Should I be taking Supplements????

I am 25 years old and I currently weight 135lb. I work out 4-6 days a week with Cathe's vidoes. I usually do an hour of cardio and then an hour of weights, and a 20 min of abs. Every day I do something different and every week is different. After my workout I have a whey protein smoothie. I eat pretty healthy, except for the occasional splurg. I am almost to where I want to be with my body but I feel like im not getting any further. I was thinking about starting to take a fat burning supplement, but I have no idea what kind to consider since there are so many out there. I have never been the type to take diet pills, I always just thought that eating right and exercise was enough. But now I am seeing some results since i have "upped" my workout a bit and I want to see more. Any suggestions on a good supplement, or if I should steer clear???

I don't consider fatburners "supplments" (as in something beneficial that adds to an otherwise good diet) but 'drugs' pure and simple.

Even if they are not outright dangerous, by using them, you aren't doing something that you can maintain, and any fat lost by using them would be harder to keep off than fat lost through consistent healthy eating and exercise.

You might want to look into making that 'pretty' healthy into a straight 'healthy." I think a lot of times, people don't eat as healthfully as they'd like to think.

Your answer to more results is right in your post. You say you're 'seeing some results' since you have 'upped' your workouts a bit. Keep going with that.

If you aren't already doint interval cardio, add that once or twice a week. If you are doing primarily one type of cardio, switch things up (the body becomes more efficient at the cardio you do most, so keep it a bit less efficient by mixing things up).

An hour of cardio plus an hour of weights 4-6 days a week seems a bit much to me. You're young, and maybe it's not too much for you now, but overexercising can cause your body to hold onto fat, because it interprets the exercise as stress.

I say no to the 'supplements'. If they worked, the world would be fat free!

The first thing I would do is start a food journal and see what can be changed to help you along. Calculate calories and when you eat. Maybe a late night snack is sticking with you or a food combination is the culprit (ex/ simple sugars consumed with fat). Maybe you are eating more than you think. Snacking adds up.

I'd look at the diet first since it plays the largest role. Make some tweaks and track any results...good or bad.

Don't do the drug route. Those are a waste of money!

I'm wondering if a multivitamin a day would be fine, but I agree to "just day no!" to any "fat-burnering" supplements. Save your $$$ and buy some more Cathe workouts! :D

Yeah, stay off the fat burning supplements which will just mess your body up and then you will never get anywhere. Go healthy. Do your strength training/cardio and watch what you eat. If you find out how many calories you need and stick with a good solid clean eating plan...you will get the results you are looking for.

You no it is a proven fact you can't get all the nutrients your body needs in food. The FDA even agrees with this statement. I used to be one who was against supplements, but now I couldn't emagine life without my vitamins. I've never felt better. I have more energy, my body is more sculpted and well defined, and my workouts are more productive. Even my hair and skin are healthier. In fact the gal that does my brows was complaining last time that the wax just doesn't do the job anymore, because my roots are to thick and healthy. She has to pluck more now. My vitamin supplements allowed me to shed the last 15 bls I've been trying to get rid of for over 2 years. The vitamins I take are formulated by the top doctors in the nation. In fact one of the docs invented TPN, which is tube feeding for patients who need the nutients but can't eat. You can't bash all supplements, now the stuff you can by in the store or at GNC I wouldn't touch it. But the stuff I take has a highly respected Scientific and Medical advisory board, and only use high-quality ingredients in their products. These products are taken by perfessional athletes and olympians and they endorse the products for free, because they're so good and they work. So not all supplements are bad.
Not only have I changed my life for the better, but I have been helping tons of people change their lives for the better with AdvoCare. Check it out, google the doctors, read the testimonials, and check out the endorsers. You'll see what I say is true.

Not sure if you are asking me..just in case...I take a scoop of Endurox R4 (Chocolate flavor) everyday. 1 scoop is 1/2 a serving. If i am training really hard (like now) I will do another scoop later in the day. I mix it into my food (aka oatmeal) so that it absorbs better into my system.

If your tearing up your muscles with major cardio (i.e. marathon training) this stuff helps replenish what is stripped away and help those muscles recover faster. It also boosts the immune system with Vitamins C and E.
