Starting My New Job Today!

Today's the day! I'm starting training for my new job this afternoon. I'm very excited and looking forward to the new challenge. I'm very blessed that I'll be working from home. I work from 3:30 to 7:30 PM today and tomorrow, will be off Wednesday, work a full day Thursday 3:30-11:30 PM and off Friday and Saturday. Then I'll work Sunday-Thursday full time for the new few weeks, then I think I begin a new training phase. Thanks to everyone who showed their support to me last month by bidding on my ebay auctions and posting kind words. :D

Amanda:

congrats on having a new venture. How's it going?

My husband has worked from home for about 7 years. It does have pitfalls however. Some to look out for (not saying that these are necessarily applicable to you):

a) I see way too much of him

b) he opens the fridge door way too often

c) work time bleeds into home and family time because there's no travel to separate the two. It can be easy to lose your free time in this way.

d) solitude: he lacks socialization

So, if you can beware these pitfalls, you can keep your free time free, keep your relationships from over-familiarity and keep your waistline!!!!

Good luck with your new venture,

Clare

Hey everyone!

I've had my first two days of training, I'm off tomorrow, then Thursday is "tech day" aka equipment set-up, off Friday and next week kicks off full day training schedule. WOrking at home is really nice. I'm liking not having to get up as early, I can workout after breakfast when I'm more awake and alert and don't feel guilty anymore about "not having a job". I'm kinda on information overload right now and hope I can digest everything and be able to do what's expected of me. I'm hoping and praying this will workout and I'll be able to learn everything and do the job expected of me. Because I'm call center, I shut the office door and my husband knows not to come in while I'm working. I have my phone with me, but it is silenced, and I told him if he has to tell me anything important while I'm on the job, to send me a text. I can't leave, but at least he can reach me without any disturbances. This company has a zero tolerance policy for background noise and when we were doing our introductions yesterday, we were grated microphone privileges and the first girl up, you could hear a loud parrot in the background! And, of course, I heard kids with a few others too. Looking forward to more!

CONGRATS! A few words of advice (not sure what your job is from home)...

1: Dress "to the shoes" so you are in "work mode".

2: Set a schedule (if you can). Work is work, dishes are for "off the clock".

3: Schedule a break.

4: DO NOT work in Jammie's! -go back to #1-
