Should I buy Hardcore Extreme?

Hi All,
I'm ready to buy a new Cathe DVD but I'm not sure which one to get. I was thinking about High Step Challenge but then I spotted Hardcore Extreme. I already own Kick Max and I have the FitTv version of LoMax, both of which are part of Hardcore Extreme...also, I'm worried about the tricky choreography I might encounter with the Imax 3 portions of this workout. However, the mix of all these workouts really looks appealing to me. I'd love to hear some opinions about Hardcore Extreme...is it as good as it looks? Are the step routines suitable for the fit but uncoordinated? Would you recommend High Step Challenge over Hardcore Extreme?
Thanks for any opinions!:)

I love this dvd! The mix is GREAT! There is so much variety and intensity. Don't worry about the IMAX 3 segments-- I am cardio choreography impaired, and I got the sequences just fine after watching it one time through. The blasts are high impact, but the choreography is not as complex as BM2 or IMAX 2, but that's just me. I liked it so much that I bought the IMAX 3 and High Step Challenge dvds themselves. IMO opinion, Hardcore Extreme will offer more intensity than HSC, but I love HSC too. I'm not really helping you, am I? ;)

Hello,

I have answered this question and, in my opinion, it's not value for money. I'd rather have the 3 or 4 workouts that are on it seperately. There is one workout that combines Low Max and IMAX3, which I didn't like very much because of the change in step height. IMAX3 is on 6" whereas Low Max is on 8". I didn't know whether I should keep my step at 6" or 8". I do use this occasionally, but only because I bought it.

I ended buying KickMax, IMAX3 and Low Max anyway because I prefer to do the workouts as is and there are premixes on each of these that I think are better than HardCore Extreme.

I say that the money is better spent on some other workout.

I have Hardcore Extreme and actually really like it. I don't own Imax 3 or KM and don't plan on buying them since I get the best parts of them on HCE. I do own Low Max and really like that one so I often do it as-is.

I haven't been able to do HCE for a few months due to knee problems--I actually think I may be giving up high impact for good. If I didn't have knee issues, though, I'd be doing it much more often. I like the mixture of all the workouts together. This one is definetely a killer!

I did not like this compilation, especially because of the choppy editing. It wasn't worth the annoyance to me, and I got rid of it quickly.

Wow, such differing opinions about this dvd! Thank you to everyone who responded...I guess I'll have to give this some thought!

Do you have the Terminator DVD? IMO, that's her best compliation. My Hardcore Extreme is still in it's shrink wrap because I haven't done many of her Hardcore workouts and I'm not a fan of IMAX 3. If you don't have the Terminator, I highly recommend it!

With all due respect to Cathe who gets me up and moving six mornings a week, I must admit this is my least favorite of my 22 Cathe DVDs. I really like the second workout (all cardio), but when it comes to the first and third workout, I agree with Kathryn that the transitions/editing makes me feel harried, even though I watch the DVDs first and make notes of weights, etc., that will be used so that I am prepared. I love the full version of Low Max and the challenge of the full Imax 3, and would recommend them over HCE. Cathe has a number of excellent cardio/weight mix DVDs, including Cardio & Weights and Low Impact Circuit if that's more of what you're looking for.

I got rid of Hardcore Extreme too.

It annoyed me as well. I did not like any of the mixes.

The Terminator is much better.

I really like HCX, and if you can do Low Max, I don't think the choreography in the IMAX 3 portions should be a problem. The workout compilations on this dvd have a lot of cardio.

HSC has shorter cardio sections, some more intense, some less intense followed by weight sections. It's a very good workout, but different from the HCX workouts.

The Terminator, like others mentioned, is an excellent compilation DVD from the Intensity series and I think more worth the money than HCX. 2 of the workouts(Gauntlet and Viper) are cardio/weight circuits with a lot of intense cardio and a fair amount of weight work(very sweaty--I love them). Imax Xtreme has a lot of cardio with a very tiny amount of weights. Anyway--just a thought.

Have fun deciding!

I would recommend the Terminator as well. I thought HCX was choppy and it was too difficult for me as well. I think I've only done it one time since I've owned it.

I don't have any of the Hardcore series except Hardcore extreme which I really love. The first time through the workouts is rough but I find that true for any DVD/VHS. I keep an old business card inside the jacket of all my workouts and write on the back what weights I've used, other equipment I need (ball, bands) what step height changes there are, etc. I read through it before the work out so I am not surprised. I enjoy all three of the extreme workouts and would love to buy the series ( I am waiting to see what the deal is with the Workout Blender first). I say go for it; you will feel spent after any of the three.
