STS CHECK IN DISC 14

Hi All! I am so sorry I completely forgot to post a check in today. This day has been so full and it feels as if I have been all over South Jersey today, ha.

Ok, so I am laced up and going to do STS Disc 14 right now!!!!! I'll report in tomorrow since it will be so late when I'm finished. I hope you all had a great workout.

Nighty Nite!

Wow (again)

This workout was no joke. I did not take extended breaks during the repeated 3 sets of tri sets. Would that be a tri set of tri sets or perhaps a mega tri set round? ;)

Anyway, after I got done each round of tri sets I took a bit of an extended break for equipment exchange. I worked within each round without stopping except for the 60 second break between tri sets. Ok, I am sure I have lost all of you at this point with that lol!

Moving along...This workout was great. I liked the format - it was tough! I was wiped after the first round. I think that was the toughest by far. We had squats, then one leg elevated lunges and finally deadlifts. Yes, that was the toughest!

The second round was grueling, but a bit easier than the first. However, I was already fatigued from the first round. I am getting better with the paperplate work and that is nice. I plowed right through those plie squats with great form and power. I was proud of that. I liked the combo of one leg lunges w/ paper plate followed by static lunge. It was tough, but certainly just put the icing on the c ake of what were my quads and hams haha!

I welcomed the 3rd round because I was starting to twitch and tremble. I like the twitches because I know I am working hard. It was nice to do the side slide lunges in between the squats. I am still learning this move so I only did it with 5 lbs. I had done them during meso 1 with no weight. Next time, I am going for 10 lbs for these.

I did the calf raises a little differently than on the video. I tried that orginial way, but I was falling all over the place. Then I realized I set this up all wrong so I just went to the floor and completed the reps. I misread my notes, but I still got the calves exercised. I know what to do for next time!

All in all - great workout!

Becky, you liked the plate work in between the squats? I thought it was a cruel joke to see what we were made of! LOL (just kidding, well kind of !) Just about killed me!

In love with one leg elavated lunges

I did disk 14 this morning, and I LOVED IT!!!! I adore the one leg elevated lunges because I can get really deep and focus on my glute. I am looking forward to being sore in the morning. Good night.

disk 14

Good Evening Everyone-

Here is my synopsis of my thoughts during the tri-set rounds at 5:30 this morning.....

Tri-Set 1:
Feeling strong
Feeling strong
Feeling strong
Break 1: Must...breathe...air...air... ;)
(repeat 3x)

Tri-Set 2:
Its only 10 reps...
Its just 10 reps...
Really, truly, its only 10 more reps...
Break #2: Its good for you...you enjoy the pain...you are not completely insane....
(repeat 3x)

Tri-Set 3:
@&*!&()*&*!!!
@&*!&()*&*!!!
@&*!&()*&*!!!
Break #3: Stay on your feet...must resist urge to lay down on the floor...no, no, dont do it, stay on your feet....
(repeat 3x)

How I am now feeling and prognosis for tomorrow....
Ouch! when standing....
Ouch! when sitting....
Ouch! when walking...
(repeat all day...) :p

All in all I did enjoy it despite the feelings above and 10 reps is definitely better than 15 reps for me on legs, I feel much stronger and accomplished with this type of training. :D

See you Friday, enjoy your evening...

Mary :)

Haha!

Shani, that is funny. The static lunges and especially the one leg elevated lunges are the exercises that destroy my legs completely.

I have no idea why, but the plate work was easier for me this time. I only used 5 lbs for the side slides and I used 30 (2X 15 lbs) for the slide back lunges. I think it was because the poundage used was so much lighter than the other exercises. My arms got a break. The lightest weight I used was 70 lbs for the other exercises - except for elevated lunges. I used 40 for those.

Hi Cathe and my fellow STSer's!:)

Checking in with Disc 14 Legs-

STS- Legs, Meso 2, Disc 14= 48 min
Calories burned= 393
This was so much fun and it just simply flew by. I loved the Tri-sets those were awesome. The paper plate section are always amazing, they are so tough but they really work several muscle groups in the legs and pulls in the abs as stabilizers- Nothing like multi-tasking muscular workout that ups the calorie burn too! gotta love that!!! I always love Cathe's STS Leg workouts and its nice to see Cede too! I really loved the Tri sets and the Elevated lunges and oh man weren't those tri sets of Calf raises just killer. I still have a little bit of DOMS from Monday. I'm hoping the DOMS if I get them from Disc 14, aren't too bad. I still gotta run and do Step blast tomorrow!

Take care and Hugs!:)

You know, I think it was the prior sets that killed me so that by the time I got to the plate work, my muscles were quivering and spasming just to pull myself back up (especially the sides lunges with the plates). It wasn't so much the weight, as simply pulling out of that lunge. ;) One day, I'll be able to do them easily (ha!) and not just holding onto 4 lbs. ROFL (who would have thought I'd be crying over 4 lousy lbs!?)

Feeling a little shaky right now

Hi Everyone! I'm still winding down from tonight's workout so I thought I would post about it while it is fresh in my mind (and legs, ha).

Well those trisets did not disappoint. They got the job done quickly, they got the legs nicely fatigued, and the pace and format kept things moving right along. I was shocked (quite literally, ha) when it was time to do calves. I thought I could kind of kick back a bit on that part....WRONG! I forgot about that little bonus I threw at everyone on those.

I think I will be good and sore but hopefully not the way I was the very first time I did a leg workout. I also teach a lower blast workout once a week and I think that will keep my legs from totally going into DEEP DOMSville.

I liked the exercises and it sure felt good to not put the weights down on the side and back slide lunges. The narrow stance squats felt powerul too. I LOVE trisets...now let's see if they love me back ;)

Hi Everyone !

I did disc 14 yesterday morning and today..........................OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I'm not kidding. I feel it EVERYWHERE! Deep in the glutes, inner thighs, and calves are especially screaming at me !!!

I LOVED the tri sets ! That workout flew by .

I know I'm going to love this meso cycle (too)!!!!!!!!!

But now I'm just hoping I can get around today..........sitting is painful......walking is painful...........
but I sure know I WORKED my lower body!!!;)

Becky

HI all. I did Disc 14 yesterday and LOVED those trisets. It flew by just as fast as Mesocycle 1 workouts did. That calf raise at the end was a killer. Thanks for the surprise on that one Cathe! I had to grab a lighter weight immediately. My legs are extremely sore this morning but I somehow just got through Step Blast. As you say at the end, I had a BLAST!!!!

Have a good day everyone.

Bev

I dont know how I am going to make it thru Step Blast after that leg workout! Wow!!
Those tri-sets really got me - and not getting the rest until after all 3 - my heartrate was up there and I was sweatin!! I am loving the higher weight and slower pace, it reminds me of slow and heavy and I love that series.
Thanks Cathe!!

Michelle

Good morning everyone! I completed Disc 14 yesterday evening and my legs are talking to me today! I am good and sore. I just wish I didn't have to get up from my chair as often!

I am proud that I was able to do the sliding paper plate (back and side) with 12 lb DBs. I was using either no weight or only 5 during Meso 1. For some reason, the elevated lunges just did me in! Everytime I got to the second side, the elevated leg was shaking! I really like static lunges and prefer them to the non-static version. I don't think I ever get as low as Cathe's crew! I always laugh when Cathe says that your knee shouldn't touch the floor. I am thinking "no worries here of that happening!"

Looking forward to Friday's Back and Biceps workout. I am still sore from Monday's Chest/Shoulders/Triceps!

Have a good day everyone.

Carrie

I did this on Tuesday. Felt great in the beginning, but by the third tri-set a general malaise set in and I really wanted it to be over (but I say that in the best possible way lol).
I was very excited about not having to put down the weights for the plate work.
Calves were quite the surprise.
I liked the workout and love lifting heavier, but miss the variety of the exercises in Mesocycle 1 and my all time favorite Gym Style Legs.
Happy Thursday!

Yet another winner :D! I really liked the trisets on the first two rounds - by round 3 I will confess being dubious about them :p. But in the best way, of course ;).

I did this one Tuesday and my inner thighs are still screaming . But that makes me very happy as they need it ;)!

I loved the leg workout. I really, really, really loved it.

I've only competed two discs in this Mesocycle, but I already know this is going to be my favorite. ;)

Disk 14 Legs

Also did this yesterday. The usual suspects are feeling it it today: calves, hams and glutes. My chest is is still sore from Monday! The 10 reps per move really helped, and no low-ends made me happy. ;) I don't have Step Blast, so I will be doing a Premix from Cardio Fusion today. Feeling good!

The tri sets on Disc 14 were a Tough challenge! I was sweating and breathing like as if I were doing plyo jacks! I loved the way it felt. Legs were always my enemy but not anymore since STS. :D My weights were dead on and I was amazed at how much I could handle.;) I am getting much more comfortable with the paper plates. Each disc truly becomes my favorite. I have such a nice soreness today. Something I missed last week while resting.
DH couldn't take it and had to see what it was all about and started STS on Monday. His face was priceless when he finished. (I'm keeping that in my mind when I need a little giggle). He has been lifting heavy for many, many years and was dripping sweat and looked like he got run over when Cathe was finished with him, ha!.:p
