STS New Years Challengers...Week of May 9

Today is Plyo Legs  the workout I've been dreading all week, lol. (But I figure I best keep throwing some STS w/o's in there so I can be rightly justified in sticking around here :p) But I'll also be doing the Extended Stretch which will at least end it on a relaxing note ;) I may also end up doing an elliptical run while DH works out, if my legs are willing to cooperate by then  .

Wendy: I will NEVER forgive you for that suggestion :p . I had it all planned out in my head, and on paper and had completely justified my planned course of action, and dismissed any and all guilt that I had over not working abs today. And then I read your post  , for some reason I feel the guilt coming back, you wouldn't happen to know why that is would you? :p

Katie: Yea, I only knew of the post reply button deal because of using other forums with the same setup. But I still recall what an eye-opener it was  . I love 4DS-LIS too, and I gotta admit that the hip hop repeater at the beginning and the fist pumping at the end :p make stepping a bit more bearable for a chick like me :D

Tracy: STS AND LBB?! Woman, you are good! Glad you still got the w/o in before the madness kicked in. Did you find the FAFSA stuff in the end? I feel you about the Cathe collection being complete, at this point I'd just be buying stuff that I wouldn't even use, just because it Cathe, lol. And quite honestly, if my DH ever noticed how many w/o DVDs I have are still in the plastic, he'd have me committed

Good Morning Ladies.

I banged out D22 this morning. WOW! Short but tough! No abs today. Never really have time for that when I'm doing STS during the week. I SHOULD have had time today because D22 is only 43 minutes long BUT ocourse I started my work out late!

Tracy:: NICE work out for you y'day! You rock! :D

Kiki:: So does this mean that you'll be taking my suggestion? ;)

Happy Thursday!

BBL~

kiki: I still have not done Intensity or Step Moves either. I laughed at your committed statement. funny stuff. I finally did find the FAFSA stuff, but it was touch and go.

Fit mommy and kiki: thanks for you workout encouragement. That is the one thing about STS...I feel like I am losing some leg strength because I used to do total body 3 times a week.... We'll see what happens.

Tracy:: I totally understand what your saying but also remember...in the immortal words of Cathe..."change is GOOD!" :) Your muscles get used to it and changes cease if you do any one rotation the same way for too long. Changing up from working legs 3x a week to once or twice will be good for them. You will also be lifting much heavier then you probably ever have once you get into the later weeks of STS so that's even more change for ya! ;) It took me ages to get up the nerve to give Step Moves a try. Took a while to learn it but once I did I realized how much fun it was! :D

Wendy: Ummm, yes, against my better judgement, I DID follow your suggestion :p (If I had just held out from reading this thread until after my w/o, it would have been all good ;) lol) I just did the warmup and the 7 minute core section from CCC in place of the plyo leg warmup. Which I suppose was good, because I was SO right in that I had no desire to do anything afterwards. Man that stretch felt sooooo good (especially going into cobra - to relieve the torture inflicted on that core :p )

Tracy: I agree w/Wendy. You may wanna take it easy on the legs, because the tri sets in M2 ain't no joke, lol. But, I guess you know your body better than anyone. I typically work legs a couple times/wk too (one heavy low rep day, one light high rep day) but I don't during STS. It is a welcome adjustment for me because I have such a love/hate relationship w/leg day  ....

Today I finally tackled INTENSITY. It was tough. I modified the plio-jacks because it was just too much for me...so I jumped with the arm part but don't do the legs in and out part. But I really did like it. At first I was thinking..."I wanna quit, I wanna quit" but then I refused to listen to myself. I think we all should refuse to listen to ourselves more often!!:D:p I, for one, can be extremely silly sometimes.

Well, then I did ME abs because that is one of my fav ab workouts.

fit mom and kiki: I hear you and thanks!. And I am no fool and will receive counsel!!! I will simply follow the program and see what happens. It is sooo ingrained in me to do my total body 3 x per wk.... But I was also was talking to my DH and he said that when he played football and was training they trained similar to the STS schedule...so....

DH is gone for 2 weeks...so I will be doing very little cooking and hopefully living on salads (He can only handle about one salad for dinner per week:p..he's such a guy). Thinking about what I will do with my free time!!! extra workouts probably! friend movie night probably! Kids pb & j dinner sometimes definitely!

Y'day Lauren Brooks The finished + 4 minutes kbell swings + 2 mile walk.

I am tellin' ya, my DH is a saint to have survived 20+ years with me, lol. Today's w/o is pending.

Katie ~ Yay for sleep!!!! Yeah, I have horrbile allergies too plus I have Chronic Idiopathic Angioedema (my lips swell for no reason :(). I HAVE to take antihistamines to prevent the angioedema, which is just uncomfortahble and ugly. I finally found an antihistamine I can tolerate. I've been considering the allergy shots but haven't decided. It is a commitment.

Kiki ~ LOL, yes, the introvert pact. We should be a quiet group, huh? I should mention I'm not as introverted once I get to know a person.:D I haven't been on my spin bike in a long time & I never look as awesome as Cathe's crew when I finish any workout... especially spinning.

Tracy ~ WOW STS + LBB!!!! I'd still be in the basement. ;) I used to LOVE CTX, but I haven't done it in ages... except for Leaner Legs which I adore.

Wendy ~ How did I know you would suggest abs first. :p

Ok, better try to get my workout in before the munchkin wakes and while everyone else is out of the house.

Hello.

Once I got into work I was unable to get into the forums until just a little while ago. The website just wasn't working correctly. Booh. :(

This morning's work out went as follows::

KCM Circuit Burn: Cardio/Leg (circuit) premix -I only did half of this (15 mins) because it repeats itself for 2nd half.

KCM Circuit Burn: Boxing/Leg (circuit) premix - Again, only did half (15 mins) for same reason.

KCM Split Sessions: Floor work which is leg work using a band and one ab exercise. (15 mins?)

And last but not least, one 2.5 min plank hold on elbows just to make sure I was COMPLETELY fried! ;)

All totalled w/a stretch at the end it took about an hour. Great sweaty burn! :D

Kiki:: Nice job getting the abs done! Very time efficient too! :) See? You are learning something from the AB NAZI wether you thought you wanted to or not! LOL :p

Tracy:: Intensity is awesome and so nicely chaptered that the possibilities are endless! Good job! :D

Autumn:: Nice job with the kettlebells. I was supposed to be putting a kettlebell w/o in place of my leg/cardio day but it hasn't happened yet.

WW weigh in #4 today. No loss but no gain either so I can deal with that! ;)

BBL or over the weekend!:)

Hello!!

I just finished STS 9 which is Legs. It was pretty good. Got up a sweat. But that's it for me today.

Fit mommy: I notice you changed your avatar(?) I like it! Why did you choose that one? I admire how you get up early and exercise and THEN go to work. wow.

Autumn: I think you are the third person who said "wow" or sthg like it to me adding LBB to STS! :) I think it's funny because I only did 30 minutes of it and then I was soooo done.:eek: I'm not really that amazing!.You guys are so nice and encouraging!!!

ricklyk!: Katie I hope you are sleeping. I have been thinking of you, and hope you don't mind, but praying for you to get sleep. I hope your marathon work day went ok and that you are ok, girl!:) STILL appreciating your tip of the other posts UNDER my reply!

Got to go shower and then I am getting the girls from school early. Since DH is gone gone I am going to my dad's for the weekend. He lives up in Twain Harte here in CA and has a lovely log home in the mountains/woods. We are all looking fwd to visiting him. I would love to post pics if I could figure it out. I am taking workout stuff. He has a theatre with a huge-ippotamus screen. I am going to see if I can workout in there (pushing couches aside) and workout with life-sized Cathe and friends.

blessings to you all and work it!

So DH convinced (read: begged) me to come down and do the elliptical while he worked out ("time just fly's by when your there" ), and BOY was that a mistake. I'd already felt a little twinge in my knee after finishing Plyo Legs, and had told myself I'd take it easy so as to not aggravate it. Well, by the end of the night (almost immediately following that elliptical shenanigan) my knee is ON FIRE!!! I was puttin all kinds of Tiger Balm and whatnot on it last night trying to make it through the rest of the night. I was so happy when it kicked in so I could get some sleep :( . This morning, I woke up and iced it right away (hadn't felt any pain yet, but just in case). Forgetting that I was all numb, and not sure if I had an actual injury, I attempted to do LIC (cardio blast premix). Ummm, no. I made it about 20-30 min or so (skipping "blasts) and realized, I would be doing myself more harm than good if I continued, so I quit :(

*SIGH* Oh well, at least tomorrow is a planned rest day anyway, since I realize now (that I've been limping around all day  ) that I wouldn't be able to do anything anyway. I have yet to know what Sunday will have in store. Guess it'll just be stretching and foam roller mania til then...

Tracy: Good job on cracking open Intensity ;) . Maybe you'll inspire me to rescue some of my DVDs from their current cellophane prisons. :p Although, I will admit that my knee throbs, just thinking of it (especially Intensity, that's a good one) Please do post some pics of your weekend, it sounds SO relaxing. I'm thinking the life size Cathe might intimidate me a little bit, though ;)

Autumn: Yes, I'm the same way. VERY shy...til I get to know ya, then it's all blah, blah, blah (and you thought I just rambled in my posts, HA! :D )

Wendy: Yeah, it's looking like a couple of small changes were made to the forum. Maybe that's why your couldn't get on earlier? Nice workout today! I wish I could've broken a sweat (I was just too worried about breaking something else :p ) . At least I did get in those abs when I did, cause I'm NO good today, lol. It's my busier day (my storm before the calm, lol, since I typically relax BIG time on Sat), so if it didn't get done this AM, then it won't be done ;) . Yep, you're whipping this dough-girl into shape...one ab workout at a time :D

Have a good weekend, everyone! :D:)

kiki.. I am sorry and so bummed for you about your knee!!! I hope it heals soon. A few weeks ago I was thinking I might have to have a hysterectomy and I was so bummed, just thinking about having to lose all my fitness gains in the last 6 months (now almost 7) that I couldn't hardly talk about it. I pray that your knee just needs a few days off. It is sooooo sweet that your husband wants you there with him. I love it!!! It says a lot about both of you:)

Love the "cellophane prison" you are clevah!

Hi ladies! Happy weekend! Sorry i've been MIA for a few days. Thursday I spent the day in court in Louisville (a town about 1.5 hours from where I work). It was actually an easy day, which was nice. Yesterday my 4.5 year old nephew spent the day with me and he's actually at the house again today. We're getting ready to plant flowers and then he's got a soccer game this afternoon. Hopefully i'll squeeze in my workout. I've got Step Moves and Disc 10 (plus some kind of abs) planned for today. Yesterday I did Step Blast + SJP abs. Thursday was Disc 9. Yowza! I forgot about the plyo jacks in Step Blast and I was making some not-so-nice comments because my legs were soooo sore from Disc 9. :p

Kiki: I'm so sorry to hear about your knee!! :( I know it is frustrating when an unexpected injury puts you on the sideline. It sounds like you are taking very good care of yourself though. Fingers crossed it heals quick! If you get desperate for a workout, maybe you can do the punching combos from MMA Boxing sitting down...not sure how that would work, but just a thought! :)

Autumn: I took allergy shots when I was in high school and they made a HUGE difference for me. I played soccer at the time and my allergies got so bad at times I couldn't breath. The allergy shots cleaned it all right up and I felt a million times better. You're right that they are a commitment, but definitely worth it. I'm considering going back to allergy shots myself.

Tracy: I'm not gonna lie, i'm kinda glad i'm not the only one who didn't know about the thread below the text box. HAHA! :D Thanks sooo much for your sleep prayers. I don't mind a bit and always appreciate it very much! I actually slept better the second half of the week but had a rought night last night. I'm gonna lick this though! I'm not a stubborn red head for nothing! ;) Yay for Intensity! I really like that workout but agree, it's TOUGH! Great job on pushing through it...I need to try that technique sometime because I have a bad habit of giving up. It sounds like you got some great additional workouts too! CCC and HiiT are both fun AND tough - a Cathe classic combination! Hope you're having a great weekend in the mountains!

Wendy: Wow, what a great workout combination yesterday! Mixing and matching workouts like that is so much fun. One of my favorite combos is HiiT 30/30 plus Imax 2 (combos 6-10). I always feel exhausted at the end but VERY accomplished. I agree with Tracy - you're new avatar is awesome! I had trouble getting on the forums yesterday too. I got in the morning once but when I came back later to check-in it was acting silly. I like having an Abs Nazi in the group. Everytime I think about skipping abs I apply my new motto - WWWD (What Would Wendy Do)? :p I'm thinking about getting braclets made. ;)

LaDonna: Hi girlie!! I hope you're having a great weekend!!!

Quick post to report my early morning pre-party work out. I'll catch up on personals tmrw!

KCM Train Like a Contender's Coffey Blend Premix (47 mins cardio)
