Cathe,

Could you please let us know which stability ball and medicine ball you will be using, I know I would like to get it in advance and do not want to purchase one that will not work properly. I have never used either of these so I am not sure if there is a big difference. I am so looking forward to these new videos as I will be having a baby within the next 5 weeks or so. They will be coming at the perfect time to get back in shape!!

Thanks,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
I too am eager to find out what kind of balls Cathe will be using.

A medicine ball is the smaller kind you hold in your hands. They're often made of rubber and really popular for sports training. It's basically just a round weight. I think she said they'd be using 8 pound balls.

A stability ball is the big inflatable kind you can sit on. It's good for doing abs and back especially (more comfortable and flexible than the floor or a bench) but people find ways of exercising pretty much any and every muscle group with them.

Congrats on your baby!! Mine is due in April :7 so I don't suppose I'll be trying IMax II or Bootcamp till May or June! Hopefully I'll be able to use most of the other stuff right away!

Thanks for the answer! I guess the medicine ball will be easy to find, but the stability ball? is it the same as a balance ball? that is all I could find. How big should it be? Any guidance that Cathe or anyone could give would be helpful!
Congradulations on your baby to be to FoolofaTook! April will be here before you know it!

Hi Liza,

There is a similar question a couple of pages back on the ASK CATHE section, about medicine balls. Cathe has said she will be using an 8lb rubber medicine ball (or 6-8lb will do). There are also a couple of queries about a stability ball as well.

Hope this was of some use.

Anna

Best Wishes for the birth of your baby, you must be very excited ! :-jumpy

Liza,
You can usually find stability balls at Walmart or Target. They are 55", which, according to most guidelines, are fine for exercisers from about 5'2" to 5'6", though some guidelines suggest 65"balls for 5'5"and above. I personally bought a Paul Check dura ball pro because it is very safe, and even if punctured will deflate slowly (I got mine from fitter1.com, but I've seen other slow deflate balls at other online sources). Most on-line companies that sell balls also post a sizing chart (fwonline.com is another source I can think of right off hand).
