Should I buy PS/S&H?

Cathlete
Hi All,

I would be really grateful for your advice. I have most of Cathe's cardio tapes, but as far as strength tapes go, I have Leaner Legs, MIS, Power Hour, and also do upper body sections of CTX and BodyMax

My goals are to lose about 40lbs and "lean" down. I build muscle relatively easily and have a naturally large frame (broad shoulders, narrow(er) hips). I don't want to bulk up, but I do want some muscle definition (don't we all?!).

What I would like to know is, do you think PS or S&H would be useful additions to my collection in order to achieve my goals? I "discovered" Cathe about 6 months ago and LOVE her workouts (I live in the UK, and all I can say is, "thank goodness" for multi-region DVD players!). I have been exercising at home for several years, but have always concentrated more on cardio, so strength/weight work is a relatively new concept to me. Although I haven't followed any kind of formal Cathe rotation, over the last few weeks I have been doing 4-5 days of cardio and 2 days of strength/weights.

I guess what I am trying to ask (in a long-winded way!) is if PS or S&H will give me results that the other strength tapes, mentioned above, will not? If so, would you recommend PS over S&H or vice versa?

Many thanks in advance.
Kaz

I wish there were more days in the wk to fit more in. I also do Bodymax on Saturday on the S&H weeks and Power Hour on Sat's with the PS weeks.

P.S. For weightloss I add 45 min - 1hr cardio daily (Cathe step tapes, jogging, Reebok step tapes, etc.) I try to keep a good rotaion so as not to get bored. I love Cathe's kickboxing and 10 10 10 the best. I do them on weight training days because they are 30 minutes and intense, and I still put in a good weight workout.

Hi Kaz,
Chosing between the 2 are hard. I have both, and I too rotate PS and S&H. I guess it really depends on how much weight work you are looking to add.
PS Series can be done in long rotations where Cathe suggests that you do S&H in shorter rotations 3-4 weeks only, so I guess your biggest decision is do you want a series that you can do longer rotations with? or one that you can utilize in shorter "spurtz", that would also be a sure fire plateau buster? Both are such great series, and a great bargain.

Personally, I think PS is 'solid' strength workout. If I have to pick only ONE strength workout to keep, I'll keep PS. I have always enjoy doing PS. I have combined the upper body work into 1 session and liked it very much. I would suggest to go with PS first. You could get S&H later, should you decide to, whenever money permits.

Of course, I think S&H also has its own place. It's meant to break your plateau, and only for short rotation. I was really ready for another rotation after doing s&H for 3 weeks. FYI, Cathe said to do S&H in short rotation, 1-3 weeks.

I'm on week 2 of S&H and love it. I've been done the once (3 days total) plus CTX (cardio). I already am feeling good results.

I thought cathe said 3-4 week rotation... 1-3 seems pretty short to me. I know I'm going to do a 4 week one.

Now the decision is do i buy PS too.

Yes, you should buy them both! I think nothing looks better than a sculpted muscle. You will be taking many trips to the mirror to flex and admire. I really like them both, can you tell?

Same here! I have the tightest budget in the world, but I can honestly say that both series are worth the investment! If you can do both, do it, I got mine one at a time, PS Series first, and while doing my first rotation with it, started budgeting for S&H, and 7 weeks later, I got S&H and they arrived in perfect time to begin a new rotation :)
Both are really wonderful series.

Thank you!
I've managed to buy the S&H series in it's entirety from Firm Swap board at a reduced price, so I am looking forward to getting these! Now, to start saving for the PS series - or shall I wait for the new videos...hmmmm - too many choices!!!
Thanks for all your opinions!
Kaz.
