stuck

I MUST be too tired this morning!

DeQ, when I saw the title of your post I thought "push pause" was a new weightlifting technique (you know, like push almost to the top and pause before finishing or something. . . ). How funny when I realized you were talking about the VCR! I am so close to brain-dead today it is truly amazing. Now I am grinning at myself! -susan p

TOO FUNNY!!

Susan-that is too funny!! You may have thought up a GREAT idea. You know how hard it is to pause at a certain point when lifting weight?? We may have to talk to Cathe about this!! Have a nice day-DEBBIE

I thought that too!

I am kind of chuckling here as I read this post because that is exactly what I thought of too. Hey, a whole new technique to read about is what I was thinking, until I read a bit farther of course.

It's not just you guys

Thought the same thing too. I felt so out of the loop for a second!

Push, Pause

I chuckled too, and thanks for your input. I was thinking of ordering Cathe's Pure Strength series as I don't know if I like doing a total body workout like MIS. What does everyone thing of the Pure Strength series, is this more like a gym workout?, and is it effective. I find I get more discouraged if I can't keep up!, but at the same time I want a good workout. Any comments?

PS series

I've done one PS rotation and am getting ready for my second. I absolutely love these videos and was very happy with the results I got. I would definitely recommend getting them!

Hi Sabrina!

I only have The Strong Legs and Abs from the PS series, and I LOVE it. I think it will be very effective. I've only done it a few times because I lent it to my daughter for the past week and just got it back. I plan on using it this Friday in my strength workout. You will be able to keep up because you can use low weight if you want. Hope this helps!! Debbie

Sorry!

Didn't realize I was starting a new exercise technique

or causing so much confusion. I'm LMAO. But what Cathe calls eccentric movement, of lifting and lowering weight slowly is actually very good for toning, provided the weight you are using is challenging enough. I've been reading a lot on the speed of weight trainin: low, slow reps with heavy weights make for the best results, but since us women have less upper body strength, we have to compensate for those exercises. Cathe says she works that out by increasing the reps. You might find the PS series is for you. It is designed to go slower so that you can use heavier weights. You should have no problem keeping up.

PS series

Hi Debbie
Thanks for your input and I have orded all 3 tapes, can't wait to get them. I think I will enjoy there more so than the MIS tape because I preferr to break down my workout. I have had the work out blahs since after christmas, maybe these tapes will get me going again.

New Exercise tech

Hi DeQ,
You are correct about slowing down, I have a book by Ellington Darden, Ph.D. called A flat stomach asap. He talks a lot about speed and tested this out with great results, also less injury. I still got a chuckle with your Push Pause though.

Yes Sabrina!

You will definitely like them. I love MIS too! I feel so good when I have completed it and know I have had a thorough-body workout when I'm done. I'm sure you you will be tickled w/Cathe's PS series. She great in all she does and just her personality will take away your blahs! Enjoy!!

Hey DeQ!

Who'd ever thought that your Push-Pause remark would start so much conversation. I'm still laughing!!

Love this thread!

This conversation just keeps going! Just like the energizer bunny. I have learned so much. I love The PS series. I have had the flu, so my workout is on "pause". I haven't been this sick since I was a little girl. I can't wait to get back. Any suggestions on how to start back after being sick? I still feel really weak. ( I don't want to be "Stuck" any more!)

Hi susieq

Take care of yourself, I had that flu as well, you need to wait until that weak feeling goes. Don't
try working out until you feel 100% again.
I had it for a week, then moved to my chest and left me with an annoying cough, didn't work out for 3 weeks.

Thanks Sabrina!

I really appreciate that bit of wisdom! I'll try not to hurry getting back in the groove. I still have a cough and chest congestion. Guess I'll have to be patient. Was it hard to get back your endurance level after 3 weeks off?

Hi Susieq

Yes it was hard to get back my endurance, mostly because that flu seems to take a lot of your energy. It is also hard to get back into the groove, I keep on telling myself I have to get back to a routine. (Starting a better routine on Monday)
