Step choreography

Are there any other step choreography klutzes out there? I don't have any trouble catching on to kickboxing or even hi-lo, but I find myself getting VERY frustrated with step choreography. Anyone have any suggestions for learning new routines without becoming homicidal? BTW, I just got the Express series--mainly for the weight work--but would really like to use the cardio portions too!

stepping on the floor

This may be a ridiculous suggestion, but you may want to try doing a step routine without the step to help you learn the choreography. I don't personally have trouble with choreoraphy, but I did Stepworks last week on the floor to keep the intensity down and to protect my knees. Maybe it's the combination of such high intensity (not impact, but intensity) along with choreography that is keeping you from getting the steps. It's HARD to concentrate on learing the steps when you may be gasping (and wheezing and straining and hyperventilating!!!!) for breath! Just kidding, but really it might help to have the step taken away so your focus is entirely on the choreography.
Hope that helps--take it or leave it

I have to laugh, I was about to suggest the VERY SAME THING!! I catch on easily to complex hi-lo but complex step floors me (pun intended, hehe!). I think the problem with step is that if you you misstep you can easily sprain an ankle! So if you remove that factor from the equation by just doing the step routine on the floor, then you can learn the steps almost as if it were hi-lo, then add the step back in. Put your step on the floor and make a masking tape outline of it to keep yourself centered, remove the step, and just do it! (well, it might not be a good idea if you have nice hardwood floors, but it works well on carpet). Have fun!
