suggestions!
 
Waiting tables. If it's a nice restaurant and you have any experience, it's amazing how much money you can make by working maybe two or three nights a week. It's hard, but you'll make more money an hour because of tips, you get an okay workout, and you don't have to pay for dinner on the nights you work!
 
My dream job is receptionist at a gym. You get a free membership, you get to socialize w/the members, it requires no thought or work whatsoever, & you get to work out whenever you want. ;-)
 
LMAO!!! If you need a business partner Shelley, let me know! I could use about 5K right now as well! ;)

Some gals here were looking at an ad in the paper that said you can sell your eggs for $5,000 (I think it was in Denver - surely they have the same thing in Canada)! And you can give plasma and get something like $150 a month I hear. That might be safer than selling drugs and stripping. :p
