STS NEWS YEARS CHALLENGERS...WEEK OF JUNE 5!

jnka825 said:
Hi everyone! My name is Kristin and I was a member of this check in during the first 3 months. I started STS for New Year's and finished my first 3 month rotation at the beginning of April. The last few weeks I have been doing more cardio and full body workouts, such as MM, ME, SS, PP. I have also done weeks of 4DS and gym styles. I got the STS itch though and so I am doing another round, but this time 3 weeks of M1 and 4 all of M2. I am shortening it up so that I can be done before the NJ RT, which I am going on.

I recognize some names, but not many. Wendy kind of talked me into coming back now that I am doing STS again. Here I am Wendy ;)

Okay, some background info on me. . . I am going to be 34  on June 16. I have two boys, one is 5 (he'll be 6 in August), the other is 3 tomorrow!!!! I am a teacher and also just finished coaching tee ball for the first time ever. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Yesterday I did M1 D1, and today was AS and SB abs. Tomorrow will be M1 D2.

Kristin

Kristin's back! Yay. Glad u could join us again ;) I like that shortened version of STS, maybe I should've done that  . I can't wait to hear about your experience doing that rotation :). Happy birthday to your boy :D

No workout for me this morning but I wanted to pop in and say hello! :)

Kristin: Welcome back!! I think the joined the group right around the time you finished STS earlier this year. Just to give you (and Kris) and little background about myself, i'm 27 years-old, been married to DH for 4 years, and as of now our "kids" consist of our 2 cats - Lizzy and Lucy. I have 2 nephews that I adore and spend as much time with as possible. One just started t-ball, maybe you can give him a few coaching pointers! ;) I'm an attorney and I currently work for a judge w/ the Kentucky Court of Appeals (love my job). Good luck with the shortened STS rotation! That's a great idea. I'm currently halfway through STS (just finished week 2 of Meso 2 yesterday) and, after a few months off i'm thinking of doing another STS rotation but doing one body part per day (I think Wendy came up with this idea). Happy happy birthday to your son!!!! I'm very jealous that you are going to the NJ Road Trip! I wanted to go something awful. Maybe next year. :) Can't wait to hear all about it though.

Kris: Great job with Disc 3 and getting that extra cardio in as well! Are you feeling the DOMS yet? ;) :p I've also found I need that extra cardio to keep my weight under control. It's tough to add in after an STS w/o (especially legs). You go girl!!!

Tracy: I know about working out instead of eating...sometimes I just have to get myself exercising or out of this house walking the dog before I empty the pantry and fridge straight into my mouth!!! Wow, what a concept! No seriously, I should try this sometime instead of just constantly stuffing my face. Brilliant! :D Cathe wrote once that for every 2 calories you eat (extra snacking, not normal meals/snacks) you should do 1 push-up. Maybe i'd quit eating my nightly oreo cookie (50 calories) if I knew I had to do 25 push-ups!! Did you end up going for a run last night? Do you like running? I was thinking of taking up running....

Kiki: woot, woot! Great job with LIC! I have to agree with Tracy, being on the forums is productive...right?!?! :) I hear ya on the workout clothes! I've actually found a few decent pieces at Target and TJ Max for a nice low price. Now that's my kind of shopping! Then again I never wear anything nice (i'm one of those home exercisers). You and Autumn will definitely have to find something cute for the road trip!

Wendy: Great job getting Kristin to re-join the group!! Hmmm...I might have to look up this Joey character too. Cathe is absolutely beautiful of course but nothing like a hottie hot guy to get ya through a tough workout!! :p ;) So far no leakage problems here but I do often have to stop and pee during my workouts (especially the ones over an hour). The other day I was really sucking down the water and about 3/4 of the way through I ran to the bathroom. A few minutes later, DH yells "Katie, why is the toilet seat wet"? Apparently I was really sweaty! :D

Autumn: I was discussing this with a friend of mine & we were discussing informercial ideas for my "kegelbells line"... it was hilarious... the whole "3 easy payments" and "hurry now & you'll receive KegelMax Xpress free... our gift to you". WOW!! That is kegel power when you can inflict pain. HAHAHAHA! This is hilarious!!! :p All of us can be your "real customers" and give our testimonials about how the KegelMax express was the perfect gift to help keep a pesky pelvis tight and supple. Thanks for the congrats re weight loss! Sadly my scale is a piece of junk. It can show a 3-4 pound weight fluctuation within a 5 minute period. So right now i'm judging by my clothes. :) As long as my pants don't fall off in public i'll keep the weight loss coming!

Good Morning!

This morning's work out was Body Rock's 600 Rep Fat Burner W/O. I didn't have enough time to do every rep as the work out is written. It calls for 10 exercises at 30 reps each x 2 rounds = 600 reps. I did 1 round of 10 exercises at 30 reps each but then for the 2nd round (to save time since I KNEW I wouldn't finish) I did 15-16 reps for 6 of the 10 exercises and did all 30 reps for the other 4. This totalled 510 reps I believe. I finished the work out with 3 minutes to spare. ;) I gave myself 60 minutes to do the work out not including w/u and stretch. In order to complete it in full I would probably need another 15ish minutes so I will keep that in mind for next time. :)

BBIAB for personals!

Good Morning. This morning I did 4DS LIS- all of it except the calves, which I did y'day in STS Legs. Honestly, I really did not want to w/o today because I was ti-yahd, but I just made myself and I am glad I did. LIS really is fun and perfect for today because the step portion was shhort.

Katie: I did run last nite. I did 4.5 miles on TM. I love to run. Mostly I love the way I feel afterwards and the way it burns fat like nothin' else for me. If I want to get lean I know that running is what works. The prob. is that for me to run on the street or outside is very hard on my knees and hips and the TM is nice cushion. But I get soooooo bored on the TM and it is SUCH a mental battle on the TM...10 seconds sometimes can feel like an hour...so I really have to get mentally tough every time. Usually i put in a movie and that helps...but I am thinking of plugging in my little ipod thing...it's the little clip one not the regular one....anyway my TM has a connection where you can plug in your ipod and it plays on its speakers.

Kristin: welcome to the forum. I don't know if I will be able to quit STS after finishing it!....I think I will be like you too and want to come back to it. Looking fwd to knowing you!

Fitmommy: hi! glad you got your workout on. I looked up Hot Joey. He is pretty...I must admit...but I also must say that I like my men with a little bit of a weatherbeaten look to them:)...

kiki: thinkin of you and your step woes.

autumn: you actually posted the "v" word  :p;) :D

Ok, all of the "v" and kegel and pants peeing talk is cracking me up! :D:D:p

Tracy:: Yes, Joey is very clean cut and GQ'ish. You sound like you prefer the more rugged type! I can like either type. I'm easy like that. ;) I really enjoy LIS. It's short, fun and the choreo isn't bad at all! I love your BodyRock rotation idea btw and might just run with it after STS is done!:D

Katie:: So you didn't gush about the wonders of getting to sleep in on a rest day this morning!!! Why not?:p LMAO re the wet toilet seat! I thought you were going to say that you were in such a rush to get back to your work out that you "missed" the bowl! :D

Kiki:: My DH normally doesn't bother me during work outs in much of any capacity. He used to always need clothes b/c I work out where the washer/dryer is also located but now that he's been starting work earlier it's not usually an issue anymore because he's usually dressed by the time I am ready to work out. If I am working out and the phone rings I will usually ignore it. DH is one of the few I will p/u for because when I tell him what I am doing he will state his business and let me off the phone quickly. I HATE being interrupted for more then a maybe a minute during my work outs!

Autumn::
Yes, there are vaginal balls, barebells, weights... all kinds of pelvlic floor fitness gadgets. :)
Oh my! TY for enlightening me on this topic! Now I am . :p

Wendy: You're right!!! I didn't gush about how great it felt to sleep in this morning. I think it's because i'm tired today so I don't feel as "rested" as I usually do on my rest days. I DVR'd So You Think You Can Dance last night so when I get home from work around 9:00 pm I decided to watch it (I didn't get it started until closer to 9:30 pm). It was a two hour program so even without commercials I didn't end up in bed until after 11:00 pm (which is soooo late for me ). Wow, 600 reps! That's crazy talk!!!! Do you use really light weights (comparatively of course). What's the BodyRock rotation?

Tracy: 4DS LIS is one of my all time FAVS! I definitely agree it's one to pop in the DVD player when you're (i) tired or (ii) not feeling so hot. By the time I get to the hip hop thingies in the warm up i'm usually smiling. Since i've been coping your cardio workouts lately (you mentioned Imax 3 so I just had to do it too) i'm going to add LIS to my calendar! :) :p Sorry you're tired today. :( I want to pick up running because, well, I just need to change it up! But, like you, it tends to really hurt my knees. Maybe if I get really good running shoes??? Hmmm.... ETA: I'm loving your new quote in your signature line! That's fabulous! :)

Katie:: I have been going to bed too late myself lately so I feel your pain. :( You asked for it so you got it-here's the link to the Body Rock website... BODYROCK.tv | Fitness Advice, Workout Videos, Health & Fitness | Bodyrock.tv She posts daily work outs. A Body Rock rotation would just be doing a work out off the site every day for a month or whatever. It makes me tired just thinking about it! :p The 600 rep work out I did was all body weight exercises so no weights at all and trust me they are NOT needed!!!!!!!!!!! Here's the link to that specific work out - http://www.bodyrock.tv/2011/05/28/600-rep-fat-burner-workout/. BTW, thank you for mentioning Tracy's quote! I hadn't noticed it before but I LOVE IT! :D

Where the heck is the kikster?:(

Katie: I am glad you like my quote...It just came to me this morning while I was doing my toilette (ie...getting ready). I was thinking of the people who either (1) didn't like me ( like my sister-in-law of ions of years) (2) people who just marginalize me (happens regularly) (3) people who down right hurt my feelings (doesn't happen often, because I am pretty thick). But, it might be catty of me...but I just decided that the best way to get 'em would be just to be happy and look as good as I can! :D:p then they'll hate me even more...but it'll hurt!!!!

fit mommy: I looked at that body rock stuff and that chick is hawrd core! yikes!!! I am still pretty hooked on dvds...so idk I might try it one of these days. I'm glad you like my quote too!!!:) I think it really is for all of us!!

Tracy - doesn't sound caty to me at all! In fact, it sounds to me like you've got a good head on your shoulders girlie! When others tear us down all we can do is build ourselves back up stronger and tougher than ever which absolutely includes, among other things, creating a lean, smokin hot bod! How we look and feel transcends into and affects every part of our lives (whether we want it to or not) so why not look and feel our best! :) Okay, I'm getting of my soapbox now I promise!

I'm here! Just been runnin around like crazy today, so been keepin up via phone, which of course means, I can't possibly say all I need to say w/o gettin arthritis in my thumbs

It also means, I have no idea what your quote says, lol. Cuz it doesn't show up :/

Hi there ladies - I did DM Scrambled cardio premix and Ab Circuits, weights and plates this a.m. - ouch ouch - with my poor legs stinging from Legs yesterday:confused: But got it done. Tomorrow is a planned rest day- I probably will only do a stretch or yoga workout, we'll see. I made a standby at our house for dinner today - this a.m. I put chicken breasts in the slow cooker, sprinkle with taco seasoning and then pour a jar of salsa and a can of reduced fat cream of mushroom soup over and slow cook away:) Very good, couldn't be easier and pretty figure friendly. I usually just eat it as is or over some lettuce. (When DH isn't around, I've made it without the cream of mushroom and its really good too - but he prefers it that way - he doesn't know I use the reduced fat variety or he probably wouldn't like it - hee hee)

Tracy - I love love love the quote! That's great:) And great job on the run!

Wendy - that Body Rock 600 workout sounds killer! Great job!

Katie - so funny about DH and the toilet seat - I am truly a sweaty mess with my workouts  I love your cats names - I have 1 cat (he's actually kind of a cog (cat/dog - I think he thinks he's a dog) :)

Kristin and Autumn - I look forward to getting to know you both:) (and oh my gosh Autumn, all that "v" talk cracked me up!)

Kiki - you're going to kick butt with that step by the roadtrip:)

Hope you guys have a great night:)

Kris: haven't done DM for awhile...maybe next week?? Good job for doing it...actually for some reason, the scramble ffffffrightens me... Idk>>>I get all intimidated by workouts sometimes.... Your recipe sounds good. AND I just got 98% fat free Crm mushroom. I am going to trying it very soon! It sounds like it would be great with plain jasmine rice (DH loves plain white rice). I have a lot of friends who a filipino and they gave me a rice cooker which I now love. How does anyone cook rice without it ? I wonder now :)

Katie: getting on a soapbox cleans things up sometimes! People who don't stand for something will fall for anything! go girl.

kikster: there you are!!! I remember those crazy runnin' around homeschool days, trying-to-get-it-all-done -in-one-day days! (with 4 kids in tow :confused::mad:) hope you are good...

TGIF Ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Well she did it! Zuzanna (Body Rock) has given me some pretty awesome DOMS in my upper body! :D TG I was smart and scheduled that w/o for the day before a rest day! I start M3 on Saturday! I need to be DOMS free, full of energy and ready to rock! ;) Oh and I've already scheduled myself for another BR torture session for this coming Thursday now! :D

Today was my official WW weigh in and I DID IT! Officially reached my goal and down .2 beyond it as of today! :D I am up from y'day's loss but I don't care! I met my goal! WOOT! I am going to continue on the losing path though. I reset it for another 5 pounds. Not sure I will actually take it to that goal but I'm liking the results of my losses so far so I want to continue and see what happens. Wish me luck! :)

Tracy:: Wait a minute! Did you say your SIL doesn't like you!?!?! What's up with that!? How can that be? There MUST be something wrong with this woman because that doesn't seem possible!!!!!:)

Kris:: Weights and plates is the toughest AC routine for me! OMG and this is keeping in mind that I've never even tried to do it all at once yet! :p I have only broken it up and done the segments separately and it kills me so ya see...don't listen to these crazy girls when they call me AB NAZI cause I am far from it! ;) LOL Your recipe DOES sound yummy! I may have to try it too but I think I would use low fat sour cream instead of the soup. Just a personal preference cause I LUUUUURVE me some sour cream! YUM!:D

As mentioned above-today is my rest day and I am gladly taking it-which doesn't happen often! I usually whine about it! LOL :p

Ok, so y'day was Squeeze Upper body + waiste premix, but I didn't get my spinervals completed. OMGosh, it really drives me crazy (yeah, yeah short trip ;):p) when I don't get to check off my planned activities. I was in tutu hell from 12-3:30 @ the dress reheasal & then feed the baby, fix dinner, run things over to the dance center, feed baby... my day was over before I knew it. So, I'm leaving today's workout open... TBA. :D

Wendy ~ Official CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :) So, your neck is healed? That's is AWESOME!!! My neck talks to me sometimes... not pleasant.

KiKi~ I'm still not skeered... or skurred :p;) Thank you for fussing @ me and your sweet compliments... but that is a lot to live up to . Now my kids, I will agree are beautiful li'l people. :) Wonder who will find who first @ Disney? I won't be in black & white so you may not recognzie me, hehe :p. I am gonna change my picture to share the avatar love amongst my babies... DS and DD#2 up next. Then I think I'll change it to me & my first post-partum margarita (the event was documented in pics, lol)... and you aren't bailing on this RT!!!

Tracy ~ Love you signature line quote!!! AWESOME & totally agree!!! I was thinking the other day... which resulted in this "40 things I've learned in the last 40 years note" & realized some people just don't like us just because. I used to get really caught up in this until I realized I was spending valuable time worrying about that when I could be focusing on the people who love & like me as is. I don't think you are being catty at all. LOL @ the "v" word. I am hanging my head... giggling. ;)

Kristin ~ Hi & welcome back!! I think you left right about the time I joined b/c I remember your name. ;) A little bio... I finished Meso 1 & 2 and then dropped out. My workouts are all over the place as I search for my magic bullet. I am trying to lose pregnancy weight... my fat cells are stingy. I am 40, happily married x21 years, mom of 3 (DD, DS, DD), a Women's Health NP (who uses the "v" word without hesitation, lol) turned SAH(homeschooling)M and adjunct faculty @ the community college.

Kris ~ I am looking forward to gettig to know you too!! Yeah, I am shameless in my "v" talk. ;):p Last night my MIL asked me if my 10 y/o DD#1 knows about TTOM, my DH answered "mom, that's just a natural part of Autumn's language. It is like talking about breathing to her." LOL, it is true. I sometimes don't think about the topic I'm discussing.:)

Katie ~ I am one of those kinds of home excercisers too, lol. I've been looking at Target. Our Walmart had some cute Danskin pieces. I'll have to get something soon though. We leave in 16 days!!!!:confused::eek::confused: I knew I could count on my fitness peeps & y'all would receive autographed copies of my Kegelbells DVDs of course. :)

I guess I better go get my workouts done, clean my house, and then get ready for recital. If I don't make it back for awhile, have a great weekend ladies!!!

fit mommy: thanks for the suggestion of KCM KB --I got it in the mail yesterday..(on ebay for less than Collage) I did it w/o #1 and really liked it. I like KCM too. In future I would like to get more of her w/o! Oh GREAT..:( :D more workouts to think of and obssess over:rolleyes:. I am sooooo happy for you that you met your goal!!! That is really an accomplishment!!! I hope that one day I will meet mine and it encourages me that you met yours...
BTW you are also soo organized to schedule a BR workout a week away.. ARe you the kind of person...(like my DH-he's the on time, neat one of this relationship) who sets their clothes out the night before for the next morning????

autumn: wise advice about not wasting time thinking about those who don't like you just because or any reason and focus on those who love you and you love!!!

Kris: your crock pot taco chicken is in my crockpot even as I write!

Today, as I wrote earlier I did KCM KB after I did my STS disk 18!!! Tonite, I still want to keep up on my 7 wks to 100 pushups...so I will hopefully do that this evening...but I was too tired this a.m. after an hour and a half of workout already:)

I pick up my husband from the Oakland Airport at 2 this afternoon. it's about time! that stinker. I'll be glad to have him home.

Ladies!!! Another crazy day, so far. Did NOT get a w/o in yet, just walked in the door. Soooo I'm gonna try to go knock that out and be back for personals...finally...

Kiki:: Get crackin' on that work out work out and get your "junk" back here and chat with us girly! :p;):D

Tracy:: So glad you are happy with KCM's kb dvd. Her style is different then Cathe's so when I first did that work out I wasn't too sure about it but it grew on me rather quickly! :) Yeah on one hand I can be very organized with my work outs but on the other hand I do suffer from what I call "exercise ADD" so I can take time to carefully plan a rotation one day and then dump it in favor of something else the next! :p I am sooooo not organized in any other facet of my life though! I am always running late, I am not very neat and have no set schedule for anything I do but my job and that's only cause they PAY me for it! LOL My house gets cleaned...whenever. My clothes get washed....whenever. Yup, I guess you could call me a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda gal! ;) I am also, truth be told, VERY lazy. You wouldn't know it reading my work outs but if not for them, forget it! I'd get no exercise! It takes me forever to get my butt moving in the morning and I am a big time waster and procrastinator when it comes to chores/housework. Not painting a pretty picture am I? LOL

Autumn:: Sorry about the repeat performance of tu tu hell. My neck is getting better every day! TY! I feel ready to take on M3 tmrw! :D Yup-I hear ya on the unpleasantness of neck pain. I was in tears last friday at one point! It was just awful!:(

TGIF:eek: I'm getting ready to do Stretch Max - That's it for me today - funny, I usually have looked forward to a rest day in the past, but not lately, I've got to remind myself a day off is ok... go figure!

Tracy - I hope you enjoy the chicken as much as we do, let me know what you think - it would be great on rice! Wow - great workouts for you today! Great job!!

Wendy - woohoo on the official below your goal!! Yay! Ab Nazi - that's too funny! Using sour cream instead of the soup sounds really good - if you try it, let me know:) (DH puts sour cream on the version I make too)

Autumn - wow, you're a busy lady! Great job on the workouts! I'm an RN, I know what you mean about talking about things others don't (without thinking about it) - lol! My hubby just rolls his eyes:eek:

Kiki - Hope you had a great workout! :) (Step?)

I've got a anniversary party (50 years!) to go to tonight and then a "new pool/yard" party for a neighbor tomorrow - also getting my hair done tomorrow. The parties will make it a challenging weekend for eating right - I do weight watchers and have saved points for it though:) I will be doing Disc 4 tomorrow and a Ab Circuit (yoga one I think) and will get some cardio in there too. I'll talk to you all later - have a great rest of your Friday!

Lickity split post... Spinervals done. Pull-up challenge done. Nursing the baby now, then tutu marathon begins @ 4. We don't arrive @ the auditorium until 5:30 but gotta get everyone ready & apply my li'l dancer's make-up. Recital starts @ 7. I work backstage tonight getting the dancers ready then tomorrow I get to watch while another group of moms dress the dancers. Backstage is chaos!!! Tutus as far as the eye can see & squealing young girls in tutus everywhere ;). It is all worth it though :) Hope to check in tomorrow. :).

OK ladies, please pace yourselves...this one could take a minute. :p I mean, I haven't really checked in, in like..forever , so I do have the right. Right?

Ok, here goes, in no random order....my rant:

OMG!!!!! The week that wouldn't end!!!!! I can't even believe I'm actually sitting down right now. (I mean, and not in a car, driving  ) Now it's thundering and raining like you wouldn't believe, and I wouldn't be surprised if this post doesn't make it (like if the power goes out )

First...has anyone noticed that the title to this thread is STS NEWS YEARS CHALLENGERS? I really don't even know when the extra "S" hopped in there. Whenever I start the thread I just copy and paste changing the date, but I just never noticed (or was anal enough to pay attention) before today. Weird, huh?

Second...Can we technically , still call ourselves New Year Challengers in the first place? Lol. I think Wendy is the only one that's still doing the challenge that started at the beginning of the year. Although I started early this year, I'm done now, and by the time I start back, it really won't be a "new" year anymore. Maybe we should just be STS Challengers? IDK, whatever, lol.

(OK, I'm starting to put things in order  , and I said I wouldn't do that.....moving on)

I don't remember what I last checked in about. But I think I said I did LIC & some form of stretching - maybe STS extended stretch (whatever day that was), the next day I did Amy Bento's In the Ring in the AM, and a run on the elliptical that night. Today I did Supersets, HIIT 30/30 and Stretch Max (resistance band segment). Now ladies, I'm sure that we're all well aware that I DO NOT typically workout that many times in a day, but...whatever. My endurance stinks, and if I'm gonna workout w/Cathe live (meaning I can't pause her ;) ) I'm really gonna have to work on that...

Anywho, tomorrow is our day of rest, so I know that I at least will get some reprieve from this crazy week...before it starts all over again

Ummm...I'm gonna hit send now just in case the power goes, and I lose what I 've typed so far. No need to worry, I will be adding more, but at least all will not be lost. Just call this your intermission. If you'd like to take a moment to refill your cup of tea/coffee/wine, I will be with you after these messages from our sponsor...
