Spring into Summer check-in - 5/25

Hello ladies,

Today is leg day, that's all I know. I still have to go through my DVDs to see what I feel like doing. Definitely no more LL. No PS-Legs or PLB, as I did enough squatting and lunging last week. Floor work would be good...

Finally slept last night, and so much better too. Hope this goes on.

Well hello there,
I am hurting today. Unfortunately not from my workouts, but from lack of sleep. The last 2 nights in a row, my husband has been raising and dropping leg ~ and it keeps waking me up!! I think I had about 3 hours of sleep last night. So, I just laid there until 4:30 and got up, like usual.
This morning was Chest, PS and SH, followed by ME abs twice.
I felt fine until about 10 minutes ago. I have a meeting this afternoon ~ and they want to order pizza. I jokingly said, I'll have what I brought since I'm going on vacation ... moment on the lips, lifetime on the hips.... Everyone I work with is very overweight and no one eats healthy at all.
Thank you everyone for wishing my dog well yesterday. He was fine. It was a 20 minute procedure to clean his ears out. I hope now that we're "starting fresh" the medication will work and he won't get any more ear infections.

HI Girlies,
What is it about after lunch??? I get so LAZY!!!! I have been working since 7:30.I got up at 6 and went for a 20 min run (BFL run).Normally working out in the morning makes me so energetic but I could do with a nap right about now.:eek:
I am also going to do another workout tonight.I am taking my daugther to see Shrek 2 at 7 so hopefully I can start working out by 9.But I have to try and resist the popcorn at the movies.Shouldn't be to bad b/c I will have my dinner before I go.
Susan-I can only imagine the looks you must have gotten when you said you didn't want any pizza.I don't know what it is about overweight people but they look at fit people like we are doing something wrong or we are to "into" ourselves.What about if we looked at them with our noses screwed up everytime they did something we didn't do? I have comments made about how "you make me sick"..."you don't eat very much do you?". Well...I think I eat a fair bit but compared to overweight people who don't have any medical problems I probably don't eat very much.I can't say anything at work either.I have learned from the past to just say "No I don't really like pizza" or "no Im not really hungry" instead of getting the LOOK.BUT I don't turn pizza or anything down very often:)

Well ladies, yesteday was a total bust! I did nothing, but I did do some yard work. That counts, right?
So, this morning I did IMAX 2, before my son woke up. Then I did some Abs from ab hits. This afternoon I may do some circuit training if I'm feeling energetic. But I'm not right now, so we'll see how it goes. I'm feeling a little flabby today, can you tell?
I suppose that i should get going, sorry that this is so short. I hope that you all have a good day.
HI to everyone! No, I ahven't remembered everyones names just yet, I know that there is Susan, Pinky, Lori, and then there are others that escape me right now. I'm sorry, I'm obviously not good at names. But I will eventually get it down, that much I know that I can do!

So I've gone from minor DOMS to major DOMS!!!

As yesterday progressed I felt my legs get a bit sore from doing PLB. But it felt good. This morning IMAX was scheduled into the rotation (May 2003) so I decided, why not? Well, my legs started FLAMING in three of the intervals (the plyo jacks, the power lunges, and the last one with the airborne jacks and tuck jumps). So I had to modify those down about half way through. Other than that, it went really well. I think I could have done all the power moves had my legs not been sore from yesterday's workout. Anyway, my legs are REALLY feeling it right now and I can only imagine it will get worse! So I definitely need to add in some yoga or some stretching later today to try and work this out.

Glad to hear you got some sleep Pinky!

Good news about the dog, Susan. I know I'm a big worrier when my fur babies have to have any medical procedures done too.

Kathy, don't worry about remembering everyone's name. We've got quite a big group going and sometimes it's tough to remember everyone.

HMMMM...I just tried posting and it didn't go through...I hope this isn't a repeat!

Yesterday was a bust for me, too, Kathy. I think I was still recovering from vacation and needed good nutrition and a good night's sleep, which I got so I feel much better today. I don't know what I'll do today, but something...my goal is Spinervals, so we'll see. It's been fun to just be "naturally" active (walking, playing, body surfing) but it's time to be "Cathe" active!

p.s. I pick all the cheese off my pizza or order it cheese-less, and people think I'm nuts, but I just don't like cheese!
 
Did my leg work finally, but decided to mix in cardio with it. I only had one cardio session last week and want to have more than that this week. So I did CTX-Power Circuits without the hi/lo and KPC cardio conditioning premix. Kept the aerobics low impact but kicked high.

Lori, have fun at the movies. You and your daughter are gonna love Shrek 2. You're right about those funny looks. Last Mother's Day we went to a humongous Japanese buffet with our friends whom I noticed kept on stealing glances at what I brought back to the table. I saw those brief flashes of shock in their eyes when I came back with pastries -- TWICE.:7 I've learned to ignore it. Unless someone says something malicious or insulting in my face, I just shrug it off. Can't waste my energies on tiny things like this, especially from people I know well and who know me well.

Kathy, yard work DOES count. Raking, mulching, pulling weeds, pushing that wheelbarrow around, lifting bags of potting soil... I don't think you realize how much energy you're really exerting. Don't sell yourself short. You're doing very well.:)

Sabine, maybe it's time to see a doctor about your legs? I was thinking that a pulled quad would heal after a week's rest, but if it's still bothering you now, I'd have it looked at. When my doctor told me I had overuse injuries, I went back to my past logs and saw that I was doing PLB one day then IMAX 2 the next, or vice versa, A LOT. I really hope you feel better. I KNOW how frustrating it is to not be able to push yourself as hard as you'd like when you have all the time and energy to do so. I'm sending healing vibes your way.

And to you too, Lisa, and Michael, if you're there.

Cindee and Susan, all this talk about pizza makes me want to get some. I like the frozen California brand, the garlic and Thai flavors. Hmmmm...:9

HI Pinky,

Actually, the quad feels just fine. When I did PLB yesterday I had had almost a week off from any lower body work so I was mildly sore. It was my mistake to decide to do IMAX when my legs were already sore. All those power moves (especially the 3 intervals I mentioned in my earlier post) really made the legs in general burn. So the left quad didn't bother me, just my quads in general were fried!

I am pushing myself a bit harder than usual to get into peak condition for my Hawaii trip in two weeks. I'll definitely be relaxing during the vacation and when I get back will be not pushing quite as hard as I currently am.

Thanks for being so caring and expressing your concern. Really, I'm fine and feeling fabulous (even with fried quads, hams, and glutes!)
 
I'm glad to hear that, Sabine.:) Leg soreness and/or pain can be harder to deal with than one can imagine since our legs carry our bodies and do a lot of work during the day. Take care... I KNOW you'll look great in a bikini. Didn't your sister's husband describe you to his friends as "HOT"?:)

Hey everyone,

Just saying hi. Pinky, Michael's headache today was 0-1 on a scale of 10. I think we're almost there with him (I hope!). I'm doing better, but if I do much more than sit on the couch, I really feel my limitations. I'm staying home again tomorrow. Pinky, I'm glad that you got some sleep last night.

I try to eat well, but I do eat pizza and other things I like. I just don't pig out on them.

Ironically, we had pizza for dinner tonight! But I had egg whites and toast since my tummy was a little upset from the Spinervals workout DH and I did. It felt good to work so hard. Tomorrow will be upper body with HIIT.

Side note...I looked at pictures of myself from last year when we went to Mexico compared with this year and all I can say is HIIT works! I look much leaner all over. I'm feeling kinda pudgy from vacation food, but you can bet I'll be throwing in HIIT cuz there are definate results!

Lisa, glad Michael is felling well today; and let your body do the work it needs to do to heal...if it could do more it would I'm sure! I know you know all of this, but I hope it's a bit encouraging.

Vilma, I just signed on to start the check in.
I just received my email notification from Cathe dot com regarding the new DVD's being sent!! Yeah! Figures, I'm going out of town Thurs-Monday night, then off again Tuesday morning until Saturday.
I'll check in to read all the reviews.

Well, this morning was Back; PS, SH, PH, then ME-abs and BC cardio.
I love, love, love to end a workout with BC Cardio. Its only about 10 minutes but what an impact to finish.
Tomorrow I will double up with Bis/Tris and maybe shoulders, since I'm going away.

Have any of you purchased the P90X series? I was just wondering what you thought of it. I only workout with Cathe.

I'm at work today, so I can check back later ~ it's easy when I sit at my desk allllll day.
