Shoes for high impact exercises like HiiT

Hi Cathe,
I have been doing your DVD programs close to a year now. I have moved onto STS and Shock Cardio exercise now. I would like your advice on selecting the right type of shoes. I am 5.2" like you but Road Runner Sports told me I should use 7.5D because of flat feet (used to use 6.5B!). I don't find that many aerobic shoes especially for my size. I am also not clear how to go about selecting the right shoes. I did go through the forums for your suggestion and noticed your comments on Ryka. But Ryka has only narrow size (B). I appreciate your advice.

Thanks,
LS

You don't have to limit yourself to what is sold specifically as an "aerobics shoe." Try all sorts, like cross trainers, and running shoes. I now do all my workouts in running shoes. This began because my old Rykas wore out and I couldn't afford to replace them and my running shoes, but now I just continue. I find running shoes fit my narrow feet better than Rykas do anyway, and even though I have a tile floor to work out on, I have a very thick, stable mat that I use for plyo and HiiT moves, so there's the support I need. I'm not having any problems with any perceived lack of lateral support.

So, maybe think outside the box and try a variety of stores, including running shoe stores where experts can help fit your feet. You may find that you need a man's shaped shoe for the width. Nothing wrong with that! My daughter has worn men's soccer boots for years simply because they fit better than ones made for girls and women. It's all about the fit, right?
