Strained calf muscle/plantar fascitis

Good Morning,
I need some input from all the fitness experts out there.
Last year I suffered with a severe case of plantar fascitis. After getting cortisone shots and custom made orthotics I have made a full recovery and can step with the best of you. My feet have felt great for 9 months or so.
Anyway, on Tuesday I did Gym Style legs and really felt the burn in my right calf. I did the usual stretches and by later that night my heel hurt so bad I could hardly walk. UGH!! It still throbs and burns like it did before my treatment for PF.
Has anyone else ever experienced this? Do you think the PF pain in my heel is related to my extremely sore calf muscle? I continue to stretch and ice my foot. I even started wearing that darn boot again at night. I fear I may be sidelined during the roadtrip if it doesn't
get better. Any advise you can give would be greatly appreciated:)

Carolyn

I'm no doctor, but heel pain could be a strained Achilles tendon, which can feel like PF. Or you may have had a PF setback. If it does not improve, you may have to make another trip to the doc. I'm really sorry. :(

Plantar fasciitis (PF)& Achilles tentonitis (AT) are definitely connected. I had PF & AT last year. Does it hurt worse in the morning?? Usually my PF would be worse when I would get up & step out of bed (felt like walking on glass!). As the tendon loosens up & gets warm, it will feel better. I'd say to try to find your *trigger* points in your calf, is there a certain spot that is really tender? Can you get a massage? If not, I'd go to the Dr. or podiatrist again & see what they say. I still have probs w/ AT & PF if I'm not careful and make sure I'm stretching and wearing shoes ALL of the time. Going barefoot is one of the worst things to do according to my podiatrist!! HTH!

Have you tried the new Croc flip flops or Mary Jane styles?? I haven't yet, but saw them at Dick's last night & they look cute!! I love my Born sandals, very comfy!

My husband"s PF was cured with Crocs. I have a pair on now as I'm typing. He had the boot and many other things, but Crocs cured it. We both wear them constantly! Good Luck!

Unfortunately, I can't wear flip flops. :( But I did indeed see the many styles of Crocs at Dick's when I was buying a pair for my younger DD. It was kind of dizzying, really.
