The buckwheat crispies sound great, part of the reason I got the dehydrator is so I could get the kids off storebought crackers and chips and such, because they love that stuff, so , yes, please let me know that recipe as well!

I am trying to cut and paste the link that has an article about the blender I just got and compares it to the Vitamix. At the bottom is a link to the main website for the blender. If you end up wanting to get that one, order it through this link, then tell the greensmoothiegirl people your order number and you'll get a 40.- value recipe collection for free that has blender and dehydrator recipes in it.I hope the link works!

Well...gosh...now I want the blender too....what color did you get? Did you buy the extra jar? Did you get the white or black dehydrator?

Oh, I forgot to tell you all - I got my firewalker bands yesterday so tested them out with Disc 3 today! YOU HAVE GOT TO GET THEM! They were great!

Oh, I will get them, that's for sure, I can never get the band untied fast enough for the next exercise...LOL!

I got the blender in black, just because that fits better with our other stuff, so I got the dehydrator in black too, altough I don't think I'll have it sitting on the counter unless I am using it.

I did get the extra blender jar, the big one and it is awesome! Luckily for me, I got in on a deal and got it for practically free, even though they sell it separate for 99.- or something like that. The blender comes with lots of recipes, they are not necessarily as clean as we like them but we can easily adjust them to our standards and get some more variety into our collection.

DH and I finished STS #3. I forgot how hard the leg workouts were in STS. I realized yesterday that I didn't have Cardio Core Circuit, I can't believe that I never noticed it before. I think I was confusing Circuit Blast and Core Circuit and thinking they were the same workout. I emailed SNM and they are sending me the dvd so I hope I have it before it comes up on the schedule next week.

Did you all see the drama that happened over on the Ask Cathe thread today??

Cendrine I'm so glad that you sent in your story!!

Jo I have an order on the way from Cathe with the new weighted gloves and a dvd to replace a VHS of KPC. I wish I had added a few other items as it's the shipping that costs so much. I should have got the firewalkers and the mat. I better wait a few weeks before I put in another order so DH doesn't get upset. I just got the calendar this week so lots of packages arriving from Cathe.

You really don't want to know what the weather is like up here:confused: Let's just say that WE find it cold. We're going to hit the minus 40s again tonight. The -20 are normal for us.We usually have some -30 in January but to hit -40 is very rare and we've had this a few times already this winter!

Rachael Your doggies sound like sweeties! I agree that most dogs are very smart! I sure miss have a dog around the house.

I'm excited to try Step Moves tomorrow but I'm also really looking forward to a day off as my body is feeling tired. I guess I did a few days of trying out the workouts and then straight into the rotation.

Burrrrr! Kim, you are a hero in my book for enduring such temperatures! Wow!

I went over to the ask cathe thread, did you mean the cool down drama? Some people have too much time on their hands, picking fights like that, don't you think? I haven't heard any of you guys complaining about it even though I haven't done them myself yet. Previewing them got me so excited I don't think a short cool down would put me off.... I liked what one poster said, that she was too busy sitting down to notice, that will probably be me too:eek:

I haven't forgotten how hard, or should I say painful disk 3 was! I'm afraid of it already and it's not even in my workout manager yet...LOL! I hope you get the core circuit in time! Glad you discovered it early so you could get it taken care of!

Hi! Last post for the night. We met some friends for dinner so just got home! Cendrine, I'll post the recipes for you this weekend...also, yes, that was one thing I noticed about some of the raw recipes...way more high calorie ingredients and sugary components than I want! So though some of them look awesome...they don't fit completely with the way I (we!) like to eat. (Another thing we agree on!) I signed up for greensmoothiegirl newsletter. I really want to order the blender...stay tuned...

Oh Kim, burrrrr.....I feel for YOU! I also ordered the step mat, 4 lb gloves and new weighted vest but didn't get to look at them yet. I'll do that tomorrow. Oh the drama! I had posted on that thread right when that happened and when I logged off, I was the last post Cathe responded to. Also, I'm with you, I'm tired! This being my first week of exercising hard again, I've been REALLY sleeping! I'm looking forward to a day off too! I'm glad you mentioned about the missing DVD - I realized I hadn't even verified what I had but ran and checked and think I have them all. So what plans do you have with the kids this weekend? I think it's so great about everyone at your house working out together! I'll have to challenge DH to some Wiifit games this weekend! ;)

And girls, Disc 3 is creeping up on me. When I got up from my chair from dinner...oh my goodness! I'm feeling it as the night wears on! But, I'm so excited to do Step Moves tomorrow!

Good Morning gals!

Well I am a sight right now! I am setting here in my long johns waiting to get dressed for work. Kim, I have to ask because I am so curious....How deep are your pipes and do yall have water towers? Ours are 2 ft in the ground and dh still worries about them...I can not imagine how you keep them from freezing in -40!

Well Disc 3 is done and in the words of Jo...SCHEEESCH! That is a hard one. I think I remember thinking that the first leg w/o of meso 1 was the hardest so I hope that is right. I did have a strong day today though. I think that is because TTOTM is coming and I always turn into Shera a few days before! For those of you that do not know that reference , she is the princess of power:D:p
Isn't it going to be weird to go to disc 4 next week. I bet we feel like we fly through this time doing the 3 month rotation!

I guess I missed the drama but from what yall are saying, I did not miss much. I don't have anything bad to say about Cathe's work outs and think if you don't like them , don't do them.

I did not get to preview step moves yesterday so I will have to today! We were really lazy yesterday and watched movies and just stayed in the house. I don't know how we would survive where you are Kim:eek:

I better go dry my hair and get some breakfast! Have a great DAY and try to stay WARM!

Rachel

Quick post - I did Step Moves! It was fun...I'M SO GLAD I PREVIEWED!!! I only rewinded a couple spots but still got through the workout fine. The bigger problem was my legs are CEMENT! LOL!:eek::confused::eek::p:D I actually struggled more with the knee-ups and trying to get some lift as my legs felt every little itty bit of gravitational pull today! Whoa I've got DOMS! Anyway, this workout is fun fun fun!

I got to run and get in the shower - BBL!

Rachel, sorry you have it so cold, wet hair in cold weather magnifies the cold so much! I hardly ever dry my hair, so when it is cold and I drink my cold smoothie for breakfast and have wet hair then the layers are coming on to warm up! LOL!
You definitely didn't miss anything on the thread, Rachel, and I'm glad you said what Shea or rather who she was, because I had no idea...LOL

Jo, I remember the doms from meso 1, it was the worst doms I ever had! Let us know how you do on the Wii with dh this weekend!

I am going to try out making raw ice cream this afternoon with the kids. I'm planning on making two kinds, a cinnamon one and a 'shrek' one ;) Guess what the Shrek Ice cream has in it! Since it's a recipe from greensmoothie girl, it of couse is spinach! LOL! Can't wait to try it!

In ds' science book we learned how chocolate is made and now we want to try to make it ourselves, with some healthy substitutes in it. I'll let you guys know how that one turns out when I get to it.

Oh if you make chocolate you are going to be my new Queen, Cendrine LOL
I did watch an Alton Brown one time where he used avocado for the a healthy fat substitute in ice cream. I never got around to trying it though. WHat an experimenter you are!

Well I am home for the weekend. The dogs were chomping at the bit to get in.:D They are going to be so sad when the cold snap is over. I kind of will too;) Even thought they are stinky it is fun to watch them trying there hardest to ignore the cat!
No big plans for the weekend ...Just trying to stay out of the cold. Tomorrow we do have to hit the town for a few things but since we do not need a lot we will wait till lunch or so.

Jo- I am with you on the DOMS...I did disc 3 this morning and am already feeling it so thanks for the heads up on the knee ups. Right after this I will be previewing it so I can sort of be ready.

Kim- Are you feeling this week of work outs? How was the 8:30 one? I hope you are staying warm. I am embarrassed to be complaining when it is sub zero temps where you are at. Never visit TX in the summer...You would die of heat stroke!

I forgot to tell yall that I have started a sort of picture journal. I am going to try to take pics of myself every work out day. I take one before I get started and one when I am done. Then one day when I have time I will go back and compare. If I continue I should be able to tell what workout I did that day and what kind of immediate pump I got. We will see any way!

I hope you all have a great Friday!

Rachel

The DOMS are the worst right now! (Were they this bad before???) Good luck Rachel!

Cendrine, CHOCOLATE??? Oh my goodness, I can't wait to hear how you do! Like Rachel said, what an experimenter you are! An inspiration for us all! (My dehydrator should be at my doorstep when I get home!)

Rachel, great idea on the picture journal! Yeah, that will be fun! I will be interested in your comparison results! Glad you're surviving the cold! It's raining here right now and in the mid 40's. I can't wait to hear how you like Step Moves! I know when I have that down, it will be a favorite. It's so fast paced too!

Kim, are you frozen? Hope you and family are okay and staying warm!

I will definitely do some stretching tomorrow; maybe even tonight. I need it! :D

My mistake...dehydrator is coming tomorrow! Boohoo! The good thing is I can go get the ingredients to make the onion bread so I'll be all set! :D

I'll be all set when mine comes too! Just got all the good stuff from the store and can't wait to start experimenting with that too!

I admire you doing the journal, Rachel,I would never stick with it. But it would be so fun to be able to compare, but it's too much bother for me...

Jo, sorry about the doms, I really do think they were that bad, of course I can't say because I'm not doing it right now, all I have to compare to it my first try and thas soooooore! I hope they recover faster for you than my muscles did for me!

I'm so glad that it's the weekend and tomorrow is a rest day!:D Today I did Step Moves and didn't stumble around too much. Jo, I also really liked this workout and I think I will love it once I know the moves. I did the pilates inspired abs instead of the yoga ones by accident, but will just switch with next week. Also got the groceries, laundry and my hair done so it was a fun fillled day.

The KPC/L&G dvd that I ordered last weekend to replace my VHS is the featured product this week:rolleyes: I could have used the 30% to get the firewalker bands.

Cendrine How are you doing listening to us all talk about the new workouts when you're not able to do them? I hope we're not irritating you! I was glad that Cathe stood up for herself to the poster on that Ask Cathe board. Making chocolate? I really want to know how that turns out! That sound much more like a recipe I would like to have than a greeen smoothie;) especially if you can make healthy chocolate!

Jo Well tomorrow dd has swimming lessons then piano lessons. DS has a hockey game. DH and I are hoping to go see the SHerlock Holmes movie in the evening. Sunday is supposed to be much warmer and we have no plans so I'm hoping for some skating on the river.

Rachael I have no idea how deep our pipes are:confused: I live in a fairly large city of 650,000 people so that is all done by the city people. But water main breaks under the roads in the winter do happen and they are quite the mess because of course the road freezes, I always feel sorry for the city workers out there working on them. Remember last March when my kids school closed down for a few days, that was from a water pipe bursting in the basement from the cold and it took out the whole electical and heating systems. The kids missed almost a week of school! We do not have water towers here, everything is underground.

The photo album idea sounds like a neat idea! Maybe you can share some of the pictures! You are right I would do terrible in the Texas heat!! We went on vacation to Barbados once and I felt just sick the whole time we were there. That's why I like Florida for our winter holiday, it's warm but not hot like other destinations. Maybe one day you need to visit me in January and I'll visit you in July!

I hope you're right that Disc 3 is the hardest leg workout in Mesocycle 1.

Oh, my hockey players are home, got to go say hi!

I forgot to mention:

The step mat: The step mat is really nice! Another good purchase!

Another winner! I highly recommend! This will work much better than my towel on the step! It's about 1/4" thick and it rolls up and has a strap that allows you to carry it (similar to a yoga mat). So you can easily carry it with you if you wanted to take it somewhere.

4 lb gloves: 2 lb each hand. These are also nice and have full hand coverage unlike the other weighted gloves. To be honest, I probably won't use these at the full 2 lbs as much as my other ones as 2 lbs on each hand may be a tad heavy for me (I have very small hands and wrists). With that said...I'll let you know...I could see me using the full weight for things like deadlifts rather than something like a chest fly where it may be more difficult to keep my wrists aligned. However, each glove has four half pound pouches so it will be nice to vary the weights. Also, I like that it's fully palm covered gloves as I wear my other open palm ones over my weight lifting gloves. Overall I think this is another good purchase!

Kim, let me know how you like Sherlock Holmes! I really want to see that movie!

Last note on the DOMS: are they so bad because we haven't done that workout for so long? I think not! I think they are so bad because we have perfected our form and working out to our full potential! LOL! Yeah, that's it! ;)

Morning Gals!

I am so glad I previewed step moves last night. No one was here so I really payed attention to her foot work and I think that is what led to having a great work out this morning! I normally do terrible the first time I do these fast pace step work outs because I am not paying attention to which foot goes where but I think I have found a way for me to preview and get the most out of it. Last night when I was watching it I just knew I would be rewinding a lot and like you ,Jo, I only had to rewind a couple of times. It is such a fun work out! I think like yall it is going to be a favorite of mine too!
I had not done the yoga abs in a long time so it was interesting to see how much better my levitation holds are. I could really lift myself and hold really steady! I could not extend my legs but I did tilt my lower half forward and felt that a little more. SO maybe one day I will get there!

Kim- How was Sherlock Holmes? I love Robert Downey! We went and seen Avatar over christmas and it was great too! There are a lot of movies that I want to see coming out.
I think maybe I should visit you in July and YOu visit me in January!!!:DI bet the temps there in July are perfect fall weather for me!:p

Jo-I am so glad the fitness purchases were not a bust! I am always a little nervous about ordering something like that off the internet ..but normally with Cathe's stuff you just can not go wrong! I am enduring the cold. But my house could use a good cleaning which it will not get until the dogs are back out. :p

Cendrine-Is it in the 70's there? I thought that is what I saw on the news! It would be nice weather for a picnic.
As far as the picture journal goes...The only reason why I stick with it is because the camera is set up in my work out room! I just have to make sure it is in there every day. The hardest part is taking off the sweat shirt before I am warmed up...Burrr

Ok well I am off to coax the dogs out. The sun is shining but iit is still below 20!

Rachel

Jo, I have DOMS in my hamstrings and inner thighs, didn't set in till this morning. Are you doing a stretch workout today??

I've lost 2 lbs on the 10 lb journey
icon14.gif

Glad to hear that you and the dogs are surviving the cold Rachael, I'm sure it won't last long.

Yay, Kim! I was going to ask you how your first week went weight loss wise! Nice work! I really have had a good week too, no cheating, and good, clean food. So we are on track! I just got another Athleta catalog in the mail and I may choose something from there rather than Luluemon, but lots of work is still needed first! LOL!

I felt the itch to try my had at making chocolate this morning after breakfast...
Now, please understand, I am not interested in making the super smooth kind because that would just take too much time and effort. But I was going to experiment with the ingredients minus the heating and cooling and time. So I took raw cocoa nibs and blended the heck out of them until they got pasty. Then I added my sweetener of choice, Agave. After that we added some milk powder and vanilla and last but not least, coconut oil, wich is solid at room temp so it is kind of like butter. Since I have extra virgin coconut oil, you can really taste the coconut in it! So I blended it all together. Now it's sitting in the fridge to harden, then we will roll little balls and roll it in dried coconut for a finish. I have to tell you, just from licking the spatula, it tastes delish already! I might experminent in the future by blending in some dried berries, like goji or something, even orange zest might be fun.
I'll let you know how the final prodcut turned out. Since I have no idea of proportions on the ingredients, it's just kind of what you get is what you get. So the consistency is probably going to be different each time, but the flavor is wonderful!

Kim, you are so sweet to be concerned about how I might feel with you all doing sts and me not being able to! I'm fine. If nothing else this injury has taught me to do a lot more listening to myself and my body rather than go with the plan. I tend to plan and see it through regardless of setbacks and hurdles. But being on this forced break has helped me put things in the right perspective. Realistically, I probably won't be doing Sts at all this time around because it would be too much shock on my body, I will have to build up gently and then I'll be ready when you guys are ready for the next round.

Jo, thanks for the review of all your new accessories! Very helpful!

Rachel, good job on your workout and getting it so well!

Yup, our temps are rather pleasant during the day. If I was a regular californian I would be walking around with flip flops and shorts, but I'm not, so I am happy to sit in the sun and get warm wearing my sweater! LOL!

Everyone else is acting like it's late spring....

Hi Everyone! Rest day today! I planned to stretch but have been on the go since the minute I woke up! My dehydrator just arrived so I'm off to the store to get some ingredients for my onion bread. Unfortunately, I can't make it until tomorrow as we leaving in a couple hours to meet some friends for the evening.

Congrats Kim on the 2 lbs! That must feel great! :D

Rachel, glad you liked Step Moves! You're my hero with the levitation! I'm still not even close to being able to do that!

Cendrine, can't wait to hear about the final product on the chocolate! Did your dehydrator come too?

I'll try and get back tonight! I'm so excited about my dehydrator!
