Spin Shoes

Anyone have any good leads on spin shoes? For those that have them, what kind/brand/style do you have and where did you purchase them?

Thanks!

call your LBS and see if they have some spin shoes you can try. or if they don't, you could try regular cycling shoes with SPD cleats. they should be able to show you how to properly clip in & out and would probably have a bike on a trainer that you could try/practice on.

I got mine from Zappos. They have several styles, price points and reviews. They're Shimano brand.

Very good advice. Is there a difference in shoes if your intent is to use them only for spinning vs. road biking?

yes - you don't need to get as expensive or fancy. Just a good middle of the road pair will be perfectly fine for spinning. Some of the shoes can get more "technical" and expensive - if you're doing a ton of riding, the type of terrain, are you doing any walking in them as well, etc. For just spinning, just a reasonable pair of shoes will do you - in the catalog descriptions they'll even indicate "good for spinning."

thanks, Elsie. i don't think there would be much difference, although most people I know who road bike, including myself, do not use SPD cleats for our road bikes. when i take spin classes at the gym i use my mtn bike shoes which have SPD cleats.

you can get a road type shoe with SPD cleats, though. i think you will be glad you took the time to do this. good luck!
