Step heights on LL?

I'm confused about step heights for leg presses back lunges on LL?

For the one leg back lunges I use by Reebok step at 10inches, For leg presses I've been using my 14 inch or 12 inch Firm Fanny Lifter.
Are these the correct heights for somone at 5'2? I really can't tell how high Cathe's heights are from the video and since you can't buy those special "mini steps" I feel confused.

Thanks.

An easy way to tell what Cathe's step height is that each riser is 2" and the actual step is 4" (On the original Step at least and they do look very similar). So, if she has 5 risers and the mini-step, (5x2+4=14) that would 14". Just pause your VCR and count the risers and go from there.

I hope this helps.

another good way to check

It's sometimes hard to judge by others, even those at the same height because our legs can be of different measurements. The best way to check what is best for you is to make sure your thigh stays parallel to the floor. Unless they have changed things, I think you are not allowed to have your knee higher than your hip so that your thigh angles up towards your knee.

Your step heights sound about right as far as I can tell. An important question to consider, however, is how you feel when working at these heights; if possible, you might want to check your form in a mirror as you do these exercises. The main thing, as Cathe often reminds, is to make sure that your front knee doesn't go past the toe on both the moves.

I'm 5'3" and I use the Firm's 10-inch step for the back leg lunges and a 14-inch Firm step for the leg presses. These heights feel comfortable yet challenging for me. Good luck.:)
