SS/PP---What Type of Workouts Would you Consider These?

Would you consider the superset/push-pull workouts to be more endurance based (higher reps) or strength based (slower counts, higher weight)?

The thread on "most under rated Cathe video" got me wondering about this DVD and has peaked my interest about purchasing it.

Thanks in advance!

I agree with Marcy, particularly when you consider the 101 options offered by the pre-mixes. Those are definitely endurance.

Yes, SS/PP are both total body endurance workouts and this is truly an underrated DVD, it has SO many killer options.

HOWEVER, PP is structured in such a way that you can heavy up the weights quite a bit. For example, "one muscle group rests while the opposing one works." Especially if you are just getting into heavier weight training, PP is a great introduction. You can also use some of the premixes to split this workout up and make it even more of a strength workout.

Just another reason why they're so great.

These two are very fun and I think you'll love them!

Yes, on Push Pull you can heavy up - she doesn't rip through the 12-16 reps of each exercise... most are 2-2 counts and I've gone pretty heavy with the upper body. The 2x premix is great for a wonderful upper body workout!

On Push Pull, I often can go heavier than on say, Power Hour. Cathe doesn't do too many reps or sets on this one and she goes pretty quickly from one body part to the next and on. In about 45 minutes or less, she moves this one along pretty quickly, but she takes her time with each exercise...that's why you can go heavier. And knowing it is a shortie makes it easier to manage or cope with the heavier weights.

This workout is underrated...it's nice and short for those time-crunched days, moves along quickly from one exercise to the next so it does get the heart rate up and mostly keeps it up nicely, but because each exercise is done on a slower pace, you can still go heavy...Cathe did an excellent job with this total body workout!

I agree with Lydia. These workouts are underrated, and excellent total body workouts. I love the premixe on PP. I'll often use them when I have a week of upper/lower body split in place of my beloved Pyramids...since I can't do them ALL the time! Supersets is a good total body workout. I recommend getting the DVD. Beth
