Should I get Muscle max?

Hi everyone,

I'm lookking for a total body workout, espcially for upper body. I was thinking of Muscle Max since I like the GS and MM is in the same series.

I was wondering:
- Is it as tough as the GS ? (for example, I found P&P too easy)
- I already own SS, P&P, CTX, PUB, GS, S&H, BM2, Terminator and HCE (which both have strength segments). Would I get somenthing more by adding MM or is it too similar to the ones I have ?

Thanks
Nathalie :)

I love muscle max. Its a great total body work out. The premixes are good too. I dont have gym styles but hope to get that in the coming months. GS is a 3 day split and MM is a total body work out with premixes for upper body, lower body and a timesaver. I think it would be a nice compliment to 3 day split rotation. I guess you could always make any one of these workouts more challenging by using heavier weight or slowing down the pace.

Since I don't have the other titles you mentioned, the only thing I can compare MM to is the weight training workouts I used to do in health clubs.

This was my first Cathe weight training purchase, and I was fried after the first go around, it's really a thorough butt-kicker, IMHO, and a workout I actually enjoy doing, as opposed to boring health club machines.

I have many of the workouts you mention, and I just bought Muscle Max this month (I preordered STS and figured I should take advantage of the free shipping).

MM is worth it. It's thorough. You feel it in every muscle, including legs, and it has a strong abs segment.

If you're looking for a total body workout, I'd suggest MM.

have a great day,
Dawn

I LOVE Muscle Max! I also love GS, so if you like that one, you will like this one too, and they do not feel like the same workout, if you are worried about that. Have you watched the clip of it on cathe.com?

Hello Nathalie,

This is definitely one of my favourites and the one I use most often for total body. You can go heavier with weights and will really feel as though you've gained strength and muscle. I vary between this and MIS for total body heavier weight training, and Power Hour and Muscle Endurance for light weight training. Most of the time I prefer to do weights twice a week rather than 3 or 4, so I interchange the total body weight workouts to get every thing twice. If I did 3 day split I would have to weight train 4 days a week: 3 day split + 1 day total body. The timing on these are ideal as well, not too short, like Push Pull & Supersets, and not too long.

I hope Cathe will put out more weight workouts similar to these 4 so I can have more variety in my routine.

MM is one of my favourites as well.. my ABsolute fave for the ab section :)
However, I don;t find it very difficult at all. I don't consider it a tough or challenging workout like GS or 4DS. I find it to be better for the days you don't really feel like working out or if you're looking to get in shape and not build or push yourself too much because there are only a few exercises for each muscle group.

I used this on a rotation when I was really looking to build, but I did it TWICE so I could get more sets in. Ive also used it in a heavy rotation once immediatly after the GS series foir the same muscle group.
Another option would be to use heavier weights than you would normally use to make it more strengthening?
Otherwise, if you're not looking to build much size but still want to hit all the muscle groups I think it would be perfect!

But all the above is just MY experience with MM.

Ive been doing Cathe dvd's for almost two years now, since working out at home and I have figured ways of tweaking her video's to suit my needs of the moment.
If it's not hard enough, I do it twice. If it's not mass gaining enough, I use heavier weights and shave a couple reps off at the end. If I want to feel more burn somewhere's I pause and do a particular exercise again :)

I would never use MM consistently, but enjoy throwing it in b/c I do really enjoy it for a change. I did it yesterday and pushed myself with the weights. Tomorrow through Friday I will do Slow and Heavy, I think. That is what I like to use MM for - not as a 3 times a week workout, but rather as a one day thing, followed by a really good weight workout that week. As mentioned in my above post, though, I do like it and am so glad to have it to mix in.
