STS Round 2...

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am almost finished with the STS six month rotation. How long of a break do I need before starting STS again?
Thanks!

I think that entirely up to you. You can take the 1 week recovery and start over or go to another rotation and then start STS again.

Lisa - I would give your body longer than a week. Cathe said that if you did the 3 month rotation, you would want to do it 2-3 times a year. For the 6 month rotation, I would take a rest/recovery week and then at least another week or two, but personally, I would do no less than a month. Your body will continue to change and it needs the break, especially after 8 weeks of Meso 3. Why don't you try some other DVDs and mix those up for a bit? You don't want to burn out mentally or physically by jumping right into another 6 months of STS. (I am saying 3 and 6 month rotations to make it easier, not counting the rest weeks in between mesos). It is also an invididual thing too - you know your body and your need for change. I was ready for the end of the 3 month rotation, which for me was in June. I thought I would want to start back sooner but just wasn't ready mentally, plus I got into triathlons this summer and was focused on training specific to the races. Now, I am ready to jump back into weights and look forward to it. I lost some of the pump I had going on but it is probably only noticeable to me. Remember, fitness competitors do not lift like that year round. Whatever decision you make, have fun with it!

Hi Meowracer,
Thanks for your reply. If I decide to take a month break from STS, would I lose all of the muscle/strength that I have gained?

Lisa - good heavens, no! Take a good break for recovery, and then keep lifting during however long you want to take off, but just don't go all crazy out - maybe a week of full body workouts, a week of circuit work, and a week of easy, light weights with compound moves, if you just want to keep on with the weights, then start STS again. Even if you did nothing except for some good cardio, you would not lose what you have gained in your muscles/strength. I enjoyed the break from much lifting and actually leaned out some, and saw my muscles more once I finished STS. I have done lots this summer and really been happy not so focused on weights. Just keep your eating clean and your macros on target for whatever it is you choose to do. I think in the end, you will be more ready to start STS if you take the break.

Lisa - you are welcome! Isn't STS great?? I am going to try mixing it and P90X (weights only) next go around, and make it 6 months that way. I think it will be fun. For cardio, I will do my own thing. I love Cardio Coach workouts. Have you tried those? What cardio do you do or do you follow Cathe's rotation for cardio?

Hi Meowracer,
So far I've only done Cathe for my Cardio. I don't know anything about Cardio Coach. :-(

ACK - Lisa! How have you survived on this board with no mention of Cardio Coach???!:p;):D

You need some sort of fitness equipment or else the ability to run/walk outside, or bike outside. They are so adaptable. Check him out at cardiocoach.com. My fitness level (cardio/endurance) skyrocketed when I started using these.
