SNM: Workout Blender Problems on SJP & L&G???

Wendy G.

Cathlete
I just received my DVDs today and they are absolutely incredible! Everything seems to work great except for when I try to use the workout blender for Step, Jump and Pump and Legs and Glutes. After I make my selections and press "Start" the DVD just goes to the blue "Sony" screen that I always get when I turn the player on and doesn't play anything. I thought it was kind of interesting because both of these workout menus are on the right hand side of the screen and I thought it was some strange coincidence. I expected the same problem with the Supersets/Push Pull DVD, but both workout blenders on those programs worked fine. I tried the workout blender on "Step Blast" and "Kick, Punch and Crunch" and they are fine as well.

Am I missing something? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks for your help!

I would suggest trying the disc on another player to see what happens. You will sometimes find a particular player has problems with some element while nearly all other players do not. I would also suggest cleaning the disc really well.

We tested all the DVDs on 5 different DVD Player brands as we were developing them. As an example of what can happen...we had one premix from the supersets DVD that would not work on a Sonic Blue DVD player, but would work on every other player we tried. We spent weeks checking the "code" and burning test disc trying to solve the problem. In the end we determined that the problem had to be with the player, but we have no idea why. This may be true in your case, or it could be a dirty disc or a defective disc. Try to test on anther player and this will help us to determine the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will clean the discs and take them to work on Monday to try on a DVD player there. I'll let you know if it works or not.

I also had this exact same problem only on the SJP & L&G Workout Blender. I have a Sony 5-disc changer NC615. Someone else posted that this is happening on their Sony player also... Hopefully others that don't have a Sony will chime in and let us know if it works or doesn't for them.

Oops! I'm totally lying... my problem with the Workout Blender is with Step, Jump and Pump only. My Legs & Glutes works fine! Sorry...but it's the exact same problem. I suspect it's our players. x(

That is the one I am having problem with too. Also with Step Blast, and Kick punch & Crunch. To tell you the truth I don't think that I will ever use the blender because you can only use it in the video and with all the premixes their are so many workouts. Maybe it is the Sony who knows. I don't have 2 dvd player except my kids playstation.

I have a Sony DVD player and when I try a Blender workout with Step, Jump, and Pump, it goes to the blue Sony screen as well. All of my other ‘blenders’ work. I think I will try it on my friend’s Mintek DVD player and see what happens.

I use a Panasonic 5 Disc DVD player for my workouts and the blender works fine on SPJ. I put the disc in our Sony and the blue screen comes up as well. I then tried the disc on our Aiwa and it works fine. Strange how it will only be affected on one certain player. I didn't check L&G as it works fine on my Panasonic. :(

I've got the same problem with the workout blender SJP; I also have a Sony DVD player which I use to workout with. I tried the blender on my dd's philips dvd vhs combo player in her room, it was just purchased this past summer and the SJP blender worked! So I guess it's my particular Sony player which is a few years older.

My DVD's are all doing fine on my Sony DVP-S560D and Sony Playstation. All blenders are working great. Are your DVD players older? We got ours about 2.5 years ago, so I don't know if that helps. Maybe you can contact Sony and see if they have any suggestions.
Good luck,
Becky

Well, the SJ&P blender works on the DVD player at work, but not the Legs and Glutes blender. I forgot to look at the DVD brand name, darn it!

I guess I'm not too concerned because I will probably not use the workout blender because there are so many wonderful premixes!

Hopefully it's not a big problem for others.:) :)

It isn't a problem for me either because of the premixes. I have a new dvd player that is about a few monthes old which is a DVPNC665PB sony. I really think it has to do with the dvd players after hearing all of peoples responses. I wonder if their is something on the dvd player that we can change or program, ahh it really dosen't bother me.

Help! I emailed SNM about my SJ&P blender problem (I also get the Step Blast Mix and Match screen whenever I go to the main menu on this disc, kind of weird) and they suggested I try it on another player. So I tried it on my friend's Mintek brand and sure enough, the main menu came up and the SJ&P blender worked fine! This is great except - I don't use her DVD player for my workouts, I use my Sony. I know it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I was looking forward to the SJ&P blender the most because I wanted to do a hi/lo, squats, hi/lo, lunges, hi/lo, squats mix. I don't want to bug SNM again, but I am a little disappointed. Should I just suck it up and learn how to program my DVD player? Thanks.

I guess I would just email SNM customer service and tell them that you're disappointed that the blender won't work on your player and see what they say. It sounds as if they knew that the blender might not work on some players.

They seem to always respond promptly and try to resolve problems to the best of their ability!

Good luck! :)

Jillibean,

You wouldn't believe the problem I had with my DVD's - I have a Sharp VCR/ DVD TV Combo - I have had it for a year - I love it for I can use VHS or DVD's - but when I got my DVD's - the player wouldn't play any of my DVD's - it would show the menu, then when I would enter what I wanted the screen would go back to the screen saver!

I was so exasperated - I thought it was the DVD's - but I tried it on another Combo TV (a Toshiba) and lo and behold it worked perfectly - thank God I had another Combo for my children - the only thing is it is smaller, but I just switched the TV's with them. They love it they got a bigger TV.

So, this DVD problem definitely has to do with certain players - but what is one to do if it doesn't work on theirs? It just goes to show you how high tech Cathe's new DVD's are - she needs to sell her own DVD players just to play her DVD's! Ha - ha!

Hi Cheryl! I am so sorry to hear that! I just emailed SNM again and here is their response:

"It is just a driver or firmware issue on your player. You can sometimes get upgrades from the manufactuer, but often you need to send the player back. Players are so cheap nowdays it is just not worth the hassle to have them fixed."

I don't want to part with my player, so I guess I'll just forgo the blender option on this disc. I am just happy that they all play and that Cathe made such great workouts (as always!)
