our paychecks hit the bank this morning and it was about 200 less normal lately. apparently my job REFUSED to let employees use their sick time for the snow days we had and i think at dh's job shorted him his hours again(wouldn't be a first). mortgage was due today so that took half of it and trying to figure out electric bill and money for the next two weeks(i hate bi weekly pay!!). i wanted to jump on this pre order special. i sure hope its still in my budget after the end of the month. i may not get the whole deal but i still want in on this action.

but why its OUR sick time its not like we asked to be out of work. i get so tired of the kitchen being the bottom of the barrell(runned by different ppl). teachers and CUSTODIANS get some sort of compensation for snow days why can't we. its bad enough i have to work this damn job b/c nothing else is out their for me in these tough times now you are going to short us. i have a lot of sick time i rarely call out or take personal days so what is wrong with using my built up time on snow days.

don't even get me started on dh's job. he is going to get an earful b/c while its their job to make sure all time has gone through he will forget to put in personal time when he leaves early too which probably this time is what happened.

thanks for letting me vent!! i am sure those who want to pre-order and can't can understand!

I feel for ya Kassia! My DH has been out of work for almost a month now so I'd feel super guilty pre-ordering even though it means missing out on a great deal!:(

I can also sympathize with your plight at work. I work part time at a gym in the babysitting room. We are basically treated like bottom-feeders. We get paid crap, get treated like crap but yet we really do one of the most important jobs in the friggin' place when you think about it!!!! I'll bet half the SAHM's that are members there would NEVER get to work out if it wasn't for the babysitting area taking care of their kids for them!!! In addition, just the fact that we are responsible for the safety of these babies/kids should mean more then it does to the higher ups at the gym! ACK!

Wendy, I want to personally thank you for what you do. You're right. My daughter is now 10, but when she was about 1 my husband had to live somewhere else for a little while (not due to marriage problems) and that's when I started going to the local rec center. The babysitting there was actually free at the time, which is the only thing that let me go and use that service. They did a great job with her, she had a good time there, and it let me go and take classes or use the equipment which was wonderful stress management and actually started me on my path to a healthier lifestyle. You and your co-workers are EXTREMELY important and even if they don't appreciate you, I do :)

I'm sorry, that really does stink, and they should at least have been clear about policies up front, and not surprise employees with a smaller pay check.

Oh my gosh, you are so sweet! Thank you! :):):)

wendy-ppl like you are the bomb. we still use child watch periodically at the ymca and they are great. i hope your dh can find something soon, its so unfair to the working ppl out there right now. i feel lucky but cautious b/c anything can go at anytime.

dela-that is how school nutrition rolls so to speak LOL. i know some cuts are necessary but ppl gotta live too and we take A LOT of crap working in the kitchen we should at least be able to enjoy the money. its why i still work to save up for these little extras. hoping to at least still take part in the fun though even if its not at the same discount,b/c i am sure its going to be a great deal compared to full price.

thanks guys for listening :D

kassia, I'm really sorry to hear this. Is there anyone who could lend you the bucks until your DH's pay gets straightened out?

Wendy! Hugs to you too. I didn't know your DH was laid off...

I sure hate this economy.

i think of everybody in the family we are doing the best . he was short in his check nearly 10 hours so that is a bit of an ouchie we can make the bills at least so we can be thankful for that right now. i will still jump on the pre order though. i have a b-day coming up so i can always say "early" b-day present that will be belated LOL.

ETA:dh says although i may not be able to pre-order by the 31st i can pre-order it when he does bar tending next week at his second job. he makes enough on the weekends to pre order 2-3 sets. he says its a shoe in for sure that he will be bartending and its okay if he flirts a little bit to make extra tips LOL. anything for cathe!!!

I can't buy either right now. :(

We're in the process of buying our first house and every cent is accounted for.

that's why STS was out of our reach.we bought our first in august. its been pretty good for us. warranties were on everything b/c everything was brand new. we also took advantage of the $7500 first time home buyer credit which helped us pay off the car and credit cards(and car insurance for the year) we have the credit you have to pay back so much every year but i believe when you buy a house now its $8000 you can for you new home(file next tax season) and i don't think this one you have to pay back so be sure to ask your mortgage company so you can take advantage b/c it was a great help for us!. once we paid all our extra debt off we wound up joining the YMCA for $70 a month for the whole family.

good luck on your new home. and i hope once the set it out you can at least trade or maybe use that new tax credit to get it :D
