Strength training and cardio

I have been an exerciser for the majority of the past 16 years. Only recently, with the help of Cathe's videos, have I become a strength training junkie. It is nice to see muscle definition! I have been doing 30-45 minutes of cardio 6 days/week and alternating upper/lower body strength training 6 days/wk as well. I am having some issues with my feet. I absolutely LOVE step aeobics and all of the jumping, but it is taking a toll on my feet. My question is this, how many days/wk would I need to do cardio and strength training to see results, but give my feet a rest from some of the high impact aerobics? Would it be acceptable to do 3 days cardio and 3 days strength training (doing upper and lower body on the same day)? This may sound like a silly question but with the new STS workouts, after you complete the 12 weeks do you start over????

Alternating weights and cardio works for many people, myself included. I say try it and see how your body responds. You never know, you may improve even more.

The STS Forum may answer your second question.

Foot issues

You didn't mention what your foot issues are, but when my feet started hurting from doing step aerobics and high impact floor aerobics I changed my shoes. I now where the Ryka N-Gage Studio mid. No more sore feet! I ordered them from Piperlime. You don't have to pay for shipping, even if you need to send them back.

That was the first thing I did, but I bought Nike's. I think it got worse. My mom has nerve problems in her feet. I think I inherited her problems. If I do too much jumping my toes tingle slightly. I bought an elliptical and can't do it anymore because my toes go numb. I will try the RYKA's. Is that what Cathe wears??

I found that lacing my shoes differently helped with my foot issues. I like my shoes tied tight, but then it would be too tight over the mid part and my toes would go numb eventually. Could this be your problem? If so, I can dig up the url for how to tie your shoes for different problems that I found.

I also changed my shoes to Ryka! Good enough for Cathe...good enough for me...and sure enough...I love them. My feet don't bug me...
