Snake in exercise room!!!

Agh! There is a little building beside my house that I use as an exercise room; it's not the most well-built thing in the world--lots of things unfinished, etc. I went in to workout this afternoon, and when I was switching weights, I look over my shoulder and there was a snake sitting in the floor not three feet from where my bench was. I ran to the house for my husband, and the snake crawled back into the back room. Neither of us were going in after it, so we left the front door open to see if it would crawl out on its own. After about 15 minutes, it did. Turns out, it was a milk snake and was harmless-- but I don't think I'll be going back inside there for awhile. . .

Yikes!

For a minute there, I thought Jes had posted this.}( :p :7

Good luck. I love all sorts of animals but I would have majorly freaked out too, had that happened to me.

Marla:eek:

I'm with Marla...thought it might be Jes!! Yuk...I walked out of my house one day last week...and a 4 foot gopher snake was about a foot from my porch! Geeze...the problem where I live is Gopher snakes resemble Rattlesnakes so I am happy to know the difference so I didn't have to kill it...:)...Carole

What's with all of the snakes today!? When I was driving to work this morning I saw a big snake on the road, it's bottom third had been run over and it was writhing like crazy. It creeped me out completely! I never thought I could feel sorry for a snake, but I did. Now a snake in my workout room that's a different story, I feel for you L, Yikes indeed!!!

Take Care
Laurie:)

I would of freaked too! I don't like snakes at all. I don't want to kill them, but I don't want them any where near me. One time as a teen, a drove up in my driveway, was heading into the front door. I saw a big black snake coiled up on my front doorstep. I turned around, got back into my car, and said see ya later!!

Oh, me too! They sometimes haunt me for years. I have no idea why they affect me so much, but they just break my heart.

I'm with Wendy.... I don't like snakes but I can take them a whole lot better than spiders. Spiders totally freak me out. I am terrified of them.

Last year I was running on my road (I live way out in the country), and on my way up the road, this huge black snake was stretched out from the edge of the dirt/gravel road to the middle. I didn't want to stop my run so I prayed hard and ran past him. He didn't budge. His tongue was going in and out so I know he was alive. On my way back down the road, he was still there... so I ran by him again. On my way back up the road, he was gone. I was surprised he didn't run when I went past him, but I think I scared him as much as he scared me and he just froze.

OMG I saw the exact same thing (the hit snake on the road) last week here in Texas! Too weird! I think though, that the writhing we both saw was just the nerves continuing to jerk. Like when a lizard loses part of its tail, and the tail still flops around. I think the snakes were probably really already dead. That's how I made myself feel better about seeing it, it wasn't continuing to suffer. :(

I'm like you Marla, I hate to hear of anything suffer, I even feel bad when I have to kill a spider!

Sorry about the one in the workout room! You'll be jumping extra high on those tuck-jumps now though. Just think about ol' Slinky! :)
