Sorry

Shari, I haven't left my car running yet but I do leave the car door open quite often. The first time I came out of the grocery store and wondered who the heck had gotten into my car! As Leslie said you have to see the humor in this stuff and not give a thought to the people who probably think I am an, what was Clare's word, eejit?

Now that I have made you laugh at the things I have done and at my hubby I have something so hilarious to make you laugh. My 12 year old son loves snakes and I hate them things, well not hate but don't particularly like them in the house. My 14 year old daughter screams at anything that crawls or slithers LOL. One day my son decided to sneak a garder snake into the house and it got loose and he thought if he sucked it up in the vaccum it won't be noticed, Till one day I went to vaccum and my daughter was so kind to tell me what he had done. so I took the vaccum outside and to my horror the snake was not in it LOL it got loose in the house and we couldn't find it. My kids were begging me to set up the pool so I said ok and and my daughter went to our storage room to look for a piece that was missing and the next thing I knew she came out white as a ghost screaming, "snake, I saw the snake!" so me being scared of them things went to get my neighbor and just as we were coming back my 14 year old was holding it by the end arms length away and threw that thing, I nearly fell on the ground laughing!!

Well, I haven't left the door open--yet. That's probably next on my list :) I thought my mother was going to have me committed over the car thing, but my dad overheard us talking and chuckled and said, "Yeah, I did that once." Then he told us about my grandpa doing the exact same thing. I guess it runs in the family.

I'm just glad to hear so many other people telling similar stories. I truly thought I'd lost it. And I felt terribly guilty over leaving my toddler at pre-school (with a great deal of assistance from my guilt-inflicting mother) and then again at kindergarten. Looking back, though, it seems entirely possible that it might have had something to do with the fact that, at the time, I hadn't had more than 3 hours a day sleep in something like 5 or 6 years. Maybe it comes from just trying to do too much, ya know??? I guess that's why we congregate here. We're all SuperWomen! (Superhero music plays in the background) And this is our SuperWomen gathering place, with SuperCathe in the lead kicking all out butts.

No apologies needed or expected!! I don't know what I'd do without the forums!!! Speaking of laundry, I have a similar story. When I was living in an apartment complex and was still having to save quarters to use for the washer and dryer, I realized after having done and PAID for 6 loads of wash that I hadnt put detergent in ANY of the washers! Well I did what any apartment dweller would do...I used the rest of my quarters to dry them and figured they had to be cleaner than before!

Glad things are looking up!

Shari, I figured my "problem" out a few years back and it's that I feel compelled to do everything at a full speed. You get more done that way, right? Not only that but while I am doing what I am doing, I am thinking about everything else I should be doing and tht makes me accelerate my pace even more. So if I occasionally fall down the stairs or leave my car door open, well, you'd expect that, wouldn't you? I have tried to change, to incorporate more Zen into my day, but it so goes against my nature, why fight it? I am the twelth of thirteen children and the only one born at home. We've always thought that was because my mother, that patient lady, is a waiter, but now I have come to the conclusion it's because I wanted to get out and get my life started! And of course, two of my three children are soooo slooooow, but that's part of the devine plan. I am forced to slow down at times or risk losing a child at the supermarket or making one of them have one arm that's longer than the other from dragging them along!

Stacey, when I think of all the times I have stood in front of the washer trying to remember if I'd added detergent and added it twice because I wasn't sure, I am sure I could get away with not using it. There's gotta be enought residue in those clothes to get them squeaky clean! I probably use too much anyway, since more is better!
