STS Tower Use Question

Hi,

I will be getting the Tower in a couple of days (YAY!) and wanted to ask something about its use.. Where should the bar be when lying on the bench? What I mean is, where should you be in relation to the bar...should it be to the back of your head, across your forehead etc?

This may sound silly but it seems like Cathe has it behind her, more than how mine is with my regular weight bench. Does this matter when it is heavy and you need to put it back on the holders?

Deb- All excellent questions! I am really hoping SNM puts up a CatheTV tutorial so we all get full & correct use! Perhaps in the future it will come with a DVD or small illustration guide.
I will be putting mine together today and really would like to know I'm using it properly (form).

You just want to keep the vertical post as close to you as you can without interfering with your bench press. It is hard to give you an exact answer as people have different body proportions and have different stokes when they do a bench press. A bench press should be done by beginning at the the bottom of the stroke by pushing straight up and then tapering the bar back at a slight angle as the bar goes upward toward the finished position. People do this differently with some lifting straight up and others with a forward or backward slant. Unless you're training to compete in the bench press this is not a big deal. I only mention this because the placement of the tower will depend on what type of stroke you have. Just keep it as close to you as you can without having the Tower interfere with your bench press stroke. It should always be a few inches behind the plane of your lifting movement, but not so far as to be a safety concern when returning you bar to the rack.
