STS Body Rockers - September 2012 :)

Good morning!!

Monday's workout was Step Blast. I remember when I first tried SB on Fittv in 2004, I got winded after the warm up!! :p Now I can do the entire thing with no problems. Of course I was much heavier then, but I kept at it & eventually worked up to finishing it. The blasts were edited out of the tv show. I didn't find out about them until I bought the dvd. Instead of the stretch I did Namaste Yoga.

Wendy, she has tried a little yoga, but it doesn't hold her attention like TF. So I guess you are liking these TRX classes. I need to look on youtube to look at some. I still don't know exactly what it is. I don't blame you for waiting, I don't travel in bad weather unless I have to. I like FFY alot, will probably fit that in this week. I am joining you for coffee right now, about to get my second cup.

Have a great day All!!

Ew, what a gross day here. Rainy, windy, awful. :( Sounds like Wendy is experiencing similar lovely weather. ;):p

This morning I did Pure Strength: Chest, Triceps, and Shoulders. Excellent workout! I used heavier weight than Cathe a few times, but really she wasn't using weights that were that heavy, relatively (think 10s for bench presses). I still really enjoyed every minute of the workout. I added on the abs section from the bicep/back workout. Thank goodness Cathe's ab routines have evolved over the years. :p;) Gazillion crunches = boring!! After work I hope to run 3 miles. If it stops raining i'll run outside. Otherwise, i'll run on the treadmill at the gym.

Wendy: Isn't that a Fat Albert quote?? Or something to do with Fat Albert... I can't place it, lol!:rolleyes::p Is there a clip of the Kundalini Fat Free yoga somewhere online? I looked for one but alas I was unsuccessful (I love the word "alas", am I showing my true geek colors? :p). I hear ya on not wanting to locate a new place in the rain. I hate trying to find places when it's sunny and beautiful outside. :)

Wiggie: Step Blast is such a goodie. I love hearing about your fitness improvements. That's so awesome!! I didn't originally know the 2nd and 3rd blasts were edited out of the Fittv show either; I about died the first time I did the DVD and realized Cathe was going to keep going. :p:D I'm sipping coffee with you and Wendy too! :)

Hi Kris!!

Hello.:)

Ok, after a nap and alot of stalling I finally did my work out! Aren't y'all proud of me!? :p LOL STS TB Premix #7 and the no equipment stretch
Stretchmax. My azz is going to be sooooo fired up tomorrow! Insanity should be intersting!!!!:confused::eek:

Katie:: Sorry but you are incorrect! :p The answer to the question was NOT Fat Albert! Watch this youtube clip to find out! Spefically around 2:05!!!;) It's actually a 10 minute clip from a very funny episode - I remember it! :D What's Happening!! - It's All in Your Head - 3 - YouTube
Nice job with your work out! I hear you re the older ab routines! Oh and as far as seeing what the Kundalini yoga dvds I do are all about...go on youtube and type in Ana Brett Ravi Singh Kundalini Yoga and you will get clips of their different work outs. They are super short but it'll give you an idea atleast...any questions, go ahead and ask! :)

Wiggie:: Great job with Step Blast! I remember seeing Cathe's work outs on fittv but I never did them. Hope you enjoyed your morning coffee! I am not surprised that yoga doesn't hold your GD's interest. It doesn't hold many ADULTS' interest!!!!:p

K, that's all for now. BBL or ITAM!

Ok so I was scouting around looking for information regarding which organization I should certify with for PT. I decided to take a shot and check out what my local community college had to offer and they have something that sounds phenominal!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the blurb from the college website -

Quote:
Personal Trainer National Certification Program

exercise physiology, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, cardio-respiratory
fitness, nutrition, musculoskeletal injuries, weight control, health screening,
motivation, teaching techniques, and more. National certification exam given last
day of class and fee is included. The Heart Saver Adult CPR course is required for
certification, and may be taken before, during, or after the course. A 30-hour post
course internship is required upon successful completion of certification exam.
Co-sponsored with World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.).

And here is the link to W.I.T.S. - Personal Training Education from W.I.T.S. -- the Best Provider of Personal Trainer Schooling

I found the information earlier in the day and since then I've read up on it, checked with DH and already signed up! All I have left to do is get the textbook that is required for the course! I start a 6 week intensive program on Saturday October 13th! Classes run 8 hours per day (half lecture/half lab), every Saturday for 5 weeks and then the 6th week is your exam. Sooooo excited, nervous, scared! WOW!!!!:D:D:D

Good morning All!!

Tuesday's workout was Step Blast again, I didn't do the blasts, I just repeated the finished combos until my hour was up. Then I did workout #2 of Namaste Yoga. I like that NY is short(25 min). I skip the stretch of my workout & do that instead.

Wendy, I am so excited for you!! You don't waste any time do you? I wish you the best of luck, not that you need it!! :p

Katie, did you get to run? Good job on PS, went heavier than Cathe? Oh my!! :D

Have a great day Everyone!! ;)

Good Morning. :)

I've been awake since just before 4am, got up at 5:45 and laid back down for a nap from 8 to 8:40 already! I'm on my 2nd round of coffee now trying to wake up from my nap!

Today's plan is Insanity (Cardio Power & Resistance I think) and yoga.:)

My tush is sore but not as bad as I expected and I really don't have any other DOMS to speak of (not sure if I'm happy or sad about that!:p) so Insanity should be pretty doable today! Well, as "doable" as an Insanity work out CAN be anyway!

I am headed up to my SIL's to watch her train for a few hours once my DH gets home from work. She called y'day to see if I wanted to come back. Perhaps she thought the TRX experience was going to scare me off! Nope, not happenin'! :p Speaking of TRX...getting excited for tmrw's groupon class! :D I am taking a beginner class to start with but they also offer intermediate and advanced if I am brave enough in the future!

Wiggie:: You are just step blastin' away these days, huh? :D Great job getting the yoga in! So when will you do Bliss Hips again? Any plans on making another Kundalini dvd purchase any time soon? ;) Nope-I sure didn't waste any time signing up for that PT course! LOL When I decide I want to do something I become very impatient and don't want to wait! Even as I wrote that I would be signing up "this week" I KNEW I was going to end up signing up the same day. It's just how I am...like a kid in that way I guess. No patience at all!!!:p What stinks is that I have to wait weeks for the course to start now. I'll be jumping out of my skin with anticipation by then! LOL I am planning on taking a ride to the campus to buy the text book soon though. Thought of doing it today but my time is limited and I really should go food shopping instead. Maybe tmrw though!:D

BBL!

Morning!

Well, my afternoon run didn't happen yesterday. That is exactly why I switched to morning workouts, I can easily talk myself out of exercising after work. :D:eek::rolleyes: To make up for yesterday I spent 40 minutes on the treadmill this morning. A 5 minute warmup, 3 mile run, and a cooldown. I hate running on the treadmill. It about killed my knees. I also added on a short ab routine.

Wendy: Congrats on your PT course! Excellent, excellent, excellent! You're going to make one heck of a personal trainer. Have fun with your SIL this afternoon. Um, the words "Insanity" and "doable" should never be in the same sentence together. :p;) Kick butt today!! Can't wait to hear all about your TRX experience tomorrow.

Wiggie: You're turning into a Step Blast pro!! ;) I love Namaste Yoga for the exact reason you mentioned - it's short! LOL! Plus it is soooo relaxing, especially after a hard workout like Step Blast. I find the combo segment of that workout to be hard (on the heart that is). Keep up the great work!

I'm back and I survived! :p

Insanity:: Cardio Power & Resistance - check
Baron Baptiste:: Journey into Power 2 (40 mins of it) - check

Up Next::
Lunch, shower and food shopping!

Katie:: So did you check out youtube for yoga clips yet? No worries about the missed run. You made up for it this morning so it's all good. Why didn't you run outside this morning instead of using the tm? Too dark? LOL about Insanity and the word "doable". You are right! ;)

Good Morning! :)

So I went back to SIL's last night. I was "dressed" but had no intention of working out. I was there to observe. Well ofcourse she gets last minute cancellations for a class she had created for 6 people. Now she only has 3 participants so she asked me to do the class b/c 4 will be easier to make the class work then just 3. So yep, in good ol' Diana style :) I did THREE work outs y'day! It was a 45-60 min circuit class and it kicked my tushy! I am sore sore sore this morning! Me thinks TRX class today would be dumb. I'm disappointed but I don't want to push it and be sorry. YKWIM? What do you all think? Am I right or am I being a big whiner who should suck it up and go to the class today anyway? :p

So while I was panting and dripping sweat last night my cell phone starts to ring! This RARELY happens so I immediately got worried! I didn't pick up in time - it was DH. I talked to him after the class was over and he told me that one of the gyms I applied to called!!!! :D I have to call the woman back this morning!!! I applied for a front desk job (with hopes of training in the future). If they want to hire me I'm not sure how it would work out with the class starting up plus the internship I have to do but I am sure gonna find out! They could always be the ones I intern with I suppose so we'll see! SIL said that this particular gym has a reputation for being cheap when it comes to paying trainers but as a newbie I will deal until I get more experience if I have to.

SIL also said (which I disagree with but I want other opinnions here) that if it were her, and I was offered the job there that she would nix the certification and just go work for the gym and let them send me to get certed and that they should pay half. Well ok, saving some $ on the cert would be nice but the course (IMO) sounds too good to pass up! If it were a standard study at home cert I would agree but not in this case. Plus the fact that just b/c they may SAY they will make me a trainer doesn't necessarily mean that it will actually happen! I would rather get a job with a gym that will schedule me around the hours I have to go to class, etc. SIL also mentioned how much harder the exam will be for this course. Okay, that's scarey but isn't that a GOOD thing? If I pass then I obviously truly know the information I was taught! Passing an open book test doesn't even compare IMO!!! THOUGHTS girls?

Ok, sorry for the short story but alot happened here since I last checked in!:p BBS!

Hi girls.

Today's workout was Pure Strength: Legs and Abs. It was okay; doesn't make my "Cathe Top Ten" leg workouts.

Wendy: Three workouts in one day? Yikes! Smart move not to do TRX today. It sounds super tough, and you definitely do not want to risk injury. Congrats on the potential job lead!! That's very exciting. I understand what your SIL is saying about the gym paying for the certification, but it seems to me there are a lot of "mights" and "possibilities" in her explanation. The gym might pay for half of the certification, the gym might possibly hire you as a trainer at some point in the future. I (personally) think it's a better idea to get your certification now. That way you can always train clients on the side (if you want to of course) and start gaining experience even if the particular gym you are working at doesn't hire you as a trainer. Plus, if you have the certification, you can always be applying for other PT jobs. I mean, if the gym is cheap(er) about paying trainers anyway, it makes me wonder if they would actually ork out the money to get an employee PT certified. Just my two cents of course. :)

I have an interview set up for monday at 1pm with the gym that called me for front desk now and pt after certification is complete! :D

Good Afternoon,

So I have never been so embarrassed in all of my life!!! The school called just after 1:30pm today. I figured it was the nurse telling me that DS got a bump on the playground. Boy was I wrong! It was a teacher telling me that school was dismissed at 1pm so I needed to come get him!:eek::eek::eek: OMG I felt like such a heel!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek: Needless to say I ran out of the house to go get him as soon as I hung up the phone. I'm such greatful I hadn't gone out for the day so I was home when they called!

Katie:: Good job on PS Legs. Does this mean you've done all of the PS work outs now? Will you continue on to make it an actual rotation or are you moving on to something else now? LOL - yeah, 3 work outs in one day was NOT my plan! Well, not 3 work outs all 40-60 minutes a piece anyway! Three 20 minute ones would have been ok! :p Skipped TRX because I thought it was best but I am extremely antsy so I think I'll either take DS to the gym with me later or I'll do some yoga here at home. Sounds like we have the same thoughts on the cert issue. Now that I have a job interview with that gym on Monday I can ask them directly what certs they accept/suggest but chances are good I will go through with my certing plan no matter what. I can always get another cert in the future if it will benefit me. I feel the "experience" I will get from take this cert course will be invaluable to me so I don't think I want to let the opportunity pass me by!:)

That's all for now.

BBL!

Hi there ladies,

Quick check in for now - then I'll get caught up on all you've been doing! Looks like lots of good stuff! Well, Sunday I was up at 3 a.m. to fly to Minneapolis from Arizona - worked in the office there that day and out to dinner with my colleagues that evening, Monday we were in the office all day and then headed home Monday night... So, as I anticipated, I was pretty wiped out Tuesday (and Wednesday - getting old stinks... better than the alternative I know - but a trip like that wouldn't have floored me before). Anyway, today I did Yoga Max - Premix 1, pretty much feel back to normal energy wise, but decided one more day of rest/lighter workout would be ok.

Congratulations on the interview and the decisions about the career plan Wendy! You'll be great! 3 workouts in one day??? Youchhhhh!

Great job with Step Blast Wiggie! And Namaste Yoga too : )

Way to go on your treadmill run Katie! Also on PS Legs and Abs :)

Talk to you later ladies,

Kris

Eegads I found us on page 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL

Good Morning Girls.

Yesterday was a complete rest day so I'd like to get in a little bit of everything today - weights, cardio and yoga. I think for weights I will attempt to start a split routine with GS. Cardio will be either Insanity or a run and yoga is wide open - no idea what I'll decide to do!

Kris:: Wow, sounds like you had quite the whirlwind of a trip there. That would wipe me out too! Glad you are feeling "normal" again and begin your regular work out routine.

Ok, off to figure out my w/o and get to it!

BBL!

Good morning All!!

Wednesday's workout was Pump Extreme & Thursday's was Mama Wants #2 & Namaste Yoga #3. Mama Wants is good on days I don't really feel like doing anything but feel I should. I have got to do more running!! It is cooler now so I really have no excuse!! :p

Wendy good luck on your interview!! I agree with Katie's "two cents". This class is too good of an opportunity to pass up. Wow, I'm glad you were home too, but I'm sure you're not the only one that's happened to, so don't beat yourself up.

Kris, glad you're back safe & sound!! I've never flown, but I hear it can really take a toll on you. WTG listening to your body when it needs rest.

Katie, so over all what did you think of Pure Strength?

have a great day All!! :)

Hello again. :)

I am back from my appointment and finishing up lunch. All I managed this morning was the 43m Yoga Only Premix from Kundalini Cardio Stretch and Strengthen. I just wasn't feeling up to anything else for some reason....

I feel better now though I am going to try to squeeze something in before I have to leave to p/u DS from school and head up to my MIL's with him. I'll keep ya posted!

Wiggie:: Nice work outs! Nope, not the only one! When I walked into the school to get DS, he was one of probably atleast 10 kids who hadn't been picked up yet! I had to sign him out and the original list was much longer  but some kids had been picked up before I arrived!

BBL!

Hey.

No time for personals but wanted to report my work out atleast!

I did Iron Core Way kettlebell work outs 1 and 2 but only did half of each. She goes thru 1 circuit 2x in each work out so I went thru the circuits 1 time each instead. Then I added on one round of manmakers from KBYW2. Turned out to be about 50 minutes long and a great work out. I could be hurtin' tmrw!

Gotta scram...chances are good I won't be back until tmrw now!
Have good one ladies and Happy Friday!!!:D

Later!

Hello. Posting from my phone while out with DH so this will be short n sweet! Did Insanity Pure Cardio this morning! I only had to take breaks on the very last exercise. Otherwise just slowing down as needed worked out fine. :) BBL or ITAM!
