Should Lori Drew's case be dismissed??

A judge will issue a ruling on wether Lori Drew's case, the mother charged with setting up a fake myspace resulting in the suicide of a teen, should be dismissed. Defense attorneys claim the mother cannot be held responsible because Lori never read the myspace service rules that prohibit things like harassment. Yet a computer forensic analyst found that the myspace account was promptly removed upon Megan's suicide and Lori has testified that she knew she could get in trouble for the hoax.

Lori set up a fake myspace account to find out if Megan was spreading rumors about Lori's daughter Sarah. Lori claims she asked her business assistant to remove the account two weeks after creating it and that it was the assistant that sent Megan the final message that drove her to suicide.

Should the case be dismissed and if not, do you think Lori is guilty of conspiracy and accessing a computer without authorization?

I can't believe that b*tch can't be tried for manslaughter. According to a report I saw tonight on CNN the woman's best friend was quoted as saying she knew the girl was suicidal and could "easily be pushed over the edge..." She did just that. She is just evil.

If all this is proved then not only should that woman be charged with some form of crime she should also lose custody of HER children! In my mind this is a clear case why some people should never be allowed to have children. What future "monster" has she created for the next generation? People do not understand that their actions of "parenting" creates an entire world of sick pathetic and soon to be dispicable people. At some point the world stops caring "why" you are the way you are- You become 100% responsible for your choices & actions- Her children are in for a hard life if they have her as their role model.

Again... I say if all this is 100% accurate - I rarely believe I have all the facts straight as an outsider.

I'd hate to see the case dismissed. I'm not sure exactly what they can accomplish with her legally, but whatever they can manage, I'd like to see them succeed. She shouldn't get away with this kind of behavior.

The case should not be dismissed. Her behavior was criminal and I don't understand why she can't be charged with harassement, stalking, fraud or even possibly manslaughter. How could any adult do this to a child? Her vindictiveness, cruelty, and just plain stupidity is mindboggling. What an example to set for your own children.

I'm actually confused by this sentence. Now I don't have a MySpace account so you have to forgive my ignorance, but don't you have to agree to the rules in order to set up an account?

For instance when you join certain forums, maybe even this one, after you create your *name* and everything this screen comes up with *the rules* and you have to check a box that you have read and agree to abide by those rules. While I'm certain that some, if not most, people don't actually read those rules by checking the box you are saying you did. If you later break the rules and are punished/penalized in some way it isn't really relevant if you actually read the rules or not because by checking the box you are saying you did.

It's similar to a contract. If you sign a contract without reading it and then violate the terms of said contract, stating you never actually read the contract is soley your problem and hardly much of defense as by signing you are stating that you did in fact read the contract. Aimlessly signing agreements(either online or on paper) that you haven't read doesn't mean you are somehow not accountable if you commit an infraction.

And, honestly, did an adult actually need their to be an official rule about not harassing others?
