STS-Number of discs

Hi Cathe-

I am VERY interested in & excited by the STS workout concept and think it is an excellent value compared to hiring a personal trainer.

But, I'm just wondering why the system is spread out over so many discs? I am asking from a practical standpoint (storage & organization) and also considering how much space there is on a disc why does each body part require 4 DVD's over each mesocycle?

I look forward to shock training with you!

Not Cathe (as you can see ;)), but I believe she said that each week would essentially be a different routine, even within the same mesocycle. She had originally planned those different routines as premixes, but in order to do them as premixes, it would compromise smoothness in transitions, etc., so they worked best as individual workouts on different discs.

Not sure if I interpreted what she said correctly, but this was my understanding...

We want this series to be on single layered discs so there are no layer change points. A single layered disc can only hold about 80 minutes of video at the encode rates we like to use. We also want the option of being able to sell these workouts separately in the future if we decide to do so. With the right type of packaging the discs really will not take up that much room. For example, if we use dual thinset cases the total shelf space will only be about 5 ½ inches. If use a thinset quad case even less room will be needed. By contrast the Hardcore series, which is only 11 DVDs takes up nearly 7 inches of shelf space. We’re still looking at various packaging options, but I don’t think shelve space is really going to be a problem for anyone.

When I get STS, I will probably put the discs in a DVD binder, like where I have most of my workout DVDs now (thought I might have a special separate binder for STS).

The current binder looks like this:

No reason they have to take up much shelf space anyway.
