SJP abdominals

WOW! Does anyone else think the ab segment of SJP is brutal. My abs are on fire by the time we finish those stupid bicycles! Ugh! I used to do those with Jane Fonda????!!!??? They didn't hurt that bad then! I must have been fakin' it.

I just did this one this morning and really love it! I use to have such a hard time getting all the way through this workout, but now I can do it, planks and all!!! This is a great burner, as well as KP&C's abs.

I just did KPC this morning. This one is STILL the hardest one for me! I really like the jab-cross-hook-upper-pop-pop-duck combination. But the very last combination before the cooldown where you do the 2 kick jumps and then the side kicks is SOOOOO hard for me. I think it's because I haven't got good mobility in my right hip.

In my opinion The most difficult Cathe's abs are in bootcamp. Have you tried the abs in the abs hits.they are brutal. I think the secret is contract the muscles. :)

KPC is very hard for me also. I still cannot finish the entire workout, but I'm working on it. I took a break from Cathe cardio for a while and wish I hadn't because now I feel I'm starting all over again. I thought I would die when I came back to this workout. I'm definitely sticking with her cardio workouts this time and I'll be doing this once a week to build up to doing the entire workout.

ME abs without a doubt are the hardest for me. I have a 10 lb. ball and those (What-ever-you-call-em: come up with the ball alternating legs). WoW! I have to get rid of the ball half way through. Some day I'll complete the whole set.}( Definitely planks are difficult, especially after a fatiguing upperbody workout.

Hi Donna,

IMO, SJP abs rank up there with the Intensity Series core work, and are the most challenging of the Body Blast Series. Tough and effective!

Thanks for this thread! I forgot all about SJP abs and decided to do them today after seeing this thread. Great ab workout!

I wanted to add to this, last week I did an ab marathon where I did KP&C abs, ME abs and Stability Ball Abs one right after the other. My abs were sore for two days! That doesn't happen with just one workout for me anymore. It felt great to feel my ab muscles fatigued.

Another cool ab mish-mosh is:

KPC abs OMITTING the planks/pikes/rolldowns on the ball; THEN
SJP abs in its entirety.

Major, major abdominable burn.

I agree, the ab work from SJP is some of Cathe's toughest. It's one of my faves.

Interesting mish-mosh, A-Jock. I usually substitute something else for those ball pikes (due to a pesky and potentially painful ganglion), but I never thought to sub in an entire ab section from another workout!

Ab Hits is just the ab workouts from earlier videos, isn't it? I have all those workouts, so I haven't bothered to buy Ab hits.

I think Cathe's toughest ab workouts are from ME, SJP, KPC, and BC. I try to do ME and SJP often during the week because they seem to have the most effect for me. KPC - I hate doing the pikes on the ball! I am so afraid I am going to crash everywhere! I haven't tried doing the BC abs too much separately, though I may have to start. Good suggestions. I think the bike maneuvers are the worst, yet I have read those work the abs the most effectively (at least that is what I keep telling myself as I struggle to finish them!).:7
