STS Body Rockers (formerly STS New Years Challengers :) - Week of June 26th

hey fit mommy: ! I am sure you can find some old torture-fest workouts at the BR site :p I wasn't blowin' smoke either when I said you must be in great shape to do those so consistently (not that you thought I was ) I really meant it. BTW I would love to have one of those sand bags, (don't have a kettleball either) but as I mentioned earlier, I have already spent too much this month. I have been thinking of what I might use in place of a sandbag? I have a back pack and I do buy 50 # bags of rice...I could put the rice in ziplocs(?) and then in the backpack, if I really want to ...maybe... Those STS legs do get to me...my legs are feeling it from yesterday too..

Here is a pic of MIL's brute beast from her facebook page...she loves the wretched animal...

Tracy:: Sure you could fill any sturdy bag with smaller bags of...well, whatever you want to make your own sandbag! I have little 8# sandbags that were the weighted portion of a 40# adjustable vest I once had and never used. I threw the actual vest out but still have the five 8-pound sand bags that came with it. I was going to put them in a small duffle bag and use it that way for her sandbag squats etc. You are very kind re my ability to do BR but I would reserve comment until I start the actual BR rotation! That could be an *entirely* different story!!!!!!! LOL I am planning on 4 BR work outs in a row, then 1 pure cardio work out of choice, 1 full body weight work out choice and a rest day. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. Unfortunately I can't view the pic of the doggy from here at work but I will check it out tonight when I get home for sure!:D

I started week 2 of STS today- and am amazed at how much stronger I am with the pushups. They still aren't perfect, but impressively better than last week. I would love to be able to do them on my toes, elevated on a ball, step, or bumper of a pickup truck- oh to dream!

Kris- that's great- 3 nurses on this board- I knew I was in the right place!

Tracy- I got Ryka Assist XT2's. I was going for some cheep $10sneakers, but they hurt my feet, and the Ryka's felt awsome- I have a pair at home- I knew I would use them later.

Woo hoo on the squat rack! Don't tempt me further. I am just saying no!

zbridget: I would love to get some Ryka's Assist XT2's...maybe someday!! Don't you worry about those pushups! you are going to be amazed at how much strength that you will gain these next few months! I think I started out doing them on my knees....and now I do them on my toes and am also doing 7 Weeks to 100 Push-ups (book).

Good Evening Ladies.

Quick post before I hit the hay. I went BR work out hunting tonight and found several possibilities that I can mix and match for tmrw morning's assault on myself! LOL Not sure how I'll choose but any of them should also be good for my weekend away at the casinos that's coming up so perhaps what I don't do tmrw I will do then so none of them feel left out! ;):D

Tracy::: Aw the dog was cute. :)

Bridget::: I think a lot of Catheletes use and really like the Ryka Assist XT2's. I have looked at them but haven't popped for them yet. Perhaps the next time I need sneaks. Ofcourse the ones I have now are pretty new so that won't be for a while yet....*sigh* LOL

Goodnight!:)

Hi there ladies:) I "did" Athletic Step this a.m. for the first time... oh boy - loving the step along with you Kiki:) That one isn't supposed to be too "dancy", but someone should have told that to my feet:eek: (I did preview it when I first got it... funny how they never look that difficult when they do it - lol) Anyway, managed toget a pretty good workout regardless (when I can't get a step part, I do Jumping jacks while I'm watching for next time... Lots of jumping jacks today... ) I also did AC - No equipment one - this afternoon.

Thank you all for the advice on the Recovery week workouts - I'm actually relieved that I can do some harder cardio - wasn't surewhat I was going to do next week - love the way I'm feeling and I don't want to get tempted to slack - I'll make sure I do cardio I like, but keep some challenging ones in there - try to balance that with core, stretching and stuff. Thanks again!

Tracy - great job on HIIT 30/30! And the pushups! :) The egg beaters and spinach in corn tortilla sounds yummy:) I can't believe how quickly the 1st meso has gone - crazy:)

Wendy - awesome workouts for you today! Great job :) Hope I make it to Disc 33:) The crockpot taco chicken recipe is so easy - I love it! All it is is chicken breasts, a bottle of salsa you like (sometimes I use green salsa, sometimes red, either way works good), a can of the reduced fat cream of mushroom soup and a packet of taco seasoning. Put it all in the crock pot and I usually cook it on high first for 4-5 hours and then a couple hours on low (probably would be fine on low for 8-10 hours if you couldn't get back to it to turn it down). It's yummy with a little light sour cream, would be great on a bed of lettuce, in any kind of tortilla - it's one of our favorites:) Hope you like it!

Bridget - woo hoo on week 2 of STS. It's amazing how much stronger you get each week on STS! I'm right there with you on those pushups! I'm almost done with week 4 and I can't believe how much better I do than when I started.

Kiki - I bet you're getting excited for your trip! I really can't wait to hear how it was in a live Cathe workout! And lol on your DH and the MMA boxing workout:)

Hi Katie, Jen, Autumn and Melanie!

Hope you all have a great night!

Kris

Also:

Tracy - awwww on your MILs pup:) Love me some dogs :)

Kiki - hope All Step went good - and lol on HIS - I totally get that!

Ok - nighty night to you all, talk to you tomorrow!

Kris

Good Morning Ladies.

Well I BR'd myself to death this morning. Ok, not literally but it was close!:p

Burpee Reptile Exercise Challenge (1 exercise-max reps in 10 mins-I did 70)
Pretty Fly Exercise Challenge (2 exercises-max rounds in 10 mins-I did 11.5)
500 Mountain Claimbers Challenge (1 exercise for time-6m 35s-gimme a break here, I was exhausted already! :p)

Total Time: 26m 35s. :eek::D;)

Kris:: TYVM for reposting that recipe. Much appreciated! I copied it and saved it on my pc for future use-probably next week sometime! Sounds delish!:)

BBL~

This morning I decided to do Athletic Step, since I saw that Kris had done it...and looking at my Workout Mgr...I noticed I had not done it since last month. DH and I were supposed to do a 20 mi. ride this morning, but it was too cold here...It was 53 degrees and with wind chill it would have been like 43. There is no way! I am going to have to steel myself and get tough for this winter to ride in the cold...oh and get some winter cycling clothes too.

fit mommy and itsup2me: don't let that dog fool you, he is a nightmare!:confused::( He is leaving today and I am sooo glad.

fit mommy: looks like scary BR stuff...good going for you:) but NO thankyou for me:p;) yikes! youse a tough gurl

Kris: I had to do AS at least 3 times before I felt comfortable with it! you inspired me to do it this am.

Tracy:: Yeah, this morning's work out was pretty brutal! The burpees were killin' me inside of the first two minutes! I've been dubbed a masochist by a fellow work out buddy so it's no surprise I lurve the pain that the Body Rock work outs bring! ;) Athletic Step is a goodie and it took me a few times to learn it as well. I haven't done in it a while either. Perhaps I need to revisit before I leave for the weekend!

Hi there:)

I did Disc 12 this a.m.:) Feeling it tonight for sure! (still feeling Disc 11 actually too ) Can't believe Meso 1 is over already. I have my cardio workouts figured out for the next few days, but need to figure out the rest of my recovery week - I love lining it out though and having at least a loose plan. (without a plan, I have, in the past, got overwhelmed trying to figure out which workout to do - and ended up doing none of them:eek: )

Wendy - No problem with the recipe:) I hope you enjoy it! Great BR workouts! Those look so tough! Thanks for the pep talk about Athletic Step, that helps:)

Tracy - Thank you too for the pep talk on Athletic Step - I'll have to give it some more time:) Thanks again. That's so cool that you and your DH are biking - I love that! I hear you about the cold -you'll have to get you some cute colder weather gear:)

Hi to any vacationing STS BRers who check in - Kiki, Autumn, Katie, Jen, Melanie:) Hope you're all doing good:)

Kris

Good Morning!

Wow so many of the group are out of town on vacation! How nice! Well, it's nice for the vacationers anyway! LOL :p Today is day 1 of the road trip! Can't wait to hear the stories when Kiki and Autumn return! I am dying to know how Kiki does with the step classes! ;)

This morning's work out was BM2 step combos only (kicks my azz every time!) + circuit 4/5/6 from Jillian's BFBM. Circuit 4 is all ab/core focused so before anyone picks on the Ab Nazi for not doing it, I DID work my abs today so :p on you! LOL

Kris:: Wow, I wish I could have said that about Meso 1 being over already but since I chose to do the long rotation and M1 is my least fave meso, IT.TOOK.FOR.FREAKIN.EVER to finish!!!!!!!!!:p You should give BR a try some day. It's seriously addicting!!!!!!!!!:)

Hello and Good morning. This morning I did 19.5 mile ride through the vineyds and town in 1 hr 18 min. It is not quite so cold today and it was great!

Fit mommy: It sure is empty here with just a few of us... cavernous even! Did the RT start today? how fun for them! I really would love to be there. But I am not as fit as I would like to be for going to an RT, so I think next year is the one to do. I have not done any abs today (or yesterday for that matter.) I really should think about it

Kris: woo hoo!! meso 1 done! Doesn't that deserve a new dvd or sports bra or something;) ??

I am off to clean floors because now the nightmare dog is gone (yipee for that!)

Tracy:: I'm sorry! The RT didn't start today. It starts tmrw. I'm rushing the week! OMG my floors are always a nightmare because of my dog and my husband between the dog hair, dirty paws and work boots! I went on a road trip in 2008. It was fun but extremely exhausting! Sounds like a pretty bike ride you went on! :)

Ladies, yes, the RT starts tomorrow! AND... wouldn't you know it, I'm sitting here, with my feet up... ON ICE!!!! My freakin Achilles! Omg!! I've been tryin my best to R.I.C.E it, but I'm fuming with anger and worry about being ok @ the RT! I will be SO disappointed if I don't even get to participate...wouldn't that be wonderful?

I'll try to keep y'all posted.. I guess the first w/o tomorrow will tell all

Hi there!

Kiki - so sorry your ankle is hurting!!! Hope the ice and R.I.C.E. do it. :( I'll be thinking about you and hoping for the best. Hugs - I know that must be frustrating!

Tracy - I like the way you think - I'm pretty sure getting through the 1st meso ought to be worth something too (I do have some 20 lb dumbbells coming... suppose that could be it - but it should be something funner!) ;) Awesome job on the bike ride, that does sound pretty through the vineyards:)

Wendy - Great workouts! I haven't tried BM 2 yet - one of these days:) I'll have to try the BR workouts sometime for sure - she's in phenomenol shape and your workouts sound awesome!

I did LIS cardio premix this a.m. and then AC -yoga this afternoon. :) I actually think I might get the levitation things on the AC yoga someday - there was a tiny bit of progress today from last time - something to work toward

Hope you all have a great night - TGIF tomorrow:)

Kris

Kiki: Just got home late...stuck in wonderful SFO Bay Area Traffic at 10 at night  Anyway, I am going to pray for you right now, that you will be ok and able to participate. It reminds me of when my DH and I went on a Royal Carribbean Cruise to St. Thomas, Barbados, Guadalupe, etc... and I had a raging sinus infection and was running a fever....oy!!!:(

Good Morning.:)

Well I was up til 11pm last night getting packed up and ready to go down to A/C this afternoon. Staying up that late on a "school night" is UNHEARD for me! Needless to say I am tired and was moving slow this morning so I didn't have the time to do STS Legs nor did I feel good about taking such heavy lifting on with such little sleep under my belt. That being said, completion of STS will be delayed by just one more work out  but it shouldn't be too difficult to fit in....

What I DID do, because I figured I should still focus on the lower body is Body Rock's Wild and Free work out that I've been looking at. It's 25 (sandbag) swings per arm + 100 hi knee jump rope reps x 10 rounds for time. I used my 20# K/B for the swings. I finished the work out in 24m10s and it kicked my butt and was a bit of a puke status work out as well!!!! I definitely recommend it! ;) I finished with STS Extended stretch. It was perfect. :)

Kiki:: OMG OMG I feel so badly for you! :( I hope you are able to participate in atleast SOME of the classes!!!! I started seeing pics from the early bird RT'ers last night on FB already!

Kris:: What exactly are "the levitation things" in your yoga work out? :p LOL Can you do the levitation holds for abs that Cathe does in Coremax? I can but only if I have something elevated like push up bars to put my hands on. When my hands are on the floor it's a no go for me. :( Yes, you definitely should try a BR work out! Didn't take me long to become hooked! :D

Tracy:: I live in Jersey so I know about traffic! How frustrating!:mad: I've had ONE sinus infection in my entire life and it was awful! Can't believe you had to deal with that on a cruise! Poor thing! :(

fit mommy: do you have a Gymboss? Or how do you do BR workouts if not? I have done them in the past by watching the clock, but that does not work very well. I have been looking at Gymboss and it looks like they don't carry them in stores, so I would need to order it. I think it would be best to have one, don't you?;)

Tracy:: Yes I have a Gymboss but it's the original version. I bought it when it was the "new toy" so there's no stop watch function on it. I either set the regular GB timer for way more time then I'll need to complete the work out and do the math when I finish OR I can use my cell phone or Ipod Touch b/c they both have stop watch functions on them. This morning and the last time I did a work out for time I used my phone. Why ofcourse if you are going to purchase a GB you will need to get the best model out there, silly girl! ;):)
